I unironically believe Resident Evil remake 2002 is the scariest game in the franchise.
>limited times you can save
>unpredictable enemy encounters
>limited resources
>tanky controls
>maze-like funhouse mansion gives a constant foreboding feeling of something bad happening behind the scenes
>crimson heads
>dogs

Will they remake the remake?
It's bound to happen eventually, won't happen in the near future
It’ll be remade a la VR from the ground up, remember this.
Eventually. Still too recent for a full remake.
But, it's been nearly...
>still too recent for a full remake
>6 years between re1 and it's remake
>21 years between Re1 remake and now
Retard
it's been 9 years since the HD remaster, which sold well enough that work on RE2make began the following year
that's a port you absolute idiot, resident evil 4 got ported to every console imaginable and is still getting a remake
it wasn't a port. it was an HD remaster.
the game was only on gamecube friend, and gamecube is not HD.
We really need to decide what those words mean.
Port: A game being playable on a console besides its original one. Nowadays not really done as much, most games release on all major consoles.
Remaster: Falls under ports, a port that has been cleaned up in some way, nowadays most ports are remasters in some way.
Remake: Remaking the game with all new graphics, even if plays largely the same. Sometimes it does (SOTC Remake [Dont play it it sucks) sometimes it is different from the original(Resident Evil Remake[Play it, it's masterpiece]).
I don't agree and I won't tell you why.
everyone already knows and agrees on all that though. that guy was just angry despite being wrong. also like I said in my original post, for some reason people have forgotten that REmake was gamecube (and I guess wii) exclusive for a very long time.
"We" already did that decades ago.
REmake os the first proper REMAKE.
Then we got REMASTERS like SotC & Ico HD.
Last we hot ENHANCED PORTS, suxh as MGS3D.
technological advancement was greater in those 6 years than those 21 years.
people forget the 1st step on the capcom/resident evil redemption train was to remaster REmake and 0
RE1 GC remake was 2002, RE4 was 2005 and that's getting a remake.
Would be worthless. If they were to remake REmake, I'd want it to be multiplayer. The game is so short and the mansion so small that it would be a fun game for everyone to simultaneously run around the mansion.
Yup. We're only 3 years away from the 30th anniversary of the franchise. We're either getting RE-REmake or RE9.
>remaking a perfect game
Well yes, they are remaking RE4.
do you guys have sex?
Please no.
It's the only game in the series with a genuine horror atmosphere and aesthetic. The rest of the games are just modeled after gory action movies. They tried again with 7, but it just came off as edgy and forced.
this game is so fucking bad lol why y'all keep acting like its a good game ?
first you have no ammo and there is 100 zombies at every corridor they respawn you have 4 slot in your fucking inventory you just spend your time running to your box you need cant kill zombies because you have no ammo you need to run past them over and over .
its time to stop get your own taste stop acting like this game is good i played resident evils games last year so im not biased and this is by far the worst!
(you)
Yes. It's a survival horror game. Having to tactically decide which ones to take out is part of the strategy.
It's so boring if you play these on Easy and kill everything. Just an empty house. What's the point of that?
you can literally kill everything in the game even on hard. I have no idea what you guys are smoking when you say you have to manage ammo
>y'all
This is the point where I stopped reading completely.
It's ONLY good with tanky clunky controls. The second you CHEAT with the animationless joystick movement, the game is cheesed beyond belief. You have not danger of getting bit or hit by any zombie.
It's the only time ammo actually felt scarce in the fixed camera games. Even OG RE1 gives you way more to work with.
You're more or less required to learn bobbing and weaving through the zombies in this and the game gives incentive through moving faster without a weapon.
ammo is scarce in like all the classic re game for like the first 10 minutes, then they dump shitloads on you.
>RE1
Ammo is moderately scarce until the spider cabin but zombies and dogs are predictable and can be easily killed with the knife anyways. After the spider cabin the game becomes a run n' gun shooter.
