The remake made the ship fully explorable made the combat tighter and more like DS2s combat system. a lot of encounters are randomized and a lot of the weapons have been changed and balanced better
It's overall better gameplay than the OG.
No reason to exist, remakes not done by the original devs always miss small details because they're not privy to them. It's an unneeded waste, like whoever thought TLoU a game from 2013 needed a graphical remake.
While it's not made by the OG devs I still feel a lot of attention to detail and care was put into the remake the environments look great the gore is amazing and lighting and effects are all very well done.
The gore isn’t very good. It might look cool at first, but seeing completely white bones poking out after shooting an enemy looks really cheap, and doesn’t feel right. There’s also the fact that there are intestines hanging out of some of the Slashers, when that shouldn’t be a thing, since Necromorphs get their organs converted into pure muscle in the lore, which is why they’re so strong. There’s also the intestine arms, but that’s usually only in the arms are unusable for grabbing.
Its a remake by the same company who killed the original franchise and company who made it. Nothing else needs to be said and any opinion otherwise is invalidated.
This one actually works on PC. Besides that, it’s mostly QOL changes >weapons are now found instead of bought >all weapons are now actually useful >Isaac now actually talks >bunch of side missions that encourage you to backtrack a bit >0G movement from the other games
But if you own the original on console, there is really not many reasons to buy the remake
>weapons are now found instead of bought
How is this an improvement? >all weapons are now actually useful
They always were. >Isaac now actually talks
Eh. Gunner’s performance felt off for this game. I don’t know if it’s because he’s older than he was when he started voicing Isaac, but he sounds different. >bunch of side missions that encourage you to backtrack a bit
Doesn’t that mess with the pacing of the original? >0G movement from the other games
It’s fine, but I wouldn’t really call it a big improvement. Old Zero G worked just fine.
>How is this an improvement?
You no longer have to worry about buying a weapon only for it to turn out to be dogshit. Especially on higher difficulties where you really need the cred >They always were.
Flamethrower and Contact gun were straight up trash. The necromorphs just walked right through it >Eh. Gunner’s performance felt off for this game. I don’t know if it’s because he’s older than he was when he started voicing Isaac, but he sounds different.
Not saying it was a good performance. Just saying it’s nice that Isaac actually responds and comes with suggestions rather than act like a robot. Also more immersive during the Nicole segments >Doesn’t that mess with the pacing of the original?
Only if you ignored them and try to do all side missions before leaving the ship. Also useful if you’re low on supplies >It’s fine, but I wouldn’t really call it a big improvement. Old Zero G worked just fine.
I guess I’m a bit biased because I played the og on PC and was subjected to the 0G instant death bug 5+ times
I’d easily trade Isaac talking if it meant getting Keith Szarabajka back to play Kyne. He was by far my favorite performance in the OG. I’m actually surprised that a majority of the OG cast didn’t come back, but they managed to bring back both Gunner Wright as Isaac, and Tanya Clarke as Nicole.
No reason to exist, remakes not done by the original devs always miss small details because they're not privy to them. It's an unneeded waste, like whoever thought TLoU a game from 2013 needed a graphical remake.
Some new things I liked were Isaac talking now, which also includes a new feature they added where Isaac has 3 different kinds of lines the game chooses on depending weather or not he’s at normal health, critically wounded, or tired from running. There’s also a few more different cycles for his heartbeat and breathing. They included some other features like a L4D AI Director, choosing weather or not to shut off lights or oxygen for some sections, and other things. The Ishimura is also completely interconnected now, so you can backtrack whenever you want, and complete side quests. There’s more stuff too.
Here are some of my personal gripes though.
Some suit redesigns are either nothing like the original, or just bad. The new DLC suits are boring. They got rid of the old DLC suits and weapons. Adam Sandler Isaac and Granny Nicole. Bad rewrites. Bad redesigns for the Slashers. Pointless weapon reworks. Flamethrower fire doesn’t turn blue when the damage gets fully upgraded, and it still doesn’t work in vacuums despite that being a mistake in 1 that got fixed in 2 and 3. I could go on.
As someone who actually 1) plays video games and 2) played the original, it's a solid remaster of the original and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Literally all of the hate stems from contrarians and /misc/ being fragile as ever.
