Alright, I came in unknowing but I am struggling really hard to get past Depot A, is there any tip you guys can give me? Or, perhaps, a better build?

Just save scum and throw grenades? Idk homie the game isn’t that hard
Not OP but I did Depot A today and the only part I struggled with was the area where you first see the human mutants and while I didn't directly follow the advice of
as it turns out molotovs or preferably magnesium fire bombs are great lmao, I did cheese the section a bit by taking out one dog then leaving the section to heal since they do all agro at once and the acid damage kicked my ass
Stealth helps greatly. Traps and grenades are very important too. On the bright side once you beat Depot A you have beaten the hardest part of the game.
Finish black eel quest line. Go through the robot area sneaking.
>better build
One Turn Man
One turn man is not so good for depot A
You gotta cheese the game till you level up
Grenades
Game is hard then you discover the power grenades and that trivializes it
Arguably nothing is good for Depot A because you're low level against hordes of mutants. Then you realize you can sneak through everything, and suddenly every build works.
Yeah and sneaking too, the less you fight in depot A the earlier you can go around collecting easy oddity XP to get your build online
all you have to do is make siphoner leather and you can overpower them all
That's clearly not true. They will immobilize you and maul to death. You still have to abuse doorways and molotovs.
i consider molotov abuse a form of overpowering
You throw the molotov, close the door, all dogs die. It's not build sensitive.
wait what, you're not standing in the fire and acid and beating the dogs to death as they burn? are you a pussy?
I will never forgive Styg that siphoner leather nerf. Frick you at least give it to greater siphoners.
Well, that's the role of hard cc in this game. You can't just have an item invalidate it. For one thing, it means you constantly have to slot that item. The game is just built to frick the player with cc because it is single character and not party-based. I'm not sure if that's deliberate, but personally I would like to see a different approach in the future.
Yeah but pistols are still the worst gun till you get to high lvl when it becomes OP
If OP is playing on normal which he should be, then you don't have to cheese depot A
I beat it my first time without even using grenades cause I didn't know how OP they were
>normal
Hard is the easy difficulty, the one I played for the first time. The only other difficulty is Dom.
>pistols are the worst gun
>not SMGs that have shit range, shit accuracy, shit damage, and ravenous bullet consumption
SMGs are so bad that the starring feat in SMG builds is Three-Pointer. Putting specialization points into Spec Ops reduces the cooldown of flashbangs. Commando belt gives a throwing skill bonus.
They only exist to finish off enemies that didn't fully die from your grenade.
smgs spit out more damage per turn than probably any other weapon, except in extreme niche circumstances
>One Turn Man
this minus the points in TM (taking TM without being full psi is a certified homosexual move)
Check Blaine for mutant armor or craft your own from doggos If you got enough tailoring.
First map fight will be hard regardless
acid resist, molotov spam, bear trap spam, caltrop spam
you don't actually need anything but universal tools to abuse your way through depot A
are there any quests that involve feeding tubes? maybe taking someone's relatively like a grandma off one?
I'll feed you my tube buddy
Invest in Molotovs and doorways/compact hallways and all builds are viable or sneaking if you're uh well a queer.
I might actually try a riot shield + sword build when the update drops.
In other news, Josh Culler uploaded all the underrail songs to his youtube.
Is med armor going to be made dom viable?
in upcoming updates?
no idea
I saw no forum/blog posts, what's in update and how long to wait?
>99% of the damage you take is ranged
>half of the enemies that are dangerous in melee hit so hard shields are useless
>knife Black folk are dangerous because of crippling strike deleting you which your shield may or may not do anything against
block is only useful against burrower spawn
I've done riot shield build with fist weapons that was pretty fun. It actually made shield bash decent since with traq I could use the bash twice for free with it speced and using TM. Was pretty reliable in 2 two turning Nagas
sword & shield sucks since you want to use all your AP on sword attacks, but sword & shield was really good before the AP rollover change. With 50 AP every turn it was enough to strike 2 times with your spear and with 10 AP you could do a shield bash, meaning there was no inefficiency. Now that you rollover AP to your next turn you're not actually wasting any by only attacking twice in one turn with a spear since you can attack three times in the next, so it kinda became useless over time.