>RE2
the game doesn't even pretend to be survival horror, this is an action game where you basically have infinite ammo, you can easily kill every enemy in every room and still have oodles of spare bullets leftover. On Arrange Mode maybe a bit less but still more than enough for you to need to think about it.
>RE3
Actually more limited than 2, ammo becomes ESPECIALLY tight if you want to kill Nemesis to get the bonus items in each encounter. Well balanced.
>Code Veronica
The knife is god tier so once you learn to use it, the ammo stops being as tight as it otherwise would be. The Bandersnatch segment is a huge difficulty spike and you can definitely run out of supplies there. That said this game is terrible and shouldn't be played by anyone.
>REmake
the tightest economy in the series, the opening mansion segment is absolutely brutal, the zombies and dogs are upgraded to be some of the strongest and most dangerous enemies and the pistol is nearly worthless. The game gets slightly less difficult when you get the grenade launcher or combat shotgun but it's still rough going.
>RE0
Second tightest economy, the fact that you have to worry about a retard AI character using supplies and have the new realistic inventory system of leaving shit on the ground hurts, along with strong enemies like the leech men.
>RE7
the ideal balance, the opening segment is tough, without conservation you run out fast. The block feature at least lets you get a lot of mileage from your herbs.
>RE2 Remake
Very balanced and was clearly rigorously playtested, combat always feels like the worst option compared to running past enemies, I think the most ammo I've had leftover past the first Birkin fight is like 20 handgun bullets.
I think you're misremember how much ammo you get in REmake or you missed some. unless you kill all the zombies that burst in through the window or every single hunter in the mansion or something you get plenty.
dogs take 4 shots? I think, zombie take about 10, but you can crit. There's enough fuel to burn every zombie in the game even on hard. There's like over 200 pistol bullets in the game, it's insane how easily you can kill and burn everything.
>RE0
I found that the hardest game in the series
How the fuck were you supposed deal with the monkeys
I agree, toughest of the mainline games
>RE3
>Actually more limited than 2, ammo becomes ESPECIALLY tight if you want to kill Nemesis
I was almost softlocked at the clock tower fight because of that
I actually dislike REmake because there's too little ammo and supplies. A more well balanced survival horror game like The Evil Within or Resident Evil 7 makes you FEEL like you're always about to run out or even keeps you constantly teetering on the edge of actually running out, REmake just becomes tedious and actively unenjoyable to play.
are you missing the assault shotgun or something? even on hard there's like 18 magnum bullets and like 50 shotgun shells. it's fucking plenty.
I saw some guy do a knife run of Zero, is it fun?
"RE:Zero....was a mistake" - Shinji Mikami
I liked Zero when it came out, but I was a kid and possibly retarded. Dunno about a knife only run though, that sounds way too autistic for my tastes.
Same, I played Zero the day it came out and loved it, but I was a kid and my tastes were highly questionable.
I only really liked the train section. As soon as you hit the castle, I just lost all interest.
All I remember is the train, I do remember not particularly enjoying what came after but it's fairly short, isn't it? Going off of 20 year old memories at this point.
it's funny all anyone talks about is the train, and it's like a 20 minute long section even on a blind playthrough.
I thought the train was the majority of the game, isn't it?
no I just started re0 for the first time waiting for re4 and all I 've heard for years was about this fucking train. I think it took me 30 minutes and that's because I died once because I didn't see the fucking key card I needed to take to turn on the brakes
it's been repeated thousands of times across the internet, but it's completely true: "The train segment is the only good part of 0"
>the bing bah wahoo game franchise is easily the scariest survival horror
>I use my extra bullets to collect wahoo coins
>Roundhouse kicking enemy into a bunch of jank ass animated enemies is so much fun
>Such challenging puzzles (fetching items)
>Completely original game (alone in the dark)
>QTE boulder run
When will you personality disordered freaks realize that you don't actually like this game. It's like liking loot creates. You only like it since you have to collect stuff to feel whole as a person
I forgot the pic
Can you stop trying to project your depression and mental disorders onto others, please?