That is good to read and I look forward to them making an original Dead Space game, but I think the OG dead space holds up to this day and hence i wasn't interested in a remake.

I'm going to finally pick it up now that i have the spare change and it's marked off. I'm less sensitive than most of Ganker are on this subject unless it's bad enough for me to really take notice.
god i hope they won't butcher DS2kino like they did with this shit, anyone supporting EA much less EA Dead Space 2023 needs to be banned from gaming asap. Callisto was unironically better because there is a potential for a great new series unlike this that only made it worse for ''modern'' audience
he fricked up yeah but the recent DLC showed they still have it if they try for real, as i said there is a potential there if they actually listen to the feedback which seems they do atleast in some category.
he fricked up yeah but the recent DLC showed they still have it if they try for real, as i said there is a potential there if they actually listen to the feedback which seems they do atleast in some category.
I really hope that Glenn and his team can make an even better game if they decide to make Callisto 2, or move on to a different horror series. There’s lots of ideas and fear I think they could’ve added to make the game better, and improvements they could’ve made if they decided to play test some more or delayed the release by a few months. Regardless, I still liked the game, and I appreciate they’re listening to the community when it comes to ways they can improve Callisto.
yeah i did like the game too and i believe they wanted to delay the game but were propably pushed by the Dead Space Remake release date being quite close to Callisto and so they just decided to release it there and now.
I know most of these are from 2 and 3, and only a few of these are actually in 1, but I still prefer these designs over the new ones. It really feels like they made 1 or 2 models for the Slasher, slapped some clothes on it for the different variants, and called it day, when they could’ve added som new variants like they did with the Enhanced Lurker having two heads. I hope they actually take the time to make more unique models if the they remake Dead Space 2, but I’m not very optimistic.
I honestly really want to see Motive make a new Dead Space game that's not a remake
That way I feel we can truly judge if they have the talent to make a good Dead Space game or not.
I enjoyed the remake but the blueprints for an amazing game was already there since again it's a remake
Yeah it seems like a lot of series embrace the open world meme to try to innovate but in Dead Space's case Metroidvania is just the natural progression for the series.
I think it’s more likely for them to frick up. 2 is already a really good game, and it has the highest chance of fricking up because of it. 3 is such a dumpster fire that they’d need to rewrite a big chunk of for it to be passable, and possibly even rework weapon crafting so you can’t trivialize the game by paying real money. Who knows if they’ll do anything with the spin-offs or DLCs, but I wouldn’t count on it. After that, it’s all new from there, and I don’t have high hopes, since I really didn’t like the story changes they made to 1.
>new dead space
Frick off. This series already got raped to death, and you ask EA to do it again? The best parts of the DS remake was shit that was already in the original game and which these fricks didn't manage to ruin with their "modern.interpretation". If they're allowed to make a "new dead space", they won't have anything to latch onto besides the brand.
That’s just how Fodders look. They were okay, but I feel like they could’ve done more with the mutations they go through after they get damaged enough. They were also based off of an old concept for Necromorphs that never made it through because of how much effort it’d be to put into the game.
Also, the Feeders are mostly just skinny blind zombies, but they’re still pretty cool, and probably my favorite new type of enemy in 3, even if they’re most just a reworked version of the Pack from 2.
Lazy cashgrab done by the same people who killed off the franchise and the people who made it, so they just wrangled some expendable morons to give a classic like Dead Space their shitty "modern interpretation"
I refuse to believe anyone praising this shit is a genuine human being. The alternative are non-gamer homosexuals who weren't even around while EA was murdering everyone's beloved studios and franchises.
Are you actually fricking stupid? Because your comment has nothing to do with what I said.
I'll repeat: EA killed Dead Space. I refuse to believe everyone collectively forgot about it and just clap while they attempt to milk the corpse for money all these years later.
No, it's fully related. You homosexuals also unironically told people that they should buy the game full price, giving all that money to EA, the people who killed the series and the studio who created it in the first place. And now gays actually want EA and their pajeets to make a 4th game, without Dead Space's content to ride on.
Face it, if somehow EA actually makes a 4th game without Visceral around, it will just finish off the franchise for good.
