Same reason
I'm gonna go with what this guy said
the zoom zoom generation flocks towards everything team-based because those games don't immediately expose them for the shitters they are
it's why fighting games are also a stale genre
From the little I played zoomers seem to just play it exactly like a regular team death match. They go where everyone else goes. Die after thirty seconds. Then they spend five minutes staring at loading screens instead of respawning. They do this for thousands of hours instead of just playing something that let's then respaw because they watch someone on twitch who only plays it.
Because you find doing the same things over and over fun. The people that randomized gameplay elements cater to are people who would get bored of an arena shooter for being the same damn thing match after match, and so prefer get their "dirty dopamine" from a game which presents to them a different challenge every time.
Honestly they're not even that hard, unless you're 1v1ing some guy old enough to be your dad and has the map downloaded into his brain.
Everyone gets somewhat decent at tracking and flicking by just playing any PvP focused shooter.
People are clearly willing to learn how to do all the movement tricks too, people bhop in CS all the time, apex and even cod players have their own movement shenanigans too.

>Toxxic
first of all it's TOXIKK, the /KK/ aspect comes up a lot in the game. And all it does is rip off UT2K4 but runs on the Unreal 3 engine so it's prettier but no custom maps.
So you have better graphics but worse maps worse weaponry (No shock combo, the most defining thing about UT) too many hitscan weapons no new game modes, bad armor system, but at least it's free. >Reflex
Reflex has everything a modern arena shooter should have. Incredible replay system, incredible steam workshop support, incredible map editor, allowing realtime, cooperative map making, jump-in-jump-out map editing live on a server, CUSTOM RULESETS so you can fix the weapon damages and shit however you want if you don't like standard, you can host your own server, CTF, TDM, clan arena, etc - but the only active community nowadays is the RACING mode (DeFrag, basically) >UT4 Alpha
really good framework, never expanded upon. Epic basically expected the playerbase to make the game for them. I don't like some of the weapon changes, but I can't say they're objectively worse. I like the wallrunning, and how movement feels like a mix of ut2k4 and ut99. but more like ut99. I really liked some of the game modes and maps. >Warsow
great game, good mix of UT/Q3(cpma) worlds. A bit too hard to get good at for most people, with all the pinballing and bouncing all over the fucking map and shit. Free >Xonotic (old Nexuiz)
Probably my favorite / underrated one - incredible weapon selection and variety, cool grappling hook by default in ctf, movement is a bit tricky because of the increased air control compared to vq3, still very cool though. >QL
This game WAS Free, now it's not .That alone fucks up everything. IT used to run in a browser, now it's Steam(ing pile of shit) only. They made a lot of changes, but now the only populated servers are clown arena with shitty soundpacks.

lmao you had instagib rockets that you couldn't avoid because the splash was actually massive stop parroting this dumb comment retards
I think the main issue with the formula is that it's hard to innovate and add new things. You can't really add more stuff to Quake Live that wouldn't be unnecessary.
I think the same goes with CSGO, there really isn't much to add or tweak (aside from smokes which they are finally changing). CS doesn't really gain much from adding new weapons and mechanics, only maps that are competitively viable.
There are plenty of anime cum your panty quest threads you can post your chad pictures in.

cant believe they just got random demoscene people to do the soundtrack and it turned out fucking incredible
i even have cds that are signed by alexander brandon
Lets say a arena shooter game was released today without any of the modern gaming trends like BR. How long would it last before the population goes down to the niche 1k players?
dies instantly, look at quake champions, only still has players because of dailies and classes and other gay hero shit.
QC died because it ran like shit and took forever to get in and out of a game. Diabotical was also trash. The fact of the matter is that no one with any talent has bothered to make a new arena shooter that is actually GOOD.
Yeah I'm pretty tired of people mixing up what arena shooters are. It's games that are set up like Quake 3, or UT, where you fuck around on a map getting weapons and shooting each other while picking up key items during the match.
Next best thing is Quake Live, you start out with a shitty weapon and have to pick up the rest around the map, and you're gonna have to learn how to strafe jump. It's pretty good.