You could always spec shield bash to be 0ap
>skill issue
Shield has best synergy with spears and not much else.
>Shield has synergy with spears
I got through Depot A with an absolutely cludged guns/thought control build. I remember spamming caltrops
Not that anon but I have got past Depot A and it wasn't even that hard. Should switch to harder difficulties?
no, because I suck at the game and people playing on dom makes me feel insecure, so I come up with roundabout insults for them that hide my weakness
Is persuasion worth it?
WOW
SHIT FRICKING THREAD, you LOW ENERGY homosexuals
Strength should also be the meat points stat in Infusion. Constitution should still be important for the planned stamina stat which can make or break certain builds.
I pretty much agree
The guys irl with the most hp typically have shit stamina and almost vice versa
god damn it no, thats a terrible idea, shut the hell up
if your going to do that shit just roll constution and strength into one stat
no, thats moronic
your moronic, con doesn't need nerfed so it can be your dump sttat.
my moronic what?
ass. your moronic ass
If Constitution was functionally exactly the same in Infusion as it was in Underrail 1 yeah I'd agree with you, but if Infusion takes a step to make Stamina a more active stat, I think it'd be better if Strength accounted more for passive survivability since a 18 STR/3 CON build should not have the exact same survivability as a 3 STR/3 CON one.
i really hope he gets rid of the stamina stat if he has one, sounds like a terrible idea.
That's it, Im doing some psi run on the patch before the inhalant cuckening
The limits on spells is so low its cringe
You are cringe, homosexual
Shut the frick up stygger
>Fortitude
>Increases the chance to resist some negative status effects, such as stun and incapacitation, caused by direct physical trauma.
>Derived from character level and Constitution (60%), Strength (20%) and Will (20%).
this is how styg handled fortitude
If he did stamina the same way, he could also split hp up, at least a bit. I could see hp being like 70% str/30% con, or 80/20. Toughness feats should still be con imo.
You are saying that con is too important because it affects fortitude so much, and str should affect health more
this is your moronic brain on motion
you are moronic because you can't follow conversations
I miss when Ganker was majority white westerners
Meh. Frick you, or whoever I was talking at. Both of you.
You may not like it, but this is what peak hammer performance looks like.
>Tungsten can
>No Stoicism
>No Iron Will
It's shit
>*angry pig noises*
replace hammer with spear and you might actually have a good build.
somebody do a max hp build
Already done
I just started the game, still in early SGS stuff and having a good time, should I get the expansion for a first time run or would it ruin the level pacing of the middle/end game? I want to craft shot gun shells and apparently the expansion has added shit in some of the main game areas
>should I get the expansion
Like, get it installed? Yes, absolutely, you can do the expansion content at any time
Right I mean more so if the extra levels and gear from doing the content will make the rest of the game easy
OP do you still need help? I am a nub at this game and just beat Depot A. I can give you the non Styg supremacist version of how to do it. You are definitely gonna need some acid rathound gear, which i luckily found in the second tile north of the entrance off of a dead lady.
How can I make this Though Control Knife build better? I'm liking the playstyle right now, making people scared and assassinating people then disappearing.
Apparently temporal manipulation comes with the expansion so I guess I'm getting it lmao, feel like I screwed my character over a bit though almost tempted to rebuild considering I'm at the point where OP is and having trouble with some of the raider sites off in the side areas, but then again the game is kicking my ass with other enemies in general so might just grit it out but also do want to try the heavy armor style builds
Why are the beetles so tough
>If below Dominating
to teach you about thresholds and resistances, to use tactics and observe enemy habits, To make psi seem (correctly) powerful
>If Dominating
because frick you, they don't tune for dom and the curve is all fricky. Cheese or die.
for non min maxxing, is pack rat worth it? I am doing plenty of damage with my shotgun build at this point. I want that QOL
I'm theorycrafting a super tanky 10 STR/18 CON Sledgehammer build and I can genuinely see a case for Pack Rathound in that scenario. The only time you should touch Pack Rathound imo is that you know you're going to carry lots of HEAVY shit, but you won't have the STR to support it. So maybe Tungsten Tin-Can Assault Rifle builds I suppose? They don't really level STR past 9, sometimes 11.
Why wont Captain Svana give me the option to ferry to Camp Harthor? This is right after getting the drill bits, do I just need to wait?
