I stared playing it yesterday and it's a really fun game. I'm a 2D Fallout fan so I hate everything about newer games besides the gameplay. Yeah, the gameplay and the female robot companion are too good to not play this game. It's FUN!
Wasted potential, easily the most satisfying gameplay loop of any Bethesda title with most of the combat jankiness of FO3 and NV removed, only to be completely wasted on the most nonsensical and half baked story Bethesda has ever come up with (maybe starfield beats it in that regard now, but I don't know I never played it). Not to mention there's a grand total of 2 "real" settlements while the rest are a shack in the middle of nowhere the game expects you to build yourself. If the porn mods are all that attracts you do yourself a favor and play actual porn games instead.
I hate most non Power Armor armors in this game but I also dont want to spend every second in it, so I almost always go Railroad just for Deliverer, Upgraded Hunting Rifle and Shadowed Leather.

You could also reverse it and use the BOS to turn all the settlements in to vassals or farms with robots doing everything. It hilarious to see all those homosexuals like Preston and Marcy seething as slaves.

The Institute considers the Commonwealth their field for experimentation, they are only concerned about their projects and their own people, I genuinely find funny Father considers the Brotherhood of Steel their only real threat, the other factions are a literal joke for him. For example Father was always aware of the actions of the Railroad and because the war with the BoS is about to happen he orders The Sole Survivor to destroy them, in a similar way The Brotherhood ask you to destroy the Railroad because they can be a future nuance for their operations and before you even arrive a small patrol already destroyed most of the railroad.

People praise F4 for combat, but this is probably because Fallout 3/Vegas combat was outright awful and horrendous. You shoot guns, enemies run in straight line at you. You still spend most of time fighting humans, green humans, tin-can humans. Monsters still just beeline straight to you, except now most of them can also burrow to become invincible and invincible because it's fun to sit and wait until you can actually fight them again. Best and most unique thing you can do is using junk jet, EXCEPT you don't want to throw that precious junk away now, plus I imagine it's damage is pitiful. >building mechanics

There are no mods that return sense of growth (at best mods nerf the shit out of you so that you get slammed even harder by HP bloat of end game), no mods that make combat fun (no new creatures, at best you get mods that make enemies stronger by allowing them to use chems, except it's basically cheats because said chems can't be looted off bodies afterwards), and no mods to make building mechanics tolerable (no one touched interface of settlement builder, your best option is to have precise control over rotation of objects which is still very much not enough).
There are however tons of modern guns, so you can shoot same raiders with every modern and not so firearm. There are tons of outfits that don't fit game at all (I'm not a hater of bikini armors, but come the frick on, I don't want yoga pants or bdsm gear, I want horny and stylistically fitting outfits).
There is also a bunch of sex mods most of which depend on outdated shit that will conflict with everything, so if you want to have sexmods, your selection of actual mods is even slimmer.

you should look into getting some overdrive, it gives you a bonus 25% critical hit chance for the duration, and that chance also extends to outside of VATS.