>you start out with a shitty weapon and have to pick up the rest around the map
that's the shit i love, fuck loadouts, fuck not being able to change guns on the go, fuck "super weapons on cooldown"
bad news, the only servers anyone plays on in quake live are ones where you start with 200 armor, 200 health, all weapons, max ammo, and there's nothing to pick up on the map, and it's like 5v5 or 6v6. it's basically counterstrike with rocket spam. absolutely disgusting.
clown arena is popular because people dont know how to time items and they die too much in real ffa cuz they dont even know where weapons spawn and dont care to learn
Why's epic sweeping the entire franchise under the rug? Literally none of the games can be boguht/obtained legally.
Are they really gonna start calling their engine the fortnite engine?
nah, "Make something Unreal™" is too strong for them
fuck, im missing some good shooter, also stuff like og halo ce. I just wanna grab a gun and shoot idiots
I think arena shooters just lacked varience in gameplay. You hope in and do the same thing for the whole match and then thats all you do whenever you play that game. Where as other games have alternate game modes + the regular gameplay has more varience in the action so you dont get burnt out super fast
Yeah that's a good point, no matter what you're playing in an arena shooter, the same gameplay loop is still there. You're jumping around picking up weapons and armor, now you just have to capture something.
>"lacked variance" >what is freezetag >what is ctf >what is ca >what is defrag >what is instagib >what is unholy trinity >what is hot rockets >what is sacrifice >what is slipgate
Just go play Quake Champions? Host lobbies every Friday night maybe?
The game had a pathetically bad start, but it's still fun to play right now and I haven't had trouble getting matches. The time it takes to load in and out of a lobby is still pretty bad though, and honestly the main thing that makes it hard to stick with.
Serioulsy fuck Bethesda though for basically sabotaging the IP with how half-assed they handled the game.
I'm glad Paragon has survived, even though it's split into two games from two studios using the same assets, it's currently the only dotalike I've ever bothered playing and I like how it has normal TPS controls.
Open Fortress had a week or less of activity because TF2 was particularly bad with its bots, but then VALVe "fixed" the issue and now OF is dead as shit
Lets say a arena shooter game was released today without any of the modern gaming trends like BR. How long would it last before the population goes down to the niche 1k players?
These people don't actually want to play RTS games. They just want to feel the way they did when they were 12 and played Red Alert or Warcraft or whatever was popular at the time. They try to play games the same (stupid, juvenile) way they did when they were 12 because they're not interested in the actual game, they're trying to recreate a memory. And naturally, it inevitably fails because they're not wide-eyed children eager to play a cool new game, they're depressed, desperate to cling on to the remnants of the time their life didn't suck shit, but being terrified of acknowledging this they'll blame the game or the players.
That's how you get the people constantly whining about how we'll never get another game that's as good as their 20 year old nostalgia bait and every game made after is is trash, or how anything but attack-moving a blob of units is "moronclicking" and everyone who actually plays with any kind of skill is a tryhard. They're mad at the game because the only alternative is being mad at themselves and they don't have the mental fortitude to face their own character flaws.
And how are you going to employ plans without apm?

UT99 and UT2K4 had assault mode, which no game has replicated, even still to this day
UT2K4 also had Invasion RPG, a mod / game mode that no game has replicated, even still to this day. Killing floor is sorta similar in concept but missing a lot of the coolest stuff in it.
Just go play Quake Champions? Host lobbies every Friday night maybe?

The worst part is just sitting in a fucking menu waiting for the game. In every other arena shooter, even fucking Xonotic / Warsow, I can wait ON A SERVER and jump around the map / practice running between armors while people join.
>Epic Gays junked their latest UT because fortnite BR got popular
I'll never forgive them for this
They had no idea what the fuck they were doing with that game, it would have died regardless.
Fortnite was originally just a coop survival game with crafting to defend against zombies. They actually pulled the UT devs off to make the Fortnite BR mode. They did it in 6 weeks. It's actually incredible.
>Necris in an edgy hood
was this even available skin in game?
