I love this game and I don't see how anyone could hate it, even on Ganker since it's not quite to the point of popularity that it warrants vtards to be in a constant state of rage
I played every version from start to finish with my friends since it started in beta. I've got 1100 hours in the base game but only bought it when the mechanical bosses released.
I just have to cope with this taking a long time to both learn the skills, and to also apply them
What game? I also hope you're making it moddable because that's half the appeal for a lot of people.
Yeah of course.
I just want to follow Terraria's steps on >Release simple version of game >Update it gradually and finish the story >Continue doing free updates for things like post-game and polish
That's neat, I hope it works out for you. The business model certainly still works in 2022 as proven by vampire Survivors and it generates a lot of positive publicity.
What I want to make is so radically different from other sandboxes though
Its expanding exploration more than just horizontally but vertically, the underground should have much more than just "materials to dig up" and the sky should be equally emphasized
The addition of a simple story would do wonders for the genre but people are taking the wrong lessons from successful games
i played it for the first time with my brother (who has played it tons of times) and ended up beating it and it was really fun, i'm not sure how people sink thousands of hours into this game though unless i'm missing something
Terraria is a game that forever ruins the ability to play co-op games with your friends after because so very few things match how fricking fun an experience it is.
Ye, I'll be playing modded Terraria once I get burnt out on Cataclysm: BN. Don't know what mod I'll go with yet though. Never tried Spirit mod and it seems really good but I might want to play Calamity even though I fear I'll be dropping it post moon lord or even before, all depends how many stupid shitty mechanics they've added over the years.
What are some good big content mods? I've played Thorium already.
The start really is slow. That's the one failing I kind of give to the game, the whole copper>silver>gold stretch of gameplay feels a bit too long without much power gained and not many interesting items and abilities to be found
This. Especially if the world gen is shit and you don't have a naturally spawning cave right next to you, so you got to dig it all out with your slow ass pickaxe.
Meteor rushing made early game a bit more bearable since you were able to get pretty decent equipment early on and all you had to do was break a Shadow Orb/Crimson Heart, but unfortunately they nerfed it in 1.4 and now meteors only spawn after defeating Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu.
no, I find the later bosses boring to fight as it devolves into flying around in a circle and that melee in this game is basically just different flavors of sword that shoots out a magic beam so you don't even feel like you are playing melee.
The next update will supposedly fix melee completely
And most magic is ranged combat but worse that eats up your slowly regening mana rather than your ammo which is plentiful or even unlimited. With a few exceptions.
I haven never finished terraria.
The overwhelming contents scare me from starting a new run now.
I have too much games to play and can't dump a few hundred hours into this.
Does a utility/mod exist that lets you copy parts of multiple worlds into a new one?
Like, let's say I give people time to build their own houses and then they upload their house world to me and I can paste them into a new one. I know I've seen a pre-assembled house placed into a new world, but I'm not sure what the guy used to do it or if it's possible with multiple areas.
Yes
best game
i love terraria too

Hundreds of hours solo and Hundreds with friends
Only with god mode enabled, I'm not wasting several hours grinding in a 2d game.
>turns on godmode
>still has to go out and grind, except immortal
This is such poorly constructed bait it actually made me reply.
Hey, I still gotta up my damage. Removing the need for armor cuts down a lot of time.
inspired me to quit my job and start learning to become a dev to make my own version of it
are you that anon?
Yes, as much as I hate it sometimes
I just have to cope with this taking a long time to both learn the skills, and to also apply them

I don't. The combat sucks, the art style sucks and it's boring.

Yea you're missing THIS
*unzips dick*
*sucks*
Got better once I found the Apache

agreed

I enjoyed it for a while early on but I've tried to go back to it a few times to check out the new content and I can't get into it

It's the shit mobility that's the problem. You move SO slow until you get boots + wings

Can I interest you guys in a WIP cave theme?

I've got a clever solution I'm throwing in my own project that answers this problem
I feel this a lot.
I’ve been with terraria from the very start but I havent been able to get into it after the moon event
I played it with my Friend, was great fun 😀

and manga!
and gay men!
Update when? I refuse to play it until the update makes melee actually melee.

Is called TEdit is not a mod but a tool, it allows you to manipulate entire maps, you can copy and paste anything with it.
Thanks for the answer, I'll look into it.
It looks complex but its not that bad
Its also useful for fricking with the crimson or corruption if its raping your world
Wouldn't say love, but it was a fun little game for the few hours I played it.
I'm waiting for Thorium to be ported to 1.4 so I can play it again.
Terraria is THAT GAME
Love it
Why is it taking over 5 months to release a QoL update?