You need to get there on foot first.
But she literally fricking offers to do it for cash if you ask for directions this game pisses me off sometimes
I'm doing a stealth sniper high crit build with a lot of crafted electronics, should I do JKK or Coretech for the equipment rewards?
Do the fourth option
Which is?
Please give me opinions I need them
coretech, definitely. they got all the high end tech gear.
Thanks my homie you've got a good point since I need access to the targetting modual
Regret completing the black eels quest line 1 exp is not worth killing off a merchant that sells crafting equipment
Are any of the refurbished weapos worth it?
The only one at the top of my mind is the revolver, 44 is really good till mid-game.
What's considered the mid game? I've done pretty much all the quests up to the cube getting stolen and am about to hit level 18
rancor but you get it in dc
Is it possible to enjoy this game on easy difficulty and just focusing on the story?
The story is there and can be enjoyable at times, but the main focus of this game is combat.
So no, not really.
The main difficulty on normal is threat assesment and build composition, I die more from not preparing or being focused on the situation I'm getting into rather than just bullshit rolls (crawlers and their advanced versions are bullshit though I will hear no other opinion)
And the story is extremely non linear with many opportunities to grow tangentially stronger without being locked into one quest to do so there's at least that for reasoning in playing on normal
Honestly I want to see how hard is because I'm drowning in healing items and cash, and as I mentioned the game is difficult only so far as not respecting the organized combat encounters
>(crawlers and their advanced versions are bullshit though I will hear no other opinion)
Skill issue.
Frick crawlers they are the quintesential slavic DMs bullshit custom monster
>Ah yes, see it has fully adapted as an apex predator with a toxin that both paralyzes you and the poison also keeps you from using any medication without taking damage from the adverse interaction. They are virtually undetectable and have an ability that lets them escape to the ceiling after attacking, plus they have regeneration
Frick you styg my character would know to aim upwards and shoot these bastards down
Next time try not being a soft weakling and you won't die to overgrown ceiling spiders.
It's just an everyday household pest in Serbia. Sounds like a skill issue on your part.
>They are virtually undetectable and have an ability that lets them escape to the ceiling
Wrong. They merely move nearby.
At 10 perception and active nightvision goggles with a 60% increase to detection I can only see crawlers shadow outline by the time they start moving if I am also in stealth and can't see death stakers until combat starts and they're jamming their stinger into my butthole
Their stats are also boosted above average for supposedly level 12 enemies
Strength: 8
Dexterity: 10
Agility: 12
Constitution: 8
Perception: 10
Will: 4
Intelligence: 4
>get stung by crawler
>throw molotov
>miss
>run in fire
>put down caltrops for good measure
usually they break steath running through your fire and usually don't get back to you during the stun duration
I mean yeah fire bombs are how I've learned to deal with them fricking npcs need to sell me more napalm
cheat engine is your best friend for vendor/super steel grinding
I don't like modifying games, if the dev thought it was a problem then they should fix it otherwise the game isn't worth my time if it bothers me that much
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, It just saves me time so I don't have to leave game on 4x speed while I'm afk.
>At 10 perception and active nightvision goggles
i have 11 perceptions and nv goggles and i still never see those homosexuals unless i am one tile off. i think they are an example of just slav sadism being displaced from torturing the village moron to torturing you, the player. also "breaking line of sight" could be 20 tiles away in some cases. they do literally teleport. don't let anyone try to convince you they don't.
>slav sadism being displaced from torturing the village moron to torturing you
This guy knows what's up
I think I had 16 points in perception and frickers were still barely visible from two tiles away in total darkness, it's gets much better if you are throwing flares or molotovs.
>At 10 perception and active nightvision goggles with a 60% increase to detection
That's nothing lol
Yeah stats are all over the place. You can notice it the most when you use Neutal overload with critters
The real reason crawlers are the niggest of them all is this though
https://www.stygiansoftware.com/wiki/index.php?title=Crawler_Sting
Look up at the action point cost.
I hate them but those frickers are flagship monsters and I can't imagine game without them.