I remember playing until I got some black armor skin, but then everything after that was some unappealing stuff, so I continued to play the game just to have fun
people want a game they can properly commit to
people don't want to commit to a game that will die out quick
people want to commit to a game with a longstanding large active playerbase
no existing afps has this
————————————
A catch 22. Lets face it unless arena shooters return to it's popularity back in the 90s/2000s you'll never going to get a well populated afps in this age.
They peaked early and had no room for growth without stapling on unnecessary gimmicks that took away from the core of skill based shooting like oversized maps with vehicles. Halo cemented the death of shooters by popularizing the genre on consoles, a platform wholly unsuited for arena shooting, further driving the development of aforementioned unnecessary gimmicks.
You people will hate me for it but Halo 5 was unironically one of the best arena shooters ever made. Every single weapon was viable & had a niche, power weapons felt powerful but a skilled enough player could shut you down with just the pistol, great maps and a movement system that felt like a natural evolution for Halo while having an insane skill ceiling. It had the best armor and lady spartan dumpers of the series too
People aren't ready to hear it but you're absolutely right. Infinite is a total step backwards mechanically and from a sandbox perspective from 5, I can't believe they didn't even keep the thrusters sans pickup.
>little-to-no functional difference between players
This is only true at spawn, in terms of how it actually plays it's some guy with the spawning plinker getting dunked on by someone with 3x his health and a railgun.
Really shitty dead genre that for some reason has a bunch of delusional old heads in here thinking it took more skill than any modern shooter that people actually enjoy and play. They just cope of days gone by.
In the year 2053, people are going to be playing competitive MMORPGLMAFOLOL games in VR, and zoomer gays will be on here claiming that battle royale games required more skill. It'll never change.
Counterstrike and halo would be the battle royale equivalent for boomers, arena shooters being on top was very brief and online gaming was tiny when it happened
nothing could take less skill than modern zoomershooters because they're all built around obfuscating the true extent of you being trash >SBMM to lock you in with other shit players >team play elements to obfuscate you sucking ass since you can just blame team as a cope >games split into "roles" to not overwhelm you >most situations never ask more of you than to show up into a fight as a warm body to perform your role
now contrast this with quake for example with no SBMM so you get dropped into a lobby with sweaty igor with 3000 hours in the game that you literally can't even look at without: >dying instantly >being ignored by them since they don't even recognize you as a real player >realizing you don't know how to move in a straight line without fucking up because the movement is skill based >having no layer of obfuscation to hide behind if you suck >no safe space communities for noobs you can cry to on reddit after you finally win a match for acknowlegement so all you have to work with is your own personal resources, maybe you can find a strafe jump tutorial on youtube?
Define arena shooter, because gays attach the label to any boomer shooter like retards attach analog horror to literally anything scary involving tech that's outdated.
>new arena shooter comes out >arena shooter fans cry because it's not a near carbon copy of quake 3 or UT2K4 >it dies >arena shooter fans complain about their genre being dead >they also don't go back and play old arena shooters together, instead they just complain
yawn
I used to play Doom multiplayer with my friend during LAN days, and it was fun. I remember, some years later, I got UT, not sure which one, and it was still fun, with my friends
Then I made the mistake of hoping online and was met with nothing but sweats and tryhards, B-hopping all over the map and pulling shots like their lives depended on it. I assumed I just needed training, but after 3 or 4 weeks, I couldn't stomach the game
I wasn't playing the game because it was fun and I wanted to get better at it, I was playing it for the sake of not being left behind in the skill gap
I still liked my time with my friends, but gun to my head, I will never touch another online arena shooter
im shit at them, but i still like them. theres just something about playing on the maps i find satisfying. its like gaming distilled down to a purity, where it becomes only about the design of the map. my favorite mode was always pure deathmatch
They've kinda dug their own grave with no means of new player retention, while fans of the genre are also stuck in schizoposition of wanting new games to be prettier carbon copies of the game from 90's and also exclusively playing said game from the 90's, because they don't actually need or want the same game but with higher system requirements.
