This lmao.
I hate nu-pokemon and would never even consider playing palword. they arent the same fricking games lol. they are completely different genres.
they aren't completely different, there's a decent amount of overlap between palworld and PLA/SV. the parts that overlap put GF to shame. palworld changed my opinion on those games, which I happened to like. GFs laziness is simply on full display now.
It does a few things I wish pokemon did, like letting you be a bit more interactive with the creatures, having the creatures feeling a bit more interactive with the world before you obtain them, etc. but yeah it's the same case for me, I'm not going to play a survival game because I'm disappointed with games like SwSh or SV, I'm gonna go play another RPG like Xenoblade or Dragon Quest.
It's also great to see a new game like Palworld be successful, but it's not for me.
I think 80% of Palworld's base is people who haven't played Pokemon since Gen 3. I refuse to believe people think just dumbing down combat and stealing everything from Ark is the "evolution" of the Pokemon formula...
unironically if this game didn't have multiplayer it would've died 3 days in.
Also I think we as a community need to accept that if anyone makes a pokemon-like game with turn based combat....none of the casuals are gonna play it. They're brains can only handle Minecraft and Fortnite (can't even handle a Skyblock)
Is it inteligence that makes pokemon fans mash A button for hours and hours? There are some turn based games that make you think about your next move but pokemon is just mindless slop
Palworld has less dumbed down combat than Pokemon because it requires at least a degree of mechanical skill instead of mashing A in menus like a moron the whole game.
ah yes holding down the fire button and dodging
mega strats. As someone who plays FPS games it's not difficult unless you're fighting an unpredictable IRL player or if the game literally makes you die in 3 hits...like I get may prefer FPS games but its brainless slop just like hitting A in normal pokemon
> ah yes holding down the fire button and dodging
Yes. This by itself unironically requires more skill than the braindead dogshit pokemon games where all you do is just click the super effective button with your starter the whole game.
It also has some resource management and animal care in it. You even have to negotiate with them and keep them happy. It's still easy but that's like complaining that farming in stardew valley is easy.
This is the kind of viewpoint that makes pokemon such a shitty fandom. Always arguing about what is the truest pokemon. All the genwars, all the pointless shitflinging at every spin off, all the cherrypicking and youtube essays.
It doesn't have to be the "evolution" of the pokemon formula it's just a game that let's you tame monsters it's fun and much more interesting and polished than the latter pokemon games because it doesn't need to be anything but a fun game.
The original Pokemon was a RPG that let you catch monster with a pretty shitty combat system and some good ideas. It's natural evolution should have been a dignified death after one or two sequels max. Failing that a reboot that gave the developers the freedom to make a fun game based on the ideas of the original. The notion of an evolution of the pokemon formula is pretty silly.
The Pokemon formula isn't evolving. It doesn't have many places to go and the developers don't seem very motivated to explore new aspects of it and if they were to try the fans would just hate it and demand the same thing again.
It's a fun game because mashing together monster collecting with open world crafting survival is fun and nobody's done it this polished yet. Not to say this game's free of jank or anything but as a product it's much further along than anything even remotely similar and shows a lot of promise. If the monsters themselves didn't look so blatantly ripped off of Pokemon designs then quite literally none of this would be a problem. Only the most braindead of fanboys would be mad that another popular game exists in the same space.
not gonna lie, palworld is nuts compared to pokemon. The monsters being out doing shit and generally having a purpose beyond being spreadsheets is just cool
nu pokemon sucks. but the reality is a lot of palworlds playerbase are non-pokemon users. they all play the open world shit games and couldn't give a shit about nu-pokemon games or pokemon in general aside "i know what a pikachu is". its pokemon on a non-nintendo hardware, but open world and decent for 30 bucks.
>chillet just doing a drive by hit and run
Based. Yes, pokemon needs to wipe turn base from the open world component, people want random moments and cute/funny interactions with mons that isn't just scrubbing them with a sponge or feeding them puffins.
I've been holding strong and not buying it, but I'm strongly considering caving in and playing Pal World just because I want to put my money towards a big middle finger to Game Freak. Make good games you goddamned losers.
how? nu-Pokemon is slowly adding the elements those morons want from the "idea of Pokemon" they got from the shitnime. People who hate nu-Pokemon would hate shit like Palworld even more.
>I think [DERANGED SCHIZO TALK] [AUTISTIC DELUSIONS AND HALLUCINATIONS] [HEADCANON]
This lmao.
I hate nu-pokemon and would never even consider playing palword. they arent the same fricking games lol. they are completely different genres.
tbf I haven't seen one troony npc in palworld yet so it's already superior.
>my opinion on this matter is determined by the culture war.
Jesus.
Depressing to see.

you're right, except...
why does this board use headcanon like this? makes no sense
I was surprised at how much more I like the pal designs over nu-pokemon
I haven't played palworld or anything past gen 7 though
>I was surprised at how much more I like the pal designs over nu-pokemon
Then you're a blind moron as Pal design are peak nu-pokemon
the paldeck completely btfos any individual generation of pokemon design-wise, old or new. I'm ashamed of GF.
In other word the same kind of morons who think plass is a good game
Palworld doesn’t appeal well to DStards who think walking through hallways and using repels is peak gameplay so I doubt it.
actually and factually correct
I think Palworld's playerbase just loves having fun with their Pals. The game has soul.
so, normal people?
I think 80% of Palworld's base is people who haven't played Pokemon since Gen 3. I refuse to believe people think just dumbing down combat and stealing everything from Ark is the "evolution" of the Pokemon formula...
THIS
people who haven't played Pokemon since Gen 3 and zoomers
unironically if this game didn't have multiplayer it would've died 3 days in.
Also I think we as a community need to accept that if anyone makes a pokemon-like game with turn based combat....none of the casuals are gonna play it. They're brains can only handle Minecraft and Fortnite (can't even handle a Skyblock)
>ignoring the fact that a turnbased RPG was a massive best seller and a huge hit with casuals last year
There's actual strategy involved with Baldur's Gate. Pokemon has next to no strategy unless you get into the competitive scene.
Is it inteligence that makes pokemon fans mash A button for hours and hours? There are some turn based games that make you think about your next move but pokemon is just mindless slop

>the super effective button
do the new game really have that?
Sword and Shield added move effectiveness indicators, yes.
Play the fricking games if you don't want to sound like an ass. It was Gen 7 that added move effectiveness indicators.
It also has some resource management and animal care in it. You even have to negotiate with them and keep them happy. It's still easy but that's like complaining that farming in stardew valley is easy.

Palworld looks the same as nu-pokemon to me
It's a fun game because mashing together monster collecting with open world crafting survival is fun and nobody's done it this polished yet. More like all palworlds haters are people who love the nu-pokemon
Good, NuPokemon is ass

would never play that dogshit and I hate every single switch pokemon game
I've been holding strong and not buying it, but I'm strongly considering caving in and playing Pal World just because I want to put my money towards a big middle finger to Game Freak. Make good games you goddamned losers.
It's not even the same genre though