I don't have a problem with them in concept I just think they death stalkers specifically are way out of balance with the rest of the game. I did Save Jenny yesterday, where you have to save the woman from the burrower infested building and they surrounded me and killed my level 18 character, so I reapproached the situation with a different tactic (magnesium fire bombs) and things went uhh better, but death stalkers still just feel like a middle finger whenever they show up (in packs, of course)
>Sting costs no action points
frick this game lol
> He can't throw flares
>He can't reach up with his dick and stab it into someone that he's standing next to instantly and with zero cost
If you persuaded Gorsky to give you the key to th GMS vault, there is a corpse in there past the burrowers that carries mutant dog armor. If you didn't do that, then you can still side with the eels against the scrappers, and at least one of the corpses had mutant dog armor. Once you've got acid resistance, Depot A should be pretty straightforward
Didn't played for year, I want to check a new tincan AR + TM, but I have dilemma if I should go for supersteel, nimble, armor slopping + boot springs and never bother with more than 8con or just go for 10 con and juggernaut and tungsten armor and stay at 95% penalty. I had plenty of fun playing as nimble tincan speargay year ago in hard difficulty.
>Didn't played for year
moronic slav monkey, kys
>TM abuser
Be a man, pussy
If you already spent your levelups and somehow are too weak to win, you might have to just learn from your mistakes and make a new character. That happens sometimes in games.
Anyway, molotov wienertails are the simple answer. They are an extremely overpowered item that basically short-circuits the enemy AI because they don't want to walk over the fire. The dogs will try to shoot you but you should be paying attention to the geography so you can always run and hide until you're able to throw another molotov.
>molotovs short circuit AI because they don't want to walk over the fire
I too empathize with not wanting to experiencing burning pain
They don't only not walk on it, they behave oddly, running away even though the fire doesn't spread. Sometimes they will neglect to attack you even when they're able to, because they're just running back and forth to no end instead of behaving logically. For example they could move behind cover and wait, but their AI just goes haywire.
Compare that to caltrops, where they'll walk around them IF they can, but also gladly march right over them to attack you if necessary.
This game would be good if it wasn't fricking shit.
But it is a good game
No it's not it's full of obnoxious 'gotcha' design that serves no purpose but for the developer to wave his e-peen at you.
>No it's not it's full of obnoxious 'gotcha' design that serves no purpose
See
Why would I care what a hammer troony thinks? Tanking - MELEE tanking in this game is one of the worst and most unintuitive playstyles you can muster. This game is only somewhat fun if you're extremely agile, have consistently high initiative, and even then your tactics are mostly limited to the scope of abusing bad AI or killing everything in one to two rounds.
>Why would I care what a hammer troony thinks?
Because hammers are based and you're cringe in comparison. Being able to trivialize crawlers and most sneaky c**ts is great.
>This game is only somewhat fun if you're extremely agile, have consistently high initiative, and even then your tactics are mostly limited to the scope of abusing bad AI or killing everything in one to two rounds.
And yet you are here complaining about 'gotchia' moments lmao.
>gotchia
Dumbest ESL
ESL game.
You dont belong here.
It didn't even come out in a slavshit language on release, moron. It's made to mooch off western audiences. You're the one who doesn't belong.
Serbian devs, slavic game.
Cope and seethe at crawlers, amerimutt.
I'm a slav, and crawlers don't bother me, moron. I just savescum through them. Doesn't change that the game is designed like hot garbage.
>I'm a slav
Prove it.
>and crawlers don't bother me
Sure thing buddy.
>I just savescum through them
Lmao.
>Doesn't change that the game is designed like hot garbage.
Skill issue.
>Prove it.
I hate communism because my parents had to live through it and wait hours just to get basic groceries and meat was a luxury.
>Sure thing buddy.
I can use flares to see, or walk into them, or use molotovs with a fire resistant armor, or grenades ot lure them away or to attack the other mobs. Worst case scenario I can just leave. Reloading doesn't bother me.
>Skill issue.
Tanks being hot garbage in the and glass cannons highly advantageous due to poor AI is objectively bad design. Jagged Alliance is a 1999 game that has better AI than UnderRail.
>I hate communism because my parents had to live through it and wait hours just to get basic groceries and meat was a luxury.
Nice story, mate. I dont see proof however.