Arena shooters (especially quake) communities always kill new attempts at arena shooters with their insane demands from developers >It needs to be exactly like quake 3, while being completely different in every way
diabotical was ripping off QL3 and mixing in OW but even still it died in few months, the playerbase for these games is never going to tap into mainstream audiences because the mainstream audiences want casual fun where you can brainlessly run around collecting battle pass unlocks while watching streamers, there's also the fact the games don't work on consoles and zoomers have very little interest for intrinsic motivators such as getting better at a game and enjoying being good at a game so they can't even get through the door when it comes to arena shooters because they all generally require a minimum investment of learning how to move and learning how to switch weapons and if you decline to do so you will have a HORRIBLE time since you're basically an NPC mook for all the people in the same server
if you did the opposite ie. make an arena shooter for casuals you would end up with something like apex legends 3v3 arenas or overwatch FFA lobbies where half the lobby runs around as a roadhog or moira looking for easy kills and the 1% who try to take it seriously would just retreat to their own community
false premise
you weren't getting stomped because others "no-lifed" the game, you were getting stomped because the other guy was much better than you, plain and simple
it coincided with the fact that he is more skilled than you at the game, therefore he enjoyed it more, as opposed to a shitter who gets stomped on the regular and gradually loses the desire to play the game, yes
>remove your best character from show because street-shitters got offended over a relatively positive depiction of their pedophilic crypto-nazi national "hero"
>i miss arena shooters bros...
No, you don't. Nobody does. If people would miss them and there was demand for Arena shooters not every fucking new Arena shooter from the last 10 years would be dead on arrival.
>claims to miss arena shooters >only need 1 other player to player with >ffa servers are often populated >there are always pickups for team games in the evenings
afps larpers are so fucking cringe. on par with IRC larpers.

really good framework, never expanded upon.
Free
>Xonotic (old Nexuiz)
Probably my favorite / underrated one - incredible weapon selection and variety, cool grappling hook by default in ctf, movement is a bit tricky because of the increased air control compared to vq3, still very cool though.
>QL
This game WAS Free, now it's not .That alone fucks up everything. IT used to run in a browser, now it's Steam(ing pile of shit) only. They made a lot of changes, but now the only populated servers are clown arena with shitty soundpacks.
He's right, you guys just wanna complain. Look at the boomer shooter revival currently happening because people bought dusk.
>toxxic
>"pure arena shooter"
lmao you had instagib rockets that you couldn't avoid because the splash was actually massive stop parroting this dumb comment retards
Just play them then?
I still fire up UT every now and then because it's so fun
someone post that webm of the guy streaming unreal tournament at 250 fps while sweating his balls off and fragging bros at high speed
Say whaaaAAAAAAAAAATTTTT?!
I'm tired of pretending arena shooters were ever good.
What was wrong with them in the first place?
I think the main issue with the formula is that it's hard to innovate and add new things. You can't really add more stuff to Quake Live that wouldn't be unnecessary.
I think the same goes with CSGO, there really isn't much to add or tweak (aside from smokes which they are finally changing). CS doesn't really gain much from adding new weapons and mechanics, only maps that are competitively viable.
Zoom
>no argument
this is the level of skill from arenafags.
>they aren't good
If that's your argument then here's my argument. They're good.
Nope zoomy boomy coomy woomy if you were actually alive now, you would know they always sucked.
Not an argument
I don't. They were shit and only old fucks with no taste holding unto their young years like it.
Or are you shit at arena shooters?
I never played one. They always looked like ass. And obviously the majority of fps players agree.
There are many games I thought were shit or I wouldn't like them that I actually wound up loving.
Tactical shooters like Insurgency Sandstorm being one of them.
There are plenty of anime cum your panty quest threads you can post your chad pictures in.
Been playing ut 99 lately. The soundtrack on that game really makes you FEEL like mr unreal. Someone's i think that drum and bass was made for video games
>Been playing ut 99 lately. The soundtrack on that game really makes you FEEL like mr unreal. Someone's i think that drum and bass was made for video games
cant believe they just got random demoscene people to do the soundtrack and it turned out fucking incredible
i even have cds that are signed by alexander brandon
dies instantly, look at quake champions, only still has players because of dailies and classes and other gay hero shit.