I'm not the one who uses resevil as duplication for zombie games. You dweebs eat shit
The crimson head startled the shit out of me when I first encountered one. What makes them so fucking unnerving is the fast run speed that you can hear across the room, but the camera angle is blocking your vision of him. Really cool design that I'm still remembering even when I haven't played the game in a while.
That fucking roar they do
does resident evil have a canon? Don't 8 and 0 both recontextualize the mansion? do they work together? 0 and 1 make no sense if you play them back to back because Rebecca should waltz into the mansion decked out with guns but instead can fucking die to a single hunter.
is 6 canon? it seems insane that it could be, you go to China, Russia and Europe and like 3 entire cities in each country are destroyed, and a US city if include racoon city. That would forever alter the world.
>does resident evil have a canon
the "plot" in resident evil is so fucking retarded and nonsensical at this point that you may as well just headcanon it. personally i disregard anything after the first three.
>scariest game in the franchise.
I would dare to say that the original Resident Evil 3 was scarier than this one.
I wonder how and why the franchise went to shit this way, considering that the first games had a very simple premise that worked. In my opinion, it had to do with the fact that the fucking movies became really popular being shitty action flicks, and Capcom went turbo-retard mode to make the games even more stupid just to bring in an action fanbase, but I don't know if that's why, or if it was because the directors hired after Code Veronica and such were not that good, and they wanted to make different games but needed a well-known IP for them to be profitable. Like they wanted to make a game about a supervillain that fought the brave heroes in an action trip where love finds a way!, and they were forced to use the RE IP and resorted to give Wesker superpowers by saying that the virus gave him super human abilities, and so on.
It could also be that retards loved RE4 (which is a shitty game) and they wanted to keep replicating that.
the games went action because REmake was a flop. not even kidding look it up.
after REmake flopped Mikami started work on re4
REmake flopped? I remember it being beloved on release...was it just because it was on GameCube and that was more for "kiddy" games?
gamecube was also a flop console.
>“The Resident Evil remake is actually one of my favorites of the series too,” Shinji stated. “But it didn’t sell very well. Maybe there weren’t many people ready to accept that. Because of the reaction to the Resident Evil remake, I decided to work more action into Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 4 would have been a more scary, horror-focused game if the remake had sold well.”
>As for the GameCube remake, it went on to sell over 1.35 million copies. Had Capcom ported the game to other consoles perhaps things would have gone differently. The GameCube version of Resident Evil 4 sold 1.6 million units,
although it's only a difference of 300k sales, re4 sold like hotcakes. every copy shipped to the US and europe was sold out within a month of release. My guess is although re1 eventually got close to just the GC numbers it took significantly longer to reach there.
The numbers are all from some 2007 Capcom conference.
I'm really glad they made RE4. I'm really sad that became the entire franchise for so long.
I've always wished they put a damn subtitle and split the series. The action games could even be the numbered ones and the scary ones could have the subtitle.
I don't think it did. Everyone just wanted to copy CoD.
I don't think it flopped on it's own merits, it flopped because it was on the gamecube. If capcom had ported it to ps2, everything would be different.
I wouldn't say the films had an impact, just because Japan at the time ignored the west pretty heavily.
Saw created an incredibly convoluted and ridiculous plot in just 7 films. The Resident Evil series has enough content to make at least 3 times the films, and is just as retarded.
I don't think this is a controversial idea, what also sucks is there was never anything like it ever again.
Door animations are gay and there is no way in this world that (You) can convince me otherwise.
IMO door animations should happen the first time you enter the room and if anything about the room has changed (new enemies, new puzzle elements etc)
they really do build suspense and you can do something cool with them like re2 with the door opening to zombies
Whatever game you play first is the scariest
yes
RE1 Remake > RE7 > REV 2
as far as scares yeah
I want another game that takes place during the Raccoon City Incident
scariest would be re2make for mr. x alone
