I made a Pokémon video for YouTube after a long time of wanting to do it, but now I realize how hard it is to actually get an audience, and how much I hate my own voice. How does one do it, bros?

First of all, it's a little hard to gain an audience if you don't actually upload your video.

I did upload it, I'm just hesitant to randomly share it around though because I know people find it obnoxious when people just shill their own channels here (at least from what I've seen).

Greetings Pokefans, I'm Marioipod13 and I don't find it annoying.

You can't really gain an audience with one video, you have to upload more and consistently, even if it's just one video a month
    >I hate my own voice
Tough it out and get used to it

Yeah, that's what I'm planning to do, thanks for the suggestion anon.

Ah, frick it, guess I'll give it a shot. I don't really have anything to lose by posting it here except my own dignity, which I guess doesn't really matter in the long run lmao.

It's a theory for the Teal Mask. Made the video as a "joke" because a tweet I made appeared on a Pokétuber's channel in which I said the Caribbean was Hawaii because I'm an idiot, so I attempted to take the chance and make something funny.

Pretty good video, much higher quality than I expected. You could probably make a more flashy thumbnail but it works

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I'll try working on my thumbnails and some other stuff I've noticed I need to improve on for future videos.

Okay chandeluranon, I didn't watch the whole video because I have baby zoomer tiktok attention span, but I actually like your voice. It's not overly energetic, in fact it's arguably relaxing, and the slight accent is actually cool imo. One of my favorite channels is Lemmino and you can tell he's Swedish very easily, but it adds to his delivery.

Don't worry about your voice anon, you're perfect just the way you are oowoo

My voice was the part I was the most self-conscious about, so hearing you liked it definitely lifts a weight off my shoulders.

Thank you for the kind words anons, it means a lot! I'll keep it up, and try not kicking myself down next time 🙂

      >male pokétuber
      >no homosexual voice
      >not some annoying ADHD zoomer
      amazing.
also, both Ghost and Fire types are amazing, so you chose a nice channel mascot PKMN

Chandelure has always had a special place in my heart, and I've always loved making edits for it. When I was deciding on a mascot it was practically a no-brainer, it just made me think of all the silly visual jokes I could make by moving it around causing mischief

Bruh I just saw your 2nd video since I wanted to leave a sub, your alright.
I appreciate your art of making a 2008 YouTube video in 2023. That song is as nostalgic as Lorelei's Dewgong using Rest.

I let my insanity guide me (I was playing through Crystal casually, and I randomly got nostalgia over those old YouTube tutorials and felt like reliving that era for a second kek).

your voice sounds fine and your accent is charming. if anything, it sounds like you were maybe trying to consistently speak at the lowest register of your voice and inadvertently frying your voice, which will damage your vocal cords over time. for future videos, you should let yourself breathe normally and use whatever high tones/low tones you naturally use, instead of trying to make yourself sound as deep as you can at all times

I think I definitely did that at some points without realizing I was doing that, I'll try not to do it as much in the future because you're right that it made my throat hurt a bit after doing some takes... I'll try letting myself speak more naturally, I'm guessing it'll come with time as I get used to recording myself. Thank you!

Bretty good anon. Your voice sounds fine to me, although it's clear you don't have much experience yet. Accent is a little hard to place, but it isn't grating or anything. Just keep at it at your own pace and you'll improve.
The most crucial thing in building an audience is (obviously) finding a good balance between upload quantity and upload quality. Your video is fine for what it is and if an established channel uploaded it you can bet it would gain traction, but I doubt it will 'blow up' without a combination of luck and shilling, and even then it's unlikely at this point. It also will be dated in a month once the DLC actually comes out, so you might want to look into creating videos about topics that will not age that quickly.

Not bad, I like the editing. I'll throw a sub your way, might as well

Okay, lets make this a thread about Pokemon things you have made, where you can share them with no shame.

      ...you first.

      Sure, why not
I made some Shitty little MSPaint comics for a few of my Nuzlockes on /nuz/
      Emerald: https://imgur.com/a/TAvilKr
      Randomized HeartGold: https://imgur.com/a/vl3gywE
Randomized LeafGreen is a WIP, and is developing the autistic lore that the rest of the comic has been setting up.

I love how expressive the comics are and how much action you can fit into these, anon
People who do Nuzlockes while giving personality to their mons, or doing these things are incredibly based.

Now if only I could release a new comic more often than once every 7 months, I'd be golden

Your video looks like you had fun making it and are passionate about it. That's all that matters in the end. Just have a bit more confidence in yourself

But being nonbinary ain't the way. You don't need those special labels.

Yeah, I definitely had a lot of fun especially with the editing and the script writing! That was probably the part I enjoyed myself with the most, even if it takes a long time. It's fun to think about how to present things in a somewhat entertaining way.

LMAO, that made me laugh. I used to identify as nonbinary but nowadays I think that's just other stuff going in my head. Thank you, anon.

on a whim I bought a couple of bags of the trick or treat boosters and the premier ball and made a video opening the random packs. didn't really do it for a audience just thought it'd be fun.
That was almost a year ago now. Still have a whole bag to open but haven't set up my recording area again.

I believe in you anon. If you're still scared about your voice, start streaming. Just talking for a few hours pointlessly will get you used to your own voice.

Also keep in mind for down the line.
consistency is key. Release often, or release other forms of content to keep things fresh be it shorts or streams.

If you manage to break the invisible barrier of youtube and start getting bigger. Keep in mind making your mascot a registered trademark character means you can never monetise your avatar for shirts or merch

That's what I'm gonna try doing. I already have several ideas for videos, so I can try uploading stuff on the channel at a consistent pace... I'm not thinking about merch or any of that for now, I'm still just doing it for fun and to test the waters while I share the random ideas that go through my mind with others, but I'll cross that bridge if I get there.

Thank you for the advice! I super appreciate it. I might consider trying to stream here and there during the weekends, it does sound like something I'd like to try!

It's fine if it doesn't blow up, honestly. I'm happy with knowing some people liked it and I'm pretty proud of the end result as well. All this advice I'm getting is worth waaaay more than blowing up early, hahah.

When it comes to streaming. Keep in mind if you do anything to do with rom hacks or unofficial stuff TPC wont touch you with a borrowed dick.
But viewers love that shit. Current trend is pokemon fusions, do some youtube shorts of that stuff, or quick minute long reviews of fan hacks.

Your editing is solid and your voice is fine but you can tell you aren't used to it. As I said streaming will help you learn to speak with more confidence.

One more bit of advice. Pokemon is great. But you don't want to hard focus on pokemon alone, try to branch out into other games in the genre since there is a large influx of monster training games you can dip your toe into that so if pokemon ever shits the bed hard you always have a parachute.
