i'll never understand the almost lunatic buildup and reaction to this game >inb4 zoom zoom
i had an N64 on release, ocarina was alright but mags were acting like it pulled your wiener off. i didn't even finish it for a long time 'cause i feel like it gets a bit dull as adult link
i'm not saying it lacked appeal, it's things like, "game of the century", like what the frick? also, i mentioned buildup because magazines were going bananas over ocarina long before it was even released, which again in my country at least it's weird because the pre-ocarina titles were never a big thing here
My older brother used to say it was super boring, although I don't think he played for more than a few minutes.
I think some people just can't get sucked into a virtual world. Downtime is seen as a bad thing, something needs to be happening all of the time.
It isn't even good. The 4 previous games in the series were all better, other games did 3D better. MAYBE if you only experienced SNES and then got an N64 and that was your only exposure to video games I guess, but it wasn't as big as you guys make it out to be.
It isn't. If you don't believe me, play it for yourself. Puzzles are lame, combat is fricking stupid and gay. Fricking Z targeting? Stupid and gay, not even an impressive advancement like so many idiots say..Combat is also less intense than previous games somehow, and the overworld is pretty empty. That goes for most 3D Zeldas though.
Story/plot is stupid, full of holes, and inconsistent.
2D just does everything better, all the Zeldas that came before OoT did EVERYTHING better, even the graphics were good.

Really, is he wrong?
I do like some of the music in Ocarina but it was a bit deflated when I learned how much of it was just copy-pasted samples. The Forest Temple theme is barely even changed from the soundbank it's taken from.

Alright, I looked it up. It uses a few vocal samples. All music is original. You are a total fricking idiot.
i think it was just an exciting time in general. Mario and Zelda were well established as the two big franchises by Nintendo who were still on top of the world, and since Mario 64 was legitimately groundbreaking you couldn't help but wonder how they were gonna use that same technology with their more ambitious series to provide a bigger and deeper experience like they'd done the previous two generations. i think OOT is a bit overrated too but I absolutely understand the hype
a very weird marker to put down, regardless of the influence meme. what is and isnt influential is literally always a press meme. moreso for music and less so for film. it doesnt really mean anything.
japanese devs use Shinto magic to develop their games (on top of polishing the frick out of the gameplay aspect).
western devs are atheists and also don't have patience for fine tuning the controls, as long as it moves it's good enough.
Just sounds like subjective opinion. The controls in Zelda are in service of nothing. Hell, the entire combat system is. You literally can't die in OOT, even on 3 hearts.
post-gta4 rockstar specifically seems keen on fricking up turning controls just to show off their weird limb ragdoll physics system that is in no way realistic or has any point at all
I didn’t enjoy it when it came out.
I don’t enjoy it now.
Obviously you are looking for a tough guy internet fight but reality is most people didn’t even own an N64 so it’s not a monumental event.
>most people didn’t even own an N64 so it’s not a monumental event.
Most people were illiterate when Hamlet came out.
That’s an interesting way of spelling Final Fantasy VII.
Based, but I never understood the rivalry between OOT and FF VII, is it because of console wars or people really see similarities between the two? One is a traditional turn based RPG while the other is an action-adventure game.
medievil borders on jank at times. it's a charming little game but it has a lot of nagging flaws and there isn't a whole lot to it. it's basically just gauntlet with a few zelda-esque puzzles thrown in. ocarina of time on the other hand, is one of the best games ever made.
i think medievil is a case of less is more, focuses on its own core gameplay and is very easy to just pick up. the platforming is pretty ass but thank frick you can just walk.
Generation split should've happened. GenI-IV and Gen V-VII
i'll never understand the almost lunatic buildup and reaction to this game

if you don't understand the appeal of this game you are legitimately stupid.
oot seems pretty popular with women
then you should like it

Is that the appeal? Being LESS of a game?

it's because you're stupid
You’re right bro the adult Link stuff is way less fun. I wish they didn’t have to put a gimmick into every 3D Zelda game.
I remember playing it as a kid, and I think I liked it, but it didn't really stick with me much over time. That's most Nintendo games for me though.

B.OOT AND A.OOT
Was playing red dead redemption 2 and then I played an older Zelda game
The crispness and input response is so much better from Jap land games
Why do American Devs like rockstar make shit input lag
Rdr 2 is the most beautiful game I have ever seen and Arthur moves like prince of Persia
Tldr games played better in the past.

know what's "jank"? cycling through four slow as molasses menu screens to change your fricking boots. gb2reddit