QC died because it ran like shit and took forever to get in and out of a game. Diabotical was also trash. The fact of the matter is that no one with any talent has bothered to make a new arena shooter that is actually GOOD.
have a nice day
have a nice day and get out of this thread
Do it yourself you balding cuck. Your garbage genre died 20 years ago and it's gonna stay there.
>See video a react defending arena shooters
>it's all ultrakill and dusk
Yeah I'm pretty tired of people mixing up what arena shooters are. It's games that are set up like Quake 3, or UT, where you fuck around on a map getting weapons and shooting each other while picking up key items during the match.
That black probably has a massive maiden marooning malarkey
i played doom 2k16 mp and it was a blast, wish there was more
Next best thing is Quake Live, you start out with a shitty weapon and have to pick up the rest around the map, and you're gonna have to learn how to strafe jump.
Clan arena is so popular and I have no clue as to why.
clown arena is popular because people dont know how to time items and they die too much in real ffa cuz they dont even know where weapons spawn and dont care to learn
nah, "Make something Unreal™" is too strong for them
serious sam, then.
It has the fun parts of quake without the chores, but it does get a bit repetitive
fuck, im missing some good shooter, also stuff like og halo ce. I just wanna grab a gun and shoot idiots
What? Chicago ffa is full most of the time
>play doom 2016 mp for achievements
>tfw its the best multiplayer experience i had from years
Shame it was basically dead...
its usually active on the weekends, its helped me to change the regions occasionally in the queue
>"lacked variance"
>what is freezetag
>what is ctf
>what is ca
>what is defrag
>what is instagib
>what is unholy trinity
>what is hot rockets
>what is sacrifice
>what is slipgate
Just go play Quake Champions? Host lobbies every Friday night maybe?
The game had a pathetically bad start, but it's still fun to play right now and I haven't had trouble getting matches. The time it takes to load in and out of a lobby is still pretty bad though, and honestly the main thing that makes it hard to stick with.
Serioulsy fuck Bethesda though for basically sabotaging the IP with how half-assed they handled the game.
Reminder that arenafags think shooting the ground is peak skill.
>Epic Gays junked their latest UT because fortnite BR got popular
I'll never forgive them for this
They had no idea what the fuck they were doing with that game, it would have died regardless.
I'm glad Paragon has survived, even though it's split into two games from two studios using the same assets, it's currently the only dotalike I've ever bothered playing and I like how it has normal TPS controls.
Fortnite is unironically the only arena shooter around
The last Arena shooter I played was Open Fortress and it was quite fun, but it's practically dead
Open Fortress had a week or less of activity because TF2 was particularly bad with its bots, but then VALVe "fixed" the issue and now OF is dead as shit
I didn't like OF that much because it had no armor system. It made some guns just too good and really easy to die in general.
Arena shooters died when tribes died
>Ghandi won't be in the new season of Clone High because pajeets will flip a tit
I hate Indians, sirs
I miss Tribes.
Lets say a arena shooter game was released today without any of the modern gaming trends like BR. How long would it last before the population goes down to the niche 1k players?
You fuckers say this but never put your money where you mouth is whenever a new one comes out.
Its the same with the "we miss RTS games" crowd.
I blame valve for killing RTS games and arena shooters.
Complaining is easier than encouraging other players to try out those afps.
They're mad at the game because the only alternative is being mad at themselves and they don't have the mental fortitude to face their own character flaws.
thx for reading my ramble
completely wrong. I want an RTS that focuses on strategy, not APM. it's not that hard to understand the difference.
>it begins
Define strategy.
the art of devising or employing plans or stratagems toward a goal
And how are you going to employ plans without apm?
APM is tactics not strategy
actually, even still, it's more like twitch reactions to the same routines and not really tactics or strategy
Give examples of RTS that have strategy.
they don't really. they're more RTT. closest I can think of is star wars empires
I mean empire at war
Then why are you commenting on matters pertaining to RTS?
I love em
No you don't.
