Didn’t they release an art book where they said the three Sephiroths where a hallucination, the real one, and for the third one they were like “hmmmm I wonder who this guy is :p”

I looked it up and while at first I thought his pronoun usage might be incidental, Ultimania goes out of its way to point out that the one you fight as the endboss reverts to the "ore" that Sephiroth used prior to learning where he came from, prior to the flashback. So it could be this Sephiroth isn't indicative of a future entity, but the past? I don't know man.

          >Ultimania goes out of its way to point out that the one you fight as the endboss reverts to the "ore" that Sephiroth used prior to learning where he came from, prior to the flashback
This is false. It's not the one we fight as the end boss in actual gameplay, but rather just the one we meet at the end of the highway and then again at the edge of creation.
The gameplay final boss Sephiroth uses "watashi" and I personally think that that one is just a whisper creation.

Sephiroth, Aerith and Red13 to a lesser extent are aware of things that happen in the future so they can alter how the events transpire in the remake. Sephiroth and Aerith seem to know the events of the original PS1 game and Advent Children so both can make changes if they deem it necessary.

The Sephiroth who talks to you in Remake is post-Advent Children Sephiroth.
The quiet ones are Jenova doing mind illusion shit with you (and with the black hooded ex-Soldier dudes who are deteriorating).

Should be pointed out that it won't always be "quiet ones" = Jenova, because those illusions talked to Cloud in the original past a certain point.

1997 OG Sephiroth is in the Northern Crater.

Sephiroth is never in FF7 anyways. He died in Crisis Core when Cloud threw him into the reactor, Its just Jenova or whatever.

Actual Sephiroth is at the Northern crater following the events of being thrown down the reactor. How he got there? They don't really explain, 90's JRPG/floated there/whatever.

Every encounter before the Norther Crater is just Jenova illusions, but the final fight is actual Sephiroth (twisted and fricked up by Jenova)

        Anonymous

The remake suggests that Sephiroth isn't manifesting through the physical pieces of Jenova, but through the numbered test subjects who have his cells. Like with Kadaj in Advent Children. Or maybe it takes a combination of the two.

I think this is going to lead to him eventually fully possessing the Cloud from Zack's timeline in part 3.

No, he is stronger, because the "final battle" Sephiroth was just a whisper-made fake, but the one at the edge of creation is the real deal, probably at his strongest he has ever been.

The Sephiroth we fight in Remake is a hooded figure taking on his appearance (the same thing happens earlier in Shinra Tower) and manipulating you into killing the whispers so that he can change history.

No, those are completely different individuals. The "local" Sephiroth like Aerith and Cloud only has tiny little fragments of knowledge from the parallel worlds. He only slightly improves his methods, like viewing as Tifa as more dangerous than in the OG, but he does not have some weird master plan as you suggest. As for the "unknown" Sephiroth, there is just no way to tell what he has in mind, he is just too weird and there's far too little information, though he at least SEEMS to be much friendlier and less malicious than the usual post-Niebelheim Sephiroth.

Sephiroth falls in love with Cloud.

Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina (Jenova) with the Ex-SOLDIER's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls him, and is overjoyed to find out that he has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when Sephiroth recounts the previous day's confessions to Cloud, he only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the Cloud he called is not the same Cloud he fell in love with. In fact, he doesn't exist in this universe at all. He is Cloud's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the Sephiroth's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of his crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

Honestly, have any of you ever gotten any pussy? I mean, I guess it's fun making fun of people because of your own insecurities, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than jerking off to pictures on Shinrabook.

What sports do you play, other than "jack off to naked drawn Wutai people"? I also get straight 7777's, and have a banging hot girlfriend (She just blew me; Shit was SO gil). You are all homosexuals who should just have a nice day with no Phoenix Down. Thanks for listening.

Nothing confirmed, but its implied that the Sephiroth from Remake remembers the events of the original timeline. Remember that his final words in the original timeline (at the end of Advent Children) were "I will never be a memory", which suggest that he could be breaking the fourth wall and rebelling against his role in a previously played out story.

Aerith and Cloud also seem to remember to some extent (Aerith has some mysterious dialogue which suggests as much, and Cloud has been getting vague flashforwards to later in the plot, like Aerith running away from him through the Sleeping Forest). Nanaki also seems aware of what is happening, at least to an extent that he's able to explain the phenomena to the rest of the party when they all start experiencing it during the final boss of Remake.

Zack is alive. The new trailer shows him making it to Midgar and talking to people in the slums.

But it seems to be an alternate timeline where the rest of the party is killed in a disaster, so only Zack and Cloud are alive in this timeline.

The ending of the trailer has Sephiroth talking about timelines merging, suggesting that Zack will eventually reenter the main timeline where your party is.

Both Evangelion Rebuild and FF7 had similar ideas, but that one already concluded. Now you got other properties doing similar things in single movies/games like in Starfield, and it will seem less and less novel by the time it really fleshes out fully.

what I always found hilarious about this scene is that they chose to cut to RedXIII howling but didn't include a sound for it, so he just howl's in silence lmao
they even do it again when everyone does their final moves defeating sephiroth, he just does the holwing animation with no sound
there's a lot of stuff like that in remake, like when the party is climbing up to the plate with the grappling hooks and flying through the air in a super cool cutscene, except their hair and clothes aren't animated and don't move at all with the winid that's supposed to be there, so they don't really look like they're going anywhere

remake was clearly rushed and unfinished

In comparison Rebirth seemed to have gone well. No unexpected "restarts" or grave changes in the dev team and they already seemed to have started development on part 3, meaning it's even earlier before Rebirth's release, compared to when Rebirth's development started before Remake's release, so they seem quite confident this time around.

The way they keep beating FF7's dead corpse over and over again and making it worse every time is just sad. I liked the original game but I wish millenials would just let it go.

I'm glad they've somehow spared FF6 over the years from actual additional content. The various ports have clarified certain things but it hasn't been run into the ground with fanservice bullshit that doesn't need to exist.

Impossible. It's way easier to complain about things forever.

I actually liked 7R a lot more than I thought I would, I just wish they had put the same time and resources into FF17 or 18 instead of doing weird meta commentary and alternative timelines with old stuff that was perfectly fine in the first place.

Why would you say that? FFVII Rebirth has, from what we know, seemingly had one of the smoothest dev cycles in the last 10+ or so years.

Yeah maybe, but it still really feels like the whole remake project won't be done for another seven or eight years and a lot of those old devs might be dead by then.

          >Yeah maybe, but it still really feels like the whole remake project won't be done for another seven or eight years and a lot of those old devs might be dead by then.
Why would that be the case? They started development of Rebirth in late 2019 before Remake released, so the dev time would be about 4-4.5 years.
Considering they already dealt with the hard work of creating the assets for most of the world in Rebirth, part 3 will likely be done just as fast or even faster, so the trilogy should be fully released in 2028, not including any possible part 3 DLCs.