I'm not trying to defend EA. This game is just a "lazy cashgrab" in the way any other remake is. You're trying to argue about something that's hardly pertinent. Everyone agrees with most of what you have to say you're just being harsh to the game itself. That's what this thread is about anyways.
If people actually played and beat the original we wouldn't have homosexuals saying the demake surpassed it. Have they actually fixed the fact that swarmers actually have no animation of swarming all over Isaac yet by the way? I imagine not.
>nostalgia homosexuals >never played the original
So... Basically everybody? Just a tiny handful of people that kind of liked the original think this is bad?
The people that still hate EA haven't bought it and can't review it at all.. I haven't touched the CnC remake too. I can't believe people were so moronic that they thought if that game sold well, it would mean more CnC.
i mean i think around half of the people who gave a positive rating to this were either nostalgia homosexuals or people who never played the original
I played the original and I loved the remake despite thinking it would be bad before it came out. >Lol your not a true fan!
Frick off moron I've been with this series since 2008 and I played the games the inspired it too the only fake fan here is you.
Loved the remake, be mad plebs.
The randomization of the enemies is the biggest reason I think I can always enjoy replaying the game. >went into a room where I got surprised and ambushed >actually dies >reload a checkpoint >went back to the room fully prepared this time for the fight >no enemies appear >mfw
Anons here always say you just need to play the original and not the remake since its basically the same thing and I disagree. There's plenty of new scenarios that make the remake feel fresh, replaying OG got stale for me since the enemies always spawn at the same spots and such.
The weapon improvements are also great, the flamethrower was pretty much useless in OG and I always ignored it. But the remake is actually really good and I actually kept it in my kit for an entire playthrough.
>Hammond dies to a Slasher instead of an Enhanced Brute >Mercer dies to a Drag Tentacle instead of an Infector turning him into an Enhanced Slasher >Isaac tries to save Kendra instead of standing by while she gets turned into tomato paste
Fricking why? I genuinely don’t understand why they decided to change these deaths that were perfectly fine in the original.
>Hammond dies to a Slasher instead of an Enhanced Brute
godawful why did they do it >Mercer dies to a Drag Tentacle instead of an Infector turning him into an Enhanced Slasher
godawful why did they do it >Isaac tries to save Kendra instead of standing by while she gets turned into tomato paste
she wasn't a complete b***h in the remake and they humanized isaac in the remake insted of just standing there like a tard so it's ok
dies to a Drag Tentacle instead of an Infector turning him into an Enhanced Slasher
I liked this. Mercer does nothing but make your life a living hell, always running away like a little b***h when he fails. And when you finally do catch him, he commits suicide with a smile and good conscience. Seeing him being scared and angry before dying was more satisfying
It’s more satisfying to stasis the Infector, kill it before it can turn him into an Enhanced Slasher, dismember his corpse, and smash his head to pieces by sending it flying force into a wall with TK.
I takes away from the whole hopeless vibe the original had, with everything constantly going to shit, and the world already being in a dystopian society to begin with. Having Mercer win in his own way feels more thematically appropriate with that vibe.
I honestly think they could’ve had Shen kill Hammond, and kept the original Enhanced Brute death. Just change it so that Shen just keeps mutating and changing throughout the game, and eventually becomes an Enhanced Brute. Hammond tries shooting it like in the original, but stops in pure disbelief when he recognizes Shen’s face, and then it kills him.
genuine question guys should i play the original dead space or the remake , i am not a big fan of remakes did they change anything from the plot or is it the same story with just better graphics
Play both, original is still great to play today then play the remake to see the improvements and changes, it's mostly the same story with extra plot stuff with the side quests in the remake.
Most of the changes are in the gameplay side.
Isaac’s parents weren’t apart of the main story at all, and it’s one of my biggest gripes with the remake, since I think the devs blatantly misunderstood what happened to them in the original.
Most of it is the same, but they did change a bunch of stuff too when it comes to the story and gameplay, and added a second ending. I would recommend playing the original games first. Try out the spin offs, books, comics, and movies if you’re interested, and then try out the Remake.
So many kino concept ideas were raped by EA. Carver wasn't meant to be a real character, originally it was a shadow Isaac hallucination, something kinda like Tyler Durden. It's why Carver seemingly appears and vanishes out of nowhere during cutscenes.
