I didn't have wireless internet at the time(or a DONGLE) but I found that if I sat next to the back door I would get a workable, unencrypted signal from one of the houses in the neighborhood

I used to play Mario Kart DS on the school bus with other kids and I used action replay to change tracks other people selected, play unused test tracks, get infinite blue shells and infinite bullet bills and reverse every other player's controls so they drive backwards
people say gaming lost it's magic because of age but the death of little things like cheats, gamesharks, etc and unused content staying hidden within the final product shows otherwise
don't get me wrong hackers in mario kart were annoying but some of them made games more fun instead of just winning every game because lol hax, it made for a spectactle sometimes
my first ever game of MKDS online had some hacker flying around the map with unlimited stars

Personally I must've gotten really lucky because I basically never ran into hackers in my time online. Mostly just a ton of people snaking which threw me off until I learned it myself and then my eyes were opened.

It's worth for some of the tracks and with the DLC the roster is pretty good.

I miss everything but the multiplayer, which should be the best mart about MK. Snaking in dry bomber/egg car is more meta ruining than Waluigi and Yoshi combined.