>I can use flares to see, or walk into them, or use molotovs with a fire resistant armor, or grenades ot lure them away or to attack the other mobs. Worst case scenario I can just leave. Reloading doesn't bother me.
If you can trivialize them like that and savescumming does not 'bother you' then why the frick are you complaining?
There is dumb bullshit in this game, but crawlers aint one of them.
>Tanks being hot garbage
Nah tanks are great and based, you get to trivialize the sneaky c**ts that are making you seethe.
Not entirely wrong, hammers are very reliant on having high STR and a good quality hammer, abusing adrenaline until you get around level 16 is a common pattern, yet nobody as bad as you make it sound.
Hammers do feel an afterthought given all the other good feats the other melees are, but that doesnt mean hammers are bad.
>Not entirely wrong, hammers are very reliant on having high STR and a good quality hammer, abusing adrenaline until you get around level 16 is a common pattern, yet nobody as bad as you make it sound.
A hammer build as far as I'm concerned is an exercise in masochism where you expose your bare ass to Styg to see what he can shove inside next. Initiative chads like me tells Styg to go frick himself with ridiculously high movement speed, excellent AP cost efficiency, and abusing the SHIT out of crits.
>Hammers do feel an afterthought given all the other good feats the other melees are, but that doesnt mean hammers are bad.
They're bad because they do one (1) thing well and that's one-shotting fodder consistently and reliably, which at some point every other weapon can do the same thing, especially if they're specced into crits. The fact hammers don't get a feat equivalent to something like the Warthog charge or whatever shows just how much effort Styg put into making hammers viable.
>Initiative chads like me tells Styg to go frick himself with ridiculously high movement speed, excellent AP cost efficiency, and abusing the SHIT out of crits
Putting your life on RNG's mercy is inviting to get you killed. Everything else is fine however.
Personally STR barefist is the best melee out there.
>They're bad because they do one (1) thing well and that's one-shotting fodder consistently and reliably, which at some point every other weapon can do the same thing
They can kill most of enemies in this game, and for the few exceptions you got Expose Weakness. Reliable high base damage allows you to frick up anything that gets in melee range.
>The fact hammers don't get a feat equivalent to something like the Warthog charge or whatever shows just how much effort Styg put into making hammers viable.
This is true however, and makes me upsetti Styg did even bother doing that.
Fricking hell even Magnar has some sort of charge/leap ability.
>Putting your life on RNG's mercy is inviting to get you killed.
Trigger Happy + Paranoia + Dexterity + Agility makes it virtually impossible to lose initiative (unless Styg decides to cheat and give an opponent 1000+ init), and you still always have the ability to manually start combat. If anything alpha striking is guaranteed to curb RNG reliance because you don't have to worry about CC.
Well, shit.
Oh forgot about the soda and JKK jacket too.
I knew this game was glass cannon favoured but that's ridiculous.
>Because hammers are based and you're cringe in comparison. Being able to trivialize crawlers and most sneaky c**ts is great.
Don't care, playing a light skirmisher is the most enjoyable playstyle. Though I do prefer 5 Con to the tried and true 3 Con albeit.
>And yet you are here complaining about 'gotchia' moments lmao.
Knowing the tools of the trade doesn't mean I like how that autistic Serb designs his game by any stretch.
>laying a light skirmisher is the most enjoyable playstyle
As if you cannot do that as a tanky melee build.
>As if you cannot do that as a tanky melee build.
If you're talking about that one leather hammer build I see shilled here, I tried it. Like all hammer builds it suffers from the same exact issue, of having too little options besides being reliant on the myriad of feats you inevitably have access to because Hammers have like maybe 2 or 3 semi-reliable feats in its kit. Decent because of stealth, not because Hammers are good. Ironically I feel more reliant on stealth in such a build then I would on a 3 Con fist build lol.
Hammers generally feel like sticking your dick in barbed wire. You don't get the same OP AP replenishing mechanic as knives do, naval combat is excruciating, and everything is pretty much just a chore.
Sort of. Most of the game is going for the low hanging fruit Oddities sneaking. Barter becomes pointless once you craft your end game gun. Then you get bored of killing shit because there's nothing else to do than rinse and repeat except you don't need the loot anymore, and the enemies don't give XP.
>Groin Guard
How many more femboys exist in the World of Underrail?
What?