The bench and scavenging were meant to be far more deep and interactive but EA raped it with microtransactions.
Rushed game development forced the devs to make copypastes in level design, making a good chunk of the game boring.
Story was originally about Isaac being entirely alone and survive in a The Thing-like setting in the frozen planet but israeli moronic EGAY executives forced it to be more action-focuses with moronic melodrama that ended up flanderizing Nicole's character.
Yeah. EA wanted Dead Space to have coop since the first game but Visceral argued that the spaces were too tight in the first game to allow smooth coop gameplay and created the multiplayer mode in 2 in order to not implement it. They finally had the idea to make it coop oriented while making it fitting with the setting for 3 but EA was forcefully intervening this time.
Yeah, it's genuinely pretty bad. I'm the sort of guy who thinks Ganker's claims that all "normie" games are trash is complete bullshit and most are actually pretty decent but even I can't defend Dead Space 3. It has a handful of neat set pieces but most of the game is blatant filler and it has possibly the worst love triangle I've ever seen. They took such an easy way out with it I don't even know why they bothered to have it in the first place.
>Dead Space Remake Impossible playthrough >Manage to 100% it, reach the part Kendra delivers the truth to Isaac >Game freezes >Crashes >Reload >Marker extract softlocked bug >Playthrough ruined
Some of the voice acting was not good and the Necromorph AI was less aggressive. Aside from quibbles about the story mainly why did Isaac care that the girl that betrayed him was killedn that's about it. REm4ke took the wind out of its sales.
>mainly why did Isaac care that the girl that betrayed him was killedn
I haven't played the game but are you talking about Kendra? They didn't change the story with Nicole, did they?
She was manipulative, not a gaslighter. Gaslighting means that a person is trying to convince someone else that they’re insane when they aren’t, and Isaac was very much insane since the beginning of the game.
Gaslighting doesn't mean convince someone they are insane. It means to convince someone what they believe to be true is not true while knowing it actually is.
>"Necromorphs could be here" he thought, "I've never been in this sector before. There could be necromorphs anywhere." The cool wind felt good against his armored chest. "I HATE NECROMORPHS" he thought. Fly Me to the Aegis Seven Moon reverberated his entire suit, making it pulsate even as the $9 space wine circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of necromorphs after dark. "With a ship, you can go anywhere you want." he said to himself, out loud.
NG+ only, there's some marker statues you can pick up, then you place them in a room in Chapter 10. It shows marker-deluded Isaac on his way through space talking with marker Nicole about building the big Marker from Dead Space 2.
So what's the big deal about this? Every gameplay video I've seen of it looks exactly the same as the og one. There's nothing to temake.
The remake made the ship fully explorable made the combat tighter and more like DS2s combat system. a lot of encounters are randomized and a lot of the weapons have been changed and balanced better
It's overall better gameplay than the OG.
While it's not made by the OG devs I still feel a lot of attention to detail and care was put into the remake the environments look great the gore is amazing and lighting and effects are all very well done.

It's Dead Space 1 with Dead Space 2 gameplay. Although I found Dead Space 2 to be more fast paced when I replayed it later.
they lied about the DS2 style gameplay though
It's a 60 dollar graphical upgrade therefore a scam
The game was released in 2009
No reason to exist, remakes not done by the original devs always miss small details because they're not privy to them. It's an unneeded waste, like whoever thought TLoU a game from 2013 needed a graphical remake.
The guy who made the original has literally seen a full playthrough of the remake and loves it
he also made the callisto protocol which was trash
For every new thing they added, they took something away, or introduced a new problem.
Could you list examples? I'm still on a 970 so I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I'll get a new computer soon, really.
Some new things I liked were Isaac talking now, which also includes a new feature they added where Isaac has 3 different kinds of lines the game chooses on depending weather or not he’s at normal health, critically wounded, or tired from running. goofy ass
Where did the hair go?
Every big game gets shitposted into oblivion now. Americans have become very sick and that's what they post now.
hopefully they go the RE route and actually make new games in the series beyond just remakes. that requires too much effort tho
they refuse to release the original version
its still stuck on ps3
Anon…
It's the same game but what worse sound design, troony bullshit added, and modern meme shit like sidequests.
