I find it hard to justify buying one of these
I have a laptop with a Ryzen 7840U and an OLED screen at 120hz, maybe not all that portable, but I don't think I've ever seen a person go outside with a fricking deck.
An Iphone 14 or better or a galaxy S23 or better is miles ahead of the shitbrick, also has a camera and you can call ppl u know
Literally why buy one when I have a gaming pc
So that you can have a shitbrick dust collector for just $600
Just got off a 7 hour flight, watched Fellowship of the Ring and played some morrowind on my deck, feels good bros
>I played a 20+ years game yay!!
You can play +20 years old game on any phone with a controller
Basically to summarize VALVe drones talking points which have been debunked at least thousands of times since 2022 by yours truly; >I bought a Steam Deck to steal nintendo games and play them at lower quality than I would have on the switch >I bought the steam deck to watch movie which I can do on any $100 device
The 'eck is a disgusting clunky piece of shit, it can't run anything past 2015, it locks you at 480p@25fps, it's total scam pretending to be a revolution. You should pass, don't touch it.
The irony is that every Deck thread is just PCvegans bragging about how they play all the Nintendo games, but at a higher resolution. Deck gays are just as much tendies as the most hardcore tendie.
>but at a higher resolution
I doubt that, even on my pc most switch games are running on 720/1080p just because of how much this shitty emulators eat memory.

I love how people go out of their way to make sure we all see their Deck is OLED version because literally if you don't look at the screen frames it's literally the same shit.
This is a complete and utter lie from a marketing bot. This website is nothing but marketing bots attempting to normalise consumption of their products.
Eh, if you're streaming why not just use a cheaper android tablet/phone and slap some chink controller?
Is what I do when/if I wanna stream on my Tablet.
I already bought the LCD as an early adopter of the deck so I'm just putting it to use after buying the OLED as a replacement for portable gaming. With my OLED I mostly use it while traveling and I play it natively, I do occasionally stream AAA to it from my desktop when I'm not able to be at my PC or living room TV.
I guess if you already had it, then might as well.
I was planning on getting one but since my tablet runs everything I wanna play, I just stuck with it with some chink aliexpress controller, and been loving playing every night.

If that works for you then no reason to get one. The Steam Deck is a luxary gaming device, people that buy it know what they want it for generally. OP thread is always made in bad faith by bad actors just wanting to shitpost.

I like mine. Dock with Bluetooth speaker, keyboard and mouse. Took it to the literal artic circle and all over as a portable pc. Preferred platform for metroidvania titles when I'm on the go and wouldn't rather play on my desktop beast machine.

it's perfect for emulation. the rest of the games I either stream from desktop or xbox. imagine sitting at desk while playing vidya like a cuck lmao

Yes. Every person on the internet types like this everywhere, without any grammar errors. Am I right my fellow totally human being?

I returned it once I realized it could barely run newer games like Helldivers and completely shits the bed on anything PS5 gen and above like Dragon's Dogma.
>b-b-but it's the perfect emulation device!
No, that would be this.
>PC games at 60
steamdeck barely does with anything new and this is about emulation >emulate wii u
it could if there was a port for cemu, but who the frick cares about wii u >price around 400
less
by emulate wii u I meant "emulate wii u or perform an equivalent task" like playing a game that would take the same amount of power as emulating wii u.
ARM just way better battery life. there's no device that can run full linux or windows with such a form factory and efficiency.

I have a huge battery bank so battery isn't really an issue. I'm just waiting on something smaller than a Deck to come out that can play up to Wii at least and is under $300.

well the deck is the best all around device for performance to price for sure but it's got half or less the battery life and is heavy and bulky, it's a good laptop replacement if you plan to use it at home or in a hotel sure.
Steam deck is great, but if you sit at your computer all day then of course you aren't gonna need it you lard ass
it's not particularly portable either, i would never take a Steam Deck out on the train

well then no shit you have to have a windows handheld, I just think it's nowhere near the same kind of device, if I had unlimited cash I'd get both but when I wanna play steam games, well I have a laptop and a PC. for playing games outside the house on transit etc. I prefer portability.

