Meh, the secret Legendary ending in 1 was always thought of as more of an Easter Egg for me and not something that happened. Him coming back off screen seemed fine because whatever, someone else made it off too. 3 definitively killed him on screen so bringing him back from that wouldve been embarrassing.
Instead of making more Halo slop they should have gotten a spinoff with him and compete with Call of Duty.