You love the memory of them. But you aren't playing them.
I'm so sick and tired of this stupid fucking argument.
You were never good at RTS. You never liked RTS.
Just shut the fuck up, but thanks for admitting you're not talking about RTS in the first place.
"strategy" in RTS just means build order autism
Sup Ganker?
I remember calling this UT2017
then calling it UT2018
then calling it UT202X
then calling it dead
UT99 and UT2K4 had assault mode, which no game has replicated, even still to this day
UT2K4 also had Invasion RPG, a mod / game mode that no game has replicated, even still to this day. Killing floor is sorta similar in concept but missing a lot of the coolest stuff in it.
The worst part is just sitting in a fucking menu waiting for the game. In every other arena shooter, even fucking Xonotic / Warsow, I can wait ON A SERVER and jump around the map / practice running between armors while people join.
Fortnite was originally just a coop survival game with crafting to defend against zombies. They actually pulled the UT devs off to make the Fortnite BR mode. They did it in 6 weeks. It's actually incredible.
Why's epic sweeping the entire franchise under the rug? Literally none of the games can be boguht/obtained legally.
Are they really gonna start calling their engine the fortnite engine?
>Necris in an edgy hood
was this even available skin in game?
I remember playing until I got some black armor skin, but then everything after that was some unappealing stuff, so I continued to play the game just to have fun
people want a game they can properly commit to
people don't want to commit to a game that will die out quick
people want to commit to a game with a longstanding large active playerbase
no existing afps has this
————————————
A catch 22. Lets face it unless arena shooters return to it's popularity back in the 90s/2000s you'll never going to get a well populated afps in this age.
https://steamcharts.com/app/282440
go play it then
sex with nyx
say whaaaaat?
They peaked early and had no room for growth without stapling on unnecessary gimmicks that took away from the core of skill based shooting like oversized maps with vehicles. Halo cemented the death of shooters by popularizing the genre on consoles, a platform wholly unsuited for arena shooting, further driving the development of aforementioned unnecessary gimmicks.
The only thing they really did dirty about Gandhi was making fun of his penis size. You can't do that to a man when he's not around to defend himself.
play overwatch deathmatch
>skill this
>skill that
>meanwhile 99% of the fucking losers that post on this site suck shit at video games
fuck outa here you posers
Yeah, we're the 1%
40% LG accuracy isn't the best but surely it isn't bad no? I think at my peak I had 45% LG accuracy and 75% rail accuracy in Quake Champions.
What the fuck are "arena shooters".
Shooters that mostly rely on aim, map knowledge, and familiarity with movement exploits with little-to-no functional difference between players.
>little-to-no functional difference between players
This is only true at spawn, in terms of how it actually plays it's some guy with the spawning plinker getting dunked on by someone with 3x his health and a railgun.
Really shitty dead genre that for some reason has a bunch of delusional old heads in here thinking it took more skill than any modern shooter that people actually enjoy and play. They just cope of days gone by.
In the year 2053, people are going to be playing competitive MMORPGLMAFOLOL games in VR, and zoomer gays will be on here claiming that battle royale games required more skill. It'll never change.
Counterstrike and halo would be the battle royale equivalent for boomers, arena shooters being on top was very brief and online gaming was tiny when it happened

nothing could take less skill than modern zoomershooters because they're all built around obfuscating the true extent of you being trash
>SBMM to lock you in with other shit players
>team play elements to obfuscate you sucking ass since you can just blame team as a cope
>games split into "roles" to not overwhelm you
>most situations never ask more of you than to show up into a fight as a warm body to perform your role
now contrast this with quake for example with no SBMM so you get dropped into a lobby with sweaty igor with 3000 hours in the game that you literally can't even look at without:
>dying instantly
>being ignored by them since they don't even recognize you as a real player
>realizing you don't know how to move in a straight line without fucking up because the movement is skill based
>having no layer of obfuscation to hide behind if you suck
>no safe space communities for noobs you can cry to on reddit after you finally win a match for acknowlegement so all you have to work with is your own personal resources, maybe you can find a strafe jump tutorial on youtube?
