I am a big fan of old school JRPGs but there are some things about them that aged pretty badly.
Totally agree. I would like to see some modem games with the best of JRPG elements. Mostly that feeling of exploring a new town, gearing up and heading out.

Doesn't really exist because you have world-map healing like Tent or a number of item options. Neither does finding a quest, especially organically. Typically an NPC has a one sentence hint at a thing existing you won't know the location of for 20 hours. Like Chrono Trigger side quests that are only avaliable once you can freely time travel or FF6 World of Ruins once you get the airship.
Going to town notice board, getting a quest and going out and doing it and coming back to town for reward is WRPG stuff. JRPGs like DQ, FF and even like Grandia were really linear affairs till the last 20% of the game.
