>let's slap random ugly shapes all over charizard with no thought whatsoever! >let's keep on making these power creep mechanics every gen!
mega evolutions were a mistake
>Still in Masters EX, GO, Unite, SSB Ultimate, anime until Horizons and referenced in SV with roaring moon's design >While Z-moves and Dmax are long dead and buried
I played through X recently and didn't use a single Pokemon that can Mega Evolve. I wish I could've given the Mega Ring at the Tower of Mastery to Serena instead. It's useless to me.
Megas were “good” because of the idea of your favorite Pokémon being elevated to a god, and the idea a neglected pokemon being allowed to have value instead of being stuck was a worthless shitmon.
In practice. It pretty much Game Freak saying all but 46 Pokémon are unworthy of being ace-mons. Balance wise. Most went to pokemon that were already decent to overpowered already. Most of the few that got them and needed them couldnt compete with the broken megas making them pointless. the very few that went to Pokémon that needed them and were actually good ended up being a monkey’s paw when megas were erased while the Torkoal and Pelliper laughed their asses off because despite not getting flashy forms game freak respected them enough to give them actual buffs
Theres also the cool factor/appeal the masses
Z-move: do a silly dance
Tera: put on a oversized sparkle hat
Dyna: 50/50 on whether you end up like a cool kaiju or a parade float
Mega. Become a super saiyan (some lean into goofy like Slowbro, but most went in the direction of cool)
> I really don’t get the meme that megas were good
Once you realize the people who praise megas are morons who never actually play PvP it all starts to make sense
Meges weren't really well balanced in doubles or singles. In both formats they restricted you to using just a handful of good ones and the handful of Pokemon that counter or complement it; it was too restrictive on team building.
Megas are good for all with good taste
If your ace is a shitmon the stones are a waste
Contrarians hate what you think is cool
If fun were an issue against it they'd rule
Double super saiyan charizard is fricking based
>Played Pokemon Y twice >Ace in first playthrough was a Gardevoir >Ace in second was an Absol >Can't Mega Evolve until postgame both times
I've got a lot of problems with Megas as a general mechanic, but the worst part of it was how stingy the games were with the items you needed. If you didn't want to use Lucario, the second starter, or Lati@s in ORAS, you just had to hope the game would let you use Mega Evolution without too much hassle. Mega Evolution was just a postgame bonus in Sun/Moon, but I still feel like I used it more in those games than I ever did in Gen 6.
>AAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MEGAS ARE LE BAD BECAUSE OF LE POWERCREEP >AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAH BASED GAMEFREAK KEEP GIVING US THOSE CHIEN PAOS AND URSHIFUS AND MIN MAXED MONS WITH FANFIC ROMHACK 10 ABILITIES IN ONE ABILITIES AND SIGNATURE MOVES WITH TEN DIFFERENT EFFECTS SO BASED UNLIKE THOSE BROKEN MEGAS LIKE MEGA AUDINO GIMME MORE FLUTTER MANES COMPLETELY BALANCED JUST BECAUSE IT'S NOT A MEGA
Anyone who criticizes mega because muh game balance is a complete and total moron who I guarantee you also has never played competitive be it singles or doubles in their life and is just parroting whatever crap their favorite youtuber told them to parrot.
It's absolutely remarkable to see when anon was 8 years old by posts like these.
No anon, just because your first game was X/Y when you were 8 years old in 2013 doesn't mean it was the best generational mechanic. In and of itself inserting that ruined Pokémon in a big part and brought the powercreep to a point that the gen 10 should be a hard reboot to keep the franchise's popularity at post-Pokémon Go levels in 2016
Slowbro can Mega Evolve in GO, Galarian Slowbro can't.
In order to mega a regional, you'd need [Region-name][Poke]-ite.
See: Aloraichium Z, which works on Alolan Raichu but not regular Raichu. G-Slowbro would need Galaslowbronite.
>Nooo we can't bring Megas back they were too unbalanced and ruined muh pvp
I wish that Gamefreak would release and maintain an ongoing Stadium/Battle Revolution game to cage up all the PvPgays. That way we could have single-player games with fun, wild gimmicks without worrying about the implications for the competitive scene in a children's turn-based JRPG
Honestly yeah. It felt like it was going to be a mechanic that stayed when it showed up in gen 7 only to get ditched in gen 8
The only gimmick I don't like is Gigantamax. Megas and Terra brought more complexity and uniqueness to battles while z moves were fun and occasionally mixed up combat
i'm glad this garbage gimmick will never return

Before megas are dead and buried too? Good

>This was the best generational gimmick.
Not a high bar, I hope they don't come ever come back
i hated that i specifically had to train an adamant/jolly zardman if i wanted to use the black one
All megas look like shit
No they don't
Terra > Z moves > Kaiju > Mega
I really don’t get the meme that megas were good. They were the most tacky and limited gimmick. Complete trash

Hardly. Plenty of shitmons got them.

>PvP
An entirely skippable aspect of the game, and life is much better for it. Competitive gays are pure cancer. You are killjoys.
> This was the best generational gimmick.
thats a really weird way to say doubles, but okay

I was around that age when Red came out and Megas are the best gen gimmick
There's an issue with megas ever returning.
Regional forms.
What happens if Ninetales gets a Mega form? Will A-Ninetales get one, too?
Only Gen 8 Slowbro could answer this question
Mega, branched evo, regional forms
Slowbro can Mega Evolve in GO, Galarian Slowbro can't.
In order to mega a regional, you'd need [Region-name][Poke]-ite.
See: Aloraichium Z, which works on Alolan Raichu but not regular Raichu. G-Slowbro would need Galaslowbronite.
Meowth got a gigantamax form while having 2 regional forms, neither of which could attain that form.
Mega wouldn't have been so bad if they actually gave the gimmick to Kalosmons.
>Let's shill the shillmons even harder and break the game even harder
Megagays need to be executed.
>Megas breaking the game
Gen 9 wants a word with you, hypocrit cuck mega homosexual
>Nooo we can't bring Megas back they were too unbalanced and ruined muh pvp

>We want the Digimon audience
Then just play Digimon homosexual.
I miss Charizard's _________feet.
i know theres a lot of people against your opinion but i just want you to know that i agree with it
