I stopped being a gamer and became a movie guy. Don't know how that happened, did I just grow up?

      The Boy Next Door
      Indecent Proposal
      Fatal Affair
      Scott Pilgrim vs The World

      what's your favourite movie

      The Truman Show

Have you seen 7 samurai? I can only recommend. Its a black and white film, so i hope you have no problem with that. Also the runtime is 3 hours

It's hard for me to get into black and white film, but I wanted to watch Nosferatu, to fully immerse myself into the Spongebob meme. The film is 101 years old, that makes it interesting to me.

There are a lot of old films from the 10's and 20's that are commonly shown with color tinting, so you won't really even be watching some in black and white per se depending on which release you watch. They switch colors between scenes and have their own unique and beautiful artstyle.
I don't know if you're planning on torrenting or just watching public domain films on youtube, but a Nosferatu remaster with color tintings can be viewed on youtube as well as the whole movie if you want to check it out.

If you ever want to work your way into becoming accustomed to black and white cinema. I'd recommend some entry level works you're more likely to enjoy right away such as Psycho, as well as Charlie Chaplin films (The Gold Rush, The Circus, Modern Times) and Marx Brothers movies (Duck Soup, A Night at the Opera) since you mentioned spongebob. Those movies alone should make you accustomed to the style, and then you could easily continue watching more acclaimed cinema if you want to watch Kurosawa's samurai films like the other anon suggested or old artfilms.

Quite simple really. Modern games are often like movies with an annoying need to press buttons to continue the movie. So of course watching a movie is going to give you more bang for your buck and time.

Watching fictional movies is a downgrade both in maturity and entertainment value. Only thing that changed is your energy level.

I did the exact same thing. I assume the next step is immersing myself in literature.

You're in luck, most modern games are actually movies

I played all of Yakuza 0.
And then I literally watched gameplay movies of RGG 1-7, judgement 1/2, and isshin.

Convince me to play rgg7 gaiden/ rgg8. Cuz right now, I'd have to say I literally prefer watching them and not dealing with all the bullshit fluff involved with playing them.

You're not wrong I enjoyed yakuza 0 but I wouldn't play it again

Videogames are about interactivity and watching them as movies defeats the purpose. If you don't enjoy the gameplay, then don't play the game. If you want to watch a movie, then watch an actual movie instead of a vidya cutscene movie on youtube. It's similar to how people who want well written stories are better off reading literature than they are watching movies. It'll be a better experience that way. Videogame stories, cutscenes, and filler segments are altered in order to meet an artificial game length deemed adequate by the studio or the current market, and I assume you just end up skipping parts in the youtube walkthroughs when watching them anyway which would express apathy in even watching the videos.
You don't have to play or watch the yakuza games if you don't want. Find something you truly enjoy.

Holy frick! I'm walking slowly while some character provides exposition! So interactive!

Play crazy taxi then. No one will walk you through anything in there

Forced slow talking sections where nothing occurs aside from exposition are inline with cutscenes and made by developers who need more filler and do so under the guise of "interactivity". Find and play games you enjoy, or find a different hobby.

The opposite, watching a movie requires less effort than an interactive work like immortality. You became a normie

I can't watch movies, every time something cringe happens it reminds me of something cringe I did so I just pause it, stand up and start pacing around the room. Because of this it takes me hours to finish