I never said I thought it'd be stolen, moron. I just think it's too big for the purpose of a portable, and it is. nothing to do with me being too weak.
Hey that's rude. I'm a lard ass and I don't sit in front of my computer all the time, sometimes I'm in bed and love my Steam Deck for that. Don't compare that planet sized guy to us, he's way more fat.
The hardware is great, but I wasn't a fan of the operating system. I hope the person I sold it to is having a better time with it. It's a real shame that the Ally is the best windows alternative. I had hoped the others would have turned out better.
Asus has been kinda crappy lately tho. I had a squeaky trigger on my Ally a month after I got the fricking thing. Now my right analog stick is clicking when I rotate it. How can we not get sticks right nowadays? My old ps2 and og Xbox analog sticks still work perfectly. Is this all just the competence crisis? If the chink handhelds were any better I'd shell out a grand for something that wouldn't break, but I'd need to research that more. The Allys fans are great though, nice and quiet.
I think over the decades I've been building pcs, asus and gigabyte have been the most reliable. It seems like only recently asus has gone to shit. But it's not just asus, they're all sucking lately, just asus more. The competence crisis is real.

It's me I'm the problem
That's one more reason to do it.
It will make you think about things you don't want to think about.
Or you will find something to do just to not think.
Is there an easy way to connect to steamdeck and transfer my games?
It's really tiring to use hdd and then use the weird ass buttons controls on steamdeck to do it.
But it lets me play tendie games so its good
What turboretrozoomercore shit is this
Why the frick would you need a frametime graph on a fricking gameboy game
Flexing with his oled deck
>"""HD""" remake
you didn't beat the game
i beat tour mum 😉

Become an hero.
Same.
>10 minutes for me to load a fricking game because gate is cancer
Proton*
But I was told Proton was perfection what's going on
Proton itself is pretty unlikely to be the cause of this
because the problem keeps repeating itself. Reddit pussies told me it's because proton must load windows libraries and directX.
Sure, but this maybe adds a few hundred milliseconds to startup, perceptible delays are something else
No problem, send it to me, I'd like one
>Another tendie FUD thread
The irony is that every Deck thread is just PCvegans bragging about how they play all the Nintendo games, but at a higher resolution. Deck gays are just as much tendies as the most hardcore tendie.
Not me, nintendo games are garbage.
My deck is a year old and never gave a shit about emulating that platform. I have some DS games, but that's it.
Switch games play like absolute shit on the deck
>but at a higher resolution
I doubt that, even on my pc most switch games are running on 720/1080p just because of how much this shitty emulators eat memory.
Fear and Hunger has been really cool on this
I've been playing f&h termina and nioh 2 on mine. Love this thing.

Literally why buy one when I have a gaming pc
So you can tell people on Ganker how amazing linux is
it's for people who don't have a PC they sit at home behind all day you fricking moron.
i know a guy who plays on a switch at work inbetween breaks, seems to work for him, maybe the same principle applies?
Expensive if you're 12 maybe.
I have the LCD and OLED and literally use them both daily.
This is a complete and utter lie from a marketing bot. This website is nothing but marketing bots attempting to normalise consumption of their products.
Nope, not a lie. I stream from my desktop to my bigscreen with my LCD docked, my OLED has taken its place as the actual portable PC.
Eh, if you're streaming why not just use a cheaper android tablet/phone and slap some chink controller?
Is what I do when/if I wanna stream on my Tablet.

because I have one of those for work already and want a handheld when in the truck for 14 hours a day dodging mosquitoes and brown bears

by emulate wii u I meant "emulate wii u or perform an equivalent task" like playing a game that would take the same amount of power as emulating wii u.
yes it can do that, the snapdragon 8 gen 2 can effortlessly run dolphin and do switch at 2x render, there just isn't a port for CEMU.
oh it's android again. pass.
ARM just way better battery life. there's no device that can run full linux or windows with such a form factory and efficiency.

It emulates up to PS2/GC and most Switch. No Wii U because it's android based, but nearly all relevant Wii U games are on Switch anyways.
That said it doesn't do PC, but I play PC games on my.. well, PC anyways.
hello fellow /hhg/ poster
Just got mine. It's pretty neat so far and the battery life is pretty good.
Odin 2 is neat. Did they fix the input lag from launch?
then give me it for free if it's worthless to you.
that's why i'm getting this thing. I don't value portable PC games that much. I do value battery life, weight and size and this emulates up to switch

Their only good products in the last decade have been associated with the TUF brand. And even then you have much better options.
can you resell it to me for cheap?
How do you regret buying something you never actually bought though?
i pretty much only play indies on 'eck. its a perfect device for games like dead cells, blasphemous, binding of isaac, ect.
not a fan of playing AAA games on it though. thats for my PC.