They still exist, but you are too much of a normie to go and play them because the other normies aren't playing either
Basically, you a re massive gay
Define arena shooter, because gays attach the label to any boomer shooter like retards attach analog horror to literally anything scary involving tech that's outdated.
bad morning sirs
>new arena shooter comes out
>arena shooter fans cry because it's not a near carbon copy of quake 3 or UT2K4
>it dies
>arena shooter fans complain about their genre being dead
>they also don't go back and play old arena shooters together, instead they just complain
yawn
>i miss arena shooters
>active players for newest arena shooter: 4
bump
then play them
I miss tribes
I miss going fast and shooting fast
Fuck 2D
tribes isnt an arena shooter its an fps-z, a genre probably more dead than arena shooters
He's right you know
n-n-n-no he's w-w-wrong because.....because......
those arena shooters were bad because uuuuh they didn't innovate.....or something
expand they way you see and play this in multiplayer
im shit at them, but i still like them. theres just something about playing on the maps i find satisfying. its like gaming distilled down to a purity, where it becomes only about the design of the map. my favorite mode was always pure deathmatch
They've kinda dug their own grave with no means of new player retention, while fans of the genre are also stuck in schizoposition of wanting new games to be prettier carbon copies of the game from 90's and also exclusively playing said game from the 90's, because they don't actually need or want the same game but with higher system requirements.
>skill expression
Anon, modern gaming. That can't exist anymore.
Arena shooters (especially quake) communities always kill new attempts at arena shooters with their insane demands from developers
>It needs to be exactly like quake 3, while being completely different in every way
diabotical was ripping off QL3 and mixing in OW but even still it died in few months, the playerbase for these games is never going to tap into mainstream audiences because the mainstream audiences want casual fun where you can brainlessly run around collecting battle pass unlocks while watching streamers, there's also the fact the games don't work on consoles and zoomers have very little interest for intrinsic motivators such as getting better at a game and enjoying being good at a game so they can't even get through the door when it comes to arena shooters because they all generally require a minimum investment of learning how to move and learning how to switch weapons and if you decline to do so you will have a HORRIBLE time since you're basically an NPC mook for all the people in the same server
if you did the opposite ie. make an arena shooter for casuals you would end up with something like apex legends 3v3 arenas or overwatch FFA lobbies where half the lobby runs around as a roadhog or moira looking for easy kills and the 1% who try to take it seriously would just retreat to their own community
>i miss games where you had to be a no life autists to compete
thank god they are dead
false premise
you weren't getting stomped because others "no-lifed" the game, you were getting stomped because the other guy was much better than you, plain and simple
>dont have time to sit in your basement and practice rocket jumping 24/7?
>guess you not good enough
there is a reason arena shooters are dead
Merely a coincidence that he had 1.5k more hours per year than me
it coincided with the fact that he is more skilled than you at the game, therefore he enjoyed it more, as opposed to a shitter who gets stomped on the regular and gradually loses the desire to play the game, yes
>remove your best character from show because street-shitters got offended over a relatively positive depiction of their pedophilic crypto-nazi national "hero"
>i miss arena shooters bros...
No, you don't. Nobody does. If people would miss them and there was demand for Arena shooters not every fucking new Arena shooter from the last 10 years would be dead on arrival.
There are plenty of alive Q3A servers. Mostly they use CPMA or OSP mods (osp is just enhanced vq3 with qol improvements).
>tfw still have an 8~ people group to play CPMA with
Feels good.
wtf is this shitty thread? talk about clone high nobody gives a fuck about arena shooters
i'll make a better stealth thread later
wtf is clone high. some zoomer shit?
>claims to miss arena shooters
>only need 1 other player to player with
>ffa servers are often populated
>there are always pickups for team games in the evenings
afps larpers are so fucking cringe. on par with IRC larpers.
If you want a real battle royla eplay BF 2042. You get to dive with planes and run people over, but you dotn have to lot, wait forever, and you can respawn. Way better, they d just need better map and more pubg like layout, buildings, doors, interactivity in general.

Ok boomer

Say what?
