I still cry at night sometimes, thinking about how much of a letdown this game was.
How hyped I was, and how shit it turned out to be. It's like a punch to the gut, and a spit in the face.
How do I cope, knowing that there will never be another good Bethesda game ever again?

may i ask what exactly led you to think that this game would not be a letdown initially?
I was running on fanboy fumes, and was looking through rose-tinted glasses. Everything that raises an eyebrow in the trailers and gameplay showcases, was easily coped and defended by me. It's my fault really. I trusted Todd since he kept harping on how much this game meant to him.
Thing is, I was expecting the main hand-crafted content to be good, so I didn't care that exploration was gonna be trash. But when everything turned out to be trash, it just hurt really bad.
I'm NEVER buying a bethesda game day 1 ever again.
> I trusted Todd
Never trust the Todd science
Like the 1000 PLANETS thing wasn't a huge red flag?
I must be missing something, but this doesn't make sense to me.
She's disappointed that you didn't trust the science, although you just said the microbe plan wasn't proven to be a better alternative?
Isn't science based on theories and proving them, not guesswork?
The 2020 pharma campaign pushed the idea that trusting science means taking the hypothesis as fact and the results as skepticism. It was very successful across most social media.
It just makes no sense. You're the one who's 'trusting the science' in this case. It's so fricking cringey. I can't believe they shipped this food poisoned diarrhea they call a game.
no you idiot the science is a rigid set of rules set in stone and if you question them that makes you a heretic
trust the science means do as i say
It's a woman. A menopausal woman at that.
Sci-fi writers don't understand science.
Yeap
Science is when universe is a theme park with ebin slace empire
Lol
>She's disappointed that you didn't trust the science, although you just said the microbe plan wasn't proven to be a better alternative?
"Trust the Science" means "Have Faith."
On theories, yes, but not on "proving" them. Scientific theories can only be tested and potentially falsified but never be verified. Science is survival of the fittest theory in the hellfire of ruthless criticism.
Sauce for picrel:

Cute philosopher's speculation but in practice science is political. Picrel.
Underrated. Because of picrel and the above post, I actually don't know what OP complains about. This seems like a realistic portrayal to me.
Nice picrel moron
>Picrel
>>no pic
The dialogue doesn't make a lot of sense in the first place
>women are stupid in real life
>women are stupid in game
what did you expect? we just went through a flu for whicch most braindead morons scolded u if you didnt take the dangerous experimental treatment. the fact that the npcs in the game are just as stupid in real life is to be expected
>dangerous
lol
lmao
More dangerous than covid at least
Covid for people under 50 with no comorbidities : 0.01% rate
Experimental vaccine of your choice : completely unknown effects
So you're given the choice between what is basically the flu and something which you have zero data about and even in the long run it will be impossible to prove anything about it.
If you chose the latter, you're dumb. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not into the 2 more weeks blabla, I'm just saying that at some point you had to make a rational decision between a fricking flu and some experimental treatment.
>xhe was hyped for a B*th*sd* game in the current day
From Morrowind to Skyrim the devs were 95% male and either Asian or White.
Fallout 4 to Starfield has had the most diverse staff in Bethesda's history.
Presented without commentary.
I understand, and I agree. This shit makes me more bigoted.
The Mass Effect Andromeda syndrome. The more diverse = the more ugly.
but Skyrim was also bad anon, their last good game was Oblivion
>good game was Oblivion
go away
At least he didn't say Daggerfall or Morrowind. Take what you can get.
Is that screenshot real?
Wouldn't suprise me, they really can't come up with anything timeless anymore.
Maybe a cringe example but like in vesperia the underlying theme about vigilantism.
Now everything needs to be about current issues. Its so in your face.
I dropped the game after I had this b***h force follow me after a couple of hours of gameplay.
Steal stuff, be badass:
SARAH DIDNT LIKE THAT.
SARAH DISSAPROVES OF THAT.
There must have been people working on the game who understood that a nagging middle aged women as a companion is annoying.
Only way people would forgive that is if she is young and hot.
The chances the next elder scrolls game is anything but garbage is 0%. Its so bad there is no recovering.
It's real, and so are these. All companions are the same person, but with a different model, and voice actor/actress.
Jesus, is there really nobody who is against the microbe solution? Surprised they let you choose in the end in that case, since they pushed that one so hard.
What's the point of multiple companions if they all have the same outlooks on consequential events like this?
>I join the legion
>everyone: you bad
Cope homosexual
approval seeking homosexual
Seems no one played this game in this thread. Sarah, Barret, and Andreja don't like what you've done. Sam agrees, but also doesn't care. You can talk your way out of their disapproval and even earn approval if you choose right dialogue choices.
homosexuals say it sucks to only have one person take your side, but thats the consequences of your choices. It seems some people are caught up on the fact that NPCs are not under obligation to suck your wiener at every single decision you make.
t.
if I was really him, I wouldnt have time to post on an Lithuanian car battery exchange forum.
I'd be too busy choking on Todd's BWC
>wow, your companions are all written to agree with the same option and have the same morality, why even have options?
