Why can't you actually use the Rotom that lives in your pokedex? Why is it not automatically registered?

How did Rotom suddenly become the most common Pokemon to ever exist?
Everyone has a smartphone now (aka a Rotom)
It was so rare back in Sinnoh days

Perhaps the implication is that Rotom was originally formed from rare lightning strikes and thus an enigma in nature, but with the wide expansion of technology they began to reproduce at a staggering rate.

I wouldn't mind a rotomdex IF THEY ACTUALLY MADE USE OF IT. You literally have a pokemon at your side that can translate what other pokemon are saying into human speech, so why the hell isn't that ever used in any capacity?

      pokemon don't have a language

I mean, even if there isn't a dead set language, theres enough there to be translated.

I'd also mention the fact that Meowth can translate what they are saying in the anime, but I know that will be met with "Hur hur, anime not canon, I WIN!", so I'll just leave it at the fact that scientists in game seem to think theres enough of a language to make an attempt at translating it.

I think it's neat. It makes the world feel a bit more real giving you an example of how people and Pokemon come together outside of battles. They should do more with it

Blame the fact they aren't allowed to use Porygon in the anime. TPC still resents the moronation of Japanese Children to this day for causing such a massive PR frickfest that Pokemon was the straw that broke the camel's back, so they've had to shill Rotom instead.

RotomDex in Alola was alright. It felt like this novelty tech that only few special people had access to. They also made sure to remind you that there was an actual living creature in your dex.

But then Galar completely shat the bad making Rotom not only live in your phone/dex/bike, but also be used as drones and even as the PC. There are Rotom fricking everywhere in Galar and they're all treated as soulless mass-produced machines instead of living beings.

    I mean.
    Rotomdex was funny, ONCE.
It was the Alola thing of the wacky region with a lot of charm.

But, they're repeating EVERYTHING from that generation the last games.
