I miss it so much bros. Nothing came close to the feeling this game gave me.

Did they ever fix garrus' face in the og game? Not a fan of the remasters.

      Anonymous

No but you can fix it (and most of the texture pop-in) even without mods with an .ini file edit. It's fixed in the remaster and virtually all problems with the remasters are fixed with mods.

        Anonymous

Yeah but in the remaster, when you watch the transmission from Eden prime, they just reuse the footage from the original game, they didn't rerecord it. Just lazy. It's also bundled with the other games, not standalone.

          Anonymous

can be installed separately if cracked iirc
the remaster itself was mostly a waste but the UI and modding potential make it the best way to play ME1 currently.

Any hope for Exodus? I signed up to stay updated when I found out Drew Karpyshyn signed onto the team.

It inspired me to start crearing my own sci-fi IP, maybe I can pitch it to a local game studio one day or make my own if I'm lucky.

      >pitch it
only if you copywrite it, dont' be a sucker. game studios want to make their own games. probably most of the peons working their have things they want to do too. paying an ideas guy isn't going to work. Only if AI becomes prominent in the industry and it takes way less time to pump them out. You'd have a far, far easier time making some short story scripts or do a feature length script and try to sell it. Shoot your own short story ones with some cheap locals and a few actors from the nearby college. Then the idea becomes more palatable, assuming the script is good.

I have a lot of concept art and a little music too and I've been playing with Blender but I think I'd better learn Maya or ZBrush.

I would stick with blender, personally I used 3ds max for over a decade. Max is the best imo, unless you're trying to do animation. Maybe it changed since I've fricked with 3d modeling, but Autodesk still owns both max and maya. The prevailing wisdom of the time was that Max is for scenes and modeling hard body, whereas Maya is really good for doing things like face rigging and animation. It also has a lot of tools for quick organic modeling, usually more cartoony characters.

But blender is very, very good. Max is still more powerful, and ofc I know how to use it much better, but blender is an incredible tool and I think far more valuable in the future to know how to use as opposed to max or maya.

zbrush is a shitshow. if you want to sculpt, my opinion is get mudbox. It's 100x easier. it fits in with the workflow of all autodesk programs (max, maya) and works quite well with mudbox. zbrush might be what the pros typically use, but the learning curve is so steep, you're probably gonna jump ship. Whereas mudbox can have you sculpting and using the program within an hour.

*it works quite well with blender

Don't even fricking try zbrush. it's a waste of your harddrive space unless you're trying to get a professional job in sculpting. if you wanna do texturing work, mudbox is great as well. but substance painter is really easy too.

We have failed as humanity, instead of creating other such great and original sagas, what have we done? What did Bioware do? Shitty sequels. And even now they are making a Mass Effect for 2029 that no one asked for and which will not have what made Mass Effect special, that is, people passionate about star trek and scifi who wanted to write THEIR universe, the next Mass Effect was born from Bioware's desire to profit from its brands because today's capitalism does not allow the creation of new IPs. Frick this market, full of wasted opportunities and useless games that don't serve us players but the companies and idiots who buy their mediocre products.

I give the original mass effect a HUGE load of points if only for how original the game setting is. Yes, the combat is dreadful. And the mako, levelling, mechanics, are all very average. But just being in that world, it's one of those games that you think "I wish I lived in this world", it feels so real. Really rare to get even a shade of that from a modern game.

I love ME, but after having spent so much time with ME2 and ME3 game mechanics, it's hard to go back to the first game. Wish Bioware could have somehow incorporated the latter mechanics into ME LE.