>you just chose the wrong answer, you're supposed to talk to your companions to sweet talk your companions into forgiving you for being wrong
>being wrong =/= being different
>you just chose the different answer, you're supposed to sweet talk your companions into forgiving you for being different
are you being moronic on purpose?
dare I even take the time from assaulting my fat wiener to explain this to you?
You've failed to comprehend the original post, started spewing a bunch of cope and I'm moronic?
Game lacks variety in the writing of the companions, you're talking about some other shit about consequences.
no, i didnt you dumb c**t
people are upset about one single debate and I explained that people are purposely misleading
the characters are poorly written, both Sam and Andreja serve no purpose except to spout shit for their respective side.
stop being an approvalseeking homosexual already
And this comes back to every NPC being a homosexual liberal from the year 2020 because the piece of shit writers were incapable of doing fiction
most NPC (IRL) have worshipped s()yence for the last 100 years
I actually think her moronic take is fitting for her character, and agree NPCs should have their own opinions. But what bothers me is that the player's responses never match what I'd want to say. This is really common in questlines like CF, where all your dialogue options are fricking moronic, and then in response the NPC calls you a moron. Thanks Emil.
You mean you're not enjoying the moronic fricking bullshit quests Crimson Fleet forces you into?
fair point but every rpg has this issue, its just a question of how bad it is
It's the worst it's been in a betadha game. Worse than fallout 4
It's like if all your Fallout 4 companions were minutemen.
is there a way to kill companions in the game?
Nope, but the game will kill one for you if you like them enough. The one with the highest affinity with the player will die in the main story.
>if you like them enough
dammit
nah u get to choose between 2 differet npcs
The hunter will kill a member of Constellation. The game picks the two NPCs you interact with to choose from. So pick the one you are going to marry and Barrett.
Barrett's a bro though
That sounds like a you problem. Why are you a homosexual who needs to have everyones approval? Just do what ypu want and if an NPC doesnt like it who fricking cares. homosexual.
At least we still have Morrowind
you have only yourself to blame
My gf has been playing fallout 4 lately and watching her get frustrated at how shit that game is makes me wonder why I ever thought this was going to be good especially considering 76 between them
BALDUR troony COPING AGAIN
You will never be the real Fabio
Something about these aggressively ESL memes are charming to me.
>are
Perhaps... I was the ESL all along... bloody bastard b***h
LOOOOOL I love that you owned up to it.
FRICK YOU BLOODY
>How hyped I was
The writing was on the wall, it was your choice to ignore our warnings.
You only have yourself to blame for your emotional distress. Deal with it.
>How hyped I was,
you are a moron and there is no cure for your brain dysfunction.
I would've been happy with just Fallout 4 in space, but they couldn't even do that
Literally brainlet zoomer cam't walk in a game lol
I don't defend Starfield as a whole, but I don't understand why people here are so pissy about this one exchange. This seems to be a singular character's opinion and you're allowed to disagree with her. So what's the issue?
It's antivax morons seething that a fictional character doesn't agree with them unquestioningly
Oh. That tracks.
nta, but honestly I wouldn't even consider this an antivax thing, at least not necessarily. An uncontrolled release of *any* form of engineered microorganism, much less one with the express intent of being dangerous to some form of life or another is a stupid fricking idea. On a galactic scale it's even worse, because now you've introduced potentially infinite ways for it to get fricked up or tweaked by someone and become a much worse nightmare than 'muh scary monsters' could ever be.
I think it'd only be egregious if the game gave you "good or evil points" based on your perspective.
Like how Red Dead Redemption 2 gives you dishonor points if you don't blindly follow Sadie's murder hobo revenge plans, despite it being an antithesis to half the game's themes.
>because now you've introduced potentially infinite ways for it to get fricked up or tweaked by someone and become a much worse nightmare than 'muh scary monsters' could ever be.
How does a specific bioengineered lifeform make bioterrorism more likely?
Cross-species diseases are incredibly rare, let alone cross species diseases which evolved entirely independently
Considering that we just recently went through three years of a cross-species disease pandemic released locally entirely on accident, I'd like you to now imagine if it was biblical-level lethal and we were moronic enough to release it straight into the jetstream to try and combat the pythons in the Florida everglades. If the chance of it somehow managing to snag anything besides its intended target is within a twentieth of a percentage, it's too high for a release on any planet where people live, much less immediately rolling that shit out all over the known galaxy.
Think you're giving Bethesda's writers too much credit. Binary is the only way they know how to do things.
>Considering that we just recently went through three years of a cross-species disease pandemic released locally entirely on accident
The species that came from was another mammal and the cross-species transfer was only possible because bats were consistently used as food.
coolbeans theory
Even if you think it was engineered the coronavirus it came from originated in a mammal moron.
We probably COULD engineer a disease from another species to target humans with crispr but at that point you could do it with any disease.
It statistically can't be hazardous to human life. The chance of a cross-species transfer is literally 0 unless there's some common genetic heritage you don't know about.
If I dropped a trillion humans on mercury none would survive because the conditions are incompatible with human life. Exactly the same consideration applies to microbes.