3 had side quests, and they were my favorite parts of the game. Especially the Carver ones where they frick with both players.
>yfw using the Force Gun in the Remake

>Mercer dies to a Drag Tentacle instead of an Infector turning him into an Enhanced Slasher
>Isaac tries to save Kendra instead of standing by while she gets turned into tomato paste
Fricking why? I genuinely don’t understand why they decided to change these deaths that were perfectly fine in the original.
>Hammond dies to a Slasher instead of an Enhanced Brute
godawful why did they do it
>Mercer dies to a Drag Tentacle instead of an Infector turning him into an Enhanced Slasher
godawful why did they do it
>Isaac tries to save Kendra instead of standing by while she gets turned into tomato paste
she wasn't a complete b***h in the remake and they humanized isaac in the remake insted of just standing there like a tard so it's ok
She shot both Kyne and Cross in front of Isaac. I don’t think it’s out of place for him to just let her die.
Both of them were unitologist prostitutes. Isaac should be simping for her
dies to a Drag Tentacle instead of an Infector turning him into an Enhanced Slasher
Doesn't matter, he's already dead by that point thinking he's won.
Doesn’t matter, I stopped him.
Not cracked
genuine question guys should i play the original dead space or the remake , i am not a big fan of remakes did they change anything from the plot or is it the same story with just better graphics
so should i go with the original or the remake
Play both, original is still great to play today then play the remake to see the improvements and changes, it's mostly the same story with extra plot stuff with the side quests in the remake.
Most of the changes are in the gameplay side.
>mostly the same story
Isaac’s parents weren’t apart of the main story at all, and it’s one of my biggest gripes with the remake, since I think the devs blatantly misunderstood what happened to them in the original.
Most of it is the same, but they did change a bunch of stuff too when it comes to the story and gameplay, and added a second ending. I would recommend playing the original games first. Try out the spin offs, books, comics, and movies if you’re interested, and then try out the Remake.
This would’ve been really cool if it was in the game.
Is Dead Space 3 really as bad as people say it is?
Yes. It’s why I will never forgive EA.
Story was originally about Isaac being entirely alone and survive in a The Thing-like setting in the frozen planet but israeli moronic EGAY executives forced it to be more action-focuses with moronic melodrama that ended up flanderizing Nicole's character.
>originally it was a shadow Isaac hallucination,
Was it still supposed to be coop? Isaac and himself killing necromorphs would be cool.
I love Dead Space 1 2 and the remake
And to this day I still fricking hate Dead Space 3 it ruined everything.
Yes, its terrible
>Dead Space Remake Impossible playthrough
>Manage to 100% it, reach the part Kendra delivers the truth to Isaac
>Game freezes
>Crashes
>Reload
>Marker extract softlocked bug
>Playthrough ruined
Not even your machine could handle the plot twist.
No but he's uncharacteristically more caring about Kendra when this mission was supposed to be the first time they interacted.
So they finally give Isaac a voice and he uses it to simp for an obvious gaslighting snake? That's fricking stupid.
She was manipulative, not a gaslighter. Gaslighting means that a person is trying to convince someone else that they’re insane when they aren’t, and Isaac was very much insane since the beginning of the game.
Gaslighting doesn't mean convince someone they are insane. It means to convince someone what they believe to be true is not true while knowing it actually is.
>mfw heard Ganker make fun of it and ignored it
>mfw watched the trailer now and it looks good

>troony redditor image
>trying to fit in
Embarassing
You have to go back
>"Necromorphs could be here" he thought, "I've never been in this sector before. "With a ship, you can go anywhere you want." he said to himself, out loud.
good one, have a (you)
so whats the new special ending and how do you get it? too lazy to google
NG+ only, there's some marker statues you can pick up, then you place them in a room in Chapter 10. It shows marker-deluded Isaac on his way through space talking with marker Nicole about building the big Marker from Dead Space 2.
That doesn’t make any sense in context to the original 2
They’re definitely getting cut, aren’t they?
>it actually smiles
Oh that’s fricked.
Visceral had a severe hatred of babies, and I’m not sure why.
I don't get why people hate this faithful remake over RE4 demake that changes not only story/tone/music but also gameplay.