The only risk is to whatever native ecosystem the predator came from. The alternative (introducing the natural predator of those monsters) risks compromising EVERY ecosystem with an invasive species in a way that we actually do see irl
Whats your point homosexual moron? Any more open doors you're gonna smash open?
I wrote my point you stupid homosexual just read
meds
glasses
>unless there's some common genetic heritage you don't know about.
Honestly not a bad point. If she made that argument, I would genuinely respect that. It's an actual reason for why she thinks it's a good idea that isn't 'do your own research' tier.
And yet you're the one making yourself seem like a high-strung schizo there, calm the frick down.
It's an entire galaxy, a marvel bullshit multiverse even, statistically speaking, it's already happened at least once. Cop out argument, I know, but this kind of thing just pisses me whenever I see it. Doing anything uncontrolled more or less right off the bat is the last thing any actual scientist should be recommending, especially if it's something that can be potentially hazardous to human life, much less lethal.
>Doing anything uncontrolled more or less right off the bat is the last thing any actual scientist should be recommending, especially if it's something that can be potentially hazardous to human life, much less lethal.
we had thousands of scientists proving you wrong with the cuckvid vaccine just recently
Difference was you had to opt into taking that. Yeah, I know they made it damn difficult not to via political pressure, but at the very least they didn't instantly try and turn it airborne and chemtrail that shit planet-wide. It also probably was designed specifically to kill some random animal species.
>it's not about being antivax, I just think it's bad writing...
>AIIIIEEEEEEE I HATE THE VAX I HATE THE VAX I HATE THE VAX I HATE THE VAX I HATE
Holy fricking shit you really can't help yourselves for 5 seconds?
ESL moron, im antivaxx and im defending the game characters not kissing ur ass no matter what you do.
Weren't you the first to bring up antivax as a topic?
no its homosexuals who are seething because video game NPCs dont approve of them
I used to think all the talk about "slop" on here was overblown, then Starfield came out and I realized how many of you simple-minded homosexuals really do just eat this shit up.
>mommmy noo mommyy the video game character got mad with my decisions in my rpg mommy MOMMY U DONT UNDERSTAND WHY DOESNT THE NPC LIKE MOMMY!?!!?
stop getting excited for videogames, expect nothing, everything you see is an advertisement. If it's good, you'll know it's good when it's out. What's the point in sitting here daydreaming about games that aren't out and you really don't know anything about? stop it.
This pissed me off so fricking much. I took the xenobiology background, so my character took the dialogue option that used his expertise and decided the aceles was the best solution. Then this fricking b***h had the nerve to get all indignant and berate me, the scientist, for 'not trusting the science'. I hate Bethesda so goddamn much.
Play baldur troony where everyone sucks your wiener
It's not about needing every character to agree with you, you stupid homosexual. It's the inconsistency in writing and the game's inability to take shit like your own character's background into account. I would be fine with Sarah disagreeing if she acknowledged that my character had actually relevant expertise in making that decision, or if she acknowledged that she *doesn't*. But she just treats you like some mouth-breathing moron regardless.
shes not anymore inconcistent than real life NPCs
What kind of idiot gets hyped for a Bethesda game.
Are you mentally moronic OP?
Do they ever give a reason why you couldn't just use the Aceles while still working on the microbe to make sure it won't be dangerous?
you cant make sure of that since microbes evolve
Now just imagine how you would feel if you had paid for that crap.
Like the disingenuous shills in this thread, probably
Expectations. Letting people down since time immemorial.
*wasn't
frick
The saddest part is these lifeless wooden drones are more realistic than other npcs on the market in 2024 because flouride staring leftists proliferated their cult that much, not because of any improvements in technology or game artistry.
>there will never be another good Bethesda game ever again?
It has been around 20 years since Morrowind. You need to start living in the present and play OpenMW.
Extremely well written woman, I don't know why people are saying this is bad.
>UC
So that's why I never came across this strand of dialogue people always spam here. The factions all seemed garbage and I avoided them.
everyone talks about whats wrong with the game but what would have actually made it good?
less loading screens?
linear levels?
different plot?
im a motherfricking starborn XD
Nothing. It was doomed from the start. Once they decided there would be instanced cells with dynamically generated locations and enemies, on a game engine that can't fricking do dynamically generated locations and enemies, it was all over. I'm serious about this. The tools they had are not up to the task and they never will be.
less loading screens, less planets, unique locations, less repeated dungeons
Sorry you're so down anon. I hope for the best for you and others too.
>1 for 1 covid reference/analogy
when the frick did it become okay to shove current controversial IRL politics into video games? wtf
>How hyped I was
That's your own fault moron
>I couldn't condone the release of an unproven microbe into our ecosystem
>I'm disappointed that you didn't trust the science
can't tell if based or cringe
I'd be concerned with myself more than anything if I thought Starfield was going to be good after everything we saw about it.
This is probably the worst place to ask, but my issue with the covid vaccine was that they skipped stage 3/4 trials to roll it out as fast as possible. Did pharmaceutical companies ever get around to those and how did they look?
You guys are just joking about not getting the COVID vaccine, right? It puts everyone else at risk if you don’t get it. Please be responsible.
I had covid 3 times, never took the vax and I'm still shitposting like there's no tomorrow
