I unironically think that modded Skyrim (using basic graphic mods mind you) still holds up graphically in current year. I can still see myself playing this in 10 years. Gaming graphics hasn't really wowed me in forever tbh.

>I unironically think
Nobody cares.
Those ground textures to the right look terrible. Why does it look like sand? Where is the grass?
the lighting is absolute garbage by today's standards.
With some enb and various lighting mods like Climates of Tamriel it looks pretty decent imo. Especially when you compare it to modern Ubisoft Assassin's Creed games. The fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is still probably the hallmark of "next gen" graphics and game still has playdough looking models at certain intervals on top of being a 3 year old game at this point, I am honestly not that too picky on graphics anymore. After all BG3, this years GOTY wasnt that impressive graphics wise either.
Currently Skyrim's biggest issue for me is the really dated animations, especially when you compare the foliage with FO4 or Witcher 3. The trees practically just static models.
>The trees practically just static models.
Not anymore.
>imo
Nobody cares.
Raytraced lightning is garbage anon, nothing beats a well placed lightmap and Dynamic lights
it was horrible back then. Skyrim was a dog shit game without mods. On the other hand, I had 100s of hours with unmodded oblivion and Morrowind. they were far superior games.
It can look fantastic for sure. But i would disagree on the basic mods. You need to mod it heavily to look it fantastic.
Is that Whiterun? Frick.
It reeks of clutteshit aka Kill my FPS even on a 4080: JK skyrim
Yeach i regret installing that shit. I will remove it on new save and replace it with something else.
>DUDE,TREES,LMAO
The curse of skyrim modding, thousands of people with time and talent, and none with taste.
>Northern Roads
>Parallax textures
There is a conflict in your screenshot
I should not use it together? Thanks.
Northern Roads is the king of conflicts. It shits itself with almost every exterior mod known to mankind.
If you are playing with only NR and nothing else it looks great. But it's too difficult to make it work with other mods.
i started playing Skyrim SE recently, its fun but ive had a b***h of a time getting dodge mods ro work. Finally got TK Dodge kind of working, but allt of the better ones seem to have conflict with FNIS
>but allt of the better ones seem to have conflict with FNIS
you need to use nemesis. Lots of dodge mods have behavior records that conflict with those of other mods. Nemesis is designed to patch these to work together. FNIS is not, it's zerosum. One behavior record from one mod wins out and all the others break.
i have nemesis, but its not detecting the majority of my mods, i probably have it in the wrong place or something i was happy with Vortex just doing most the installing and load order for me
If you're using it through MO2, you have to run it through MO2 as well so it can detect the mods in the vfs
if you use Vortex or MO2 you have to run Nemesis through Vortex or MO2 since those use a virtual filesystem, it's not gonna detect your installed files unless the VFS is mounted and the program is run in that enviroment
It looks ok in screenshots but it all falls apart when you start moving and swinging your sword.
Art direction is everything. Despite conforming to post 2008 brown/grey Western standards, Skyrim has solid art direction.
Whats the best mod for my wife Muiri
yeah it's pretty nice
>modded Skyrim
I can't think of a single thing in the gfx pipeline that hasn't been modded yet, so that's no surprise. Textures are standard fare but even all animations, models and the entire lighting system can be replaced.
Skyrim is not a good game, man. It is a game designed specifically for the lowest common denominator.
Skyrim is slop garbage with no redeeming qualities other than "oh my god muh hentai coomer mods".
Also helps that skyrim is a very comfy game despite its flaws
ENB, weather mod, some new textures and DyndoLod and Skyrim looks fantastic. I probably couldn't play vanilla anymore these days though.
Years ago when I last was modding Skyrim I was so disgusted by how mods that added new structures or objects didn't have any fricking LODs, they would just pop into existence when you got close enough and then pop out of existence when too far. I think I tried Dynolod but I must have fricked up the install.
bethesda game modding is fricking moronic anyway. i refuse to deal with anything that isn’t a curated modpack that’s managed by a bunch of people more autistic than me. FRICK dealing with mods you need to troubleshoot, i wanna play my modded porn and goblin killing power fantasy game ffs
you are unironically braindead
Can look nice even without an ENB.
Suggest me aome really nice environment/vegetation mods.
For me it's Skoglendi. The only mod where I like all of it's grass. With every other mods there is one part I really dislike about it. Also has the best green tundra if you're into that.
I would agree if you didn't play as a female character you fricking troony
It looks good until you actually start playing it.
but you're still playing skyrim which is boring as shit?
No that looks terrible anon
Yeah it looks good enough when you mod it, but it's held back by awful rendering distance so the grass pops up in the distance quite noticably even if you have a perfect lod set-up. it just doesn't extend far enough away at the engine leel so you'll always have patches of no grass in the distance. Just look at OP's image (although it can be modded to be better than that at least)
There is the fact that landscape fever died and no one is working on parallax patches even for vanilla anymore
And even when doodle introduces the PBR patch later next year once testing is over, there wont be a dedicated autist to do so because "Clothing mods are easier to get money"
Just use dyndolod to create a grass lod at extreme performance cost bro.
No, when i say modded i obviously include dyndolod. It makes a world of difference and it's a godsend and fantastic piece of work, but there's still a limit to how much it can do. Stand on a mountain/high place and look down on the world and it will still look jarringly nbad even with the best lod's. And skyrim is a place where such a view happens a lot
>inb4 you've just installed it wrong
well anon we can only do so much with skyrim,is a game from 2011 after all, meaby if one day they hack bethesday and dump the code online we will be able to do something.
Yeah my point is just that it's unfortunate we have these limitations, and it's the biggest issue with making it still hold up as modern looking game to me. But of course it's still amazing just how much better modders have managed to make it anyway
I want to play Skyrim again but I've already tried most of the perk overhaul mods
>1080p
>no shadows
>graphics haven't moved on
neither has your pc.
>no shadows
>on an overcast day
when's the last time you left the house and went outside?
Turns out a lot of people on Ganker are on potato PC.That's why they have no clue about what happens in new releases apart from memes and keep praising the old games their pc can handle.
People still on W7 when there's less users than linux with it on the Steam survey.
It was raining if you couldnt see the wetness effect on the character model.
It's great, until it crashes. If not for the crashing I would support it much more, but on every platform, modded or not, it fails.
-
Despite that major flaw, I still play too.
What mods fix the terrible and inane writing
None, and that's the real problem
You can mod graphics, sounds and combat all you want but you can't fix bad story pacing, contrived writing and weak character dialogue.
time to see an optometrist anon
You think you're hot shit don't ya
Did anyone run into the problem (on laptop) where Skyrim runs on integrated gpu instead of the real gpu?
Nvidia control panel?
I've had the issue on other games like Just Cause 2 and the Nvidia Control Panel didn't work.
it holds up exactly for 5 minutes until you enter riverwood and find 6 npcs with the exact same voice and 2 lines of dialog each, neither of which are interesting.
And then it becomes obvious how shit the game is.
Its absolutely insane to me that anyone played this fricking trash a year after it's released let alone a decade. How brain damaged do you have to be to crawl the same shitty cookie cutter dungeon over and over again for 10 goddam years
Sorry your soul receptors are fried man.
>Gaming graphics hasn't really wowed me in forever tbh
There's only so much that could be done once we hit 3D. Yeah there's higher resolutions and improved lighting, but there aren't many ways you can do much more than that. There's also the fact so many developers use the same game engines, and making your own isn't quite what it used to be. It's nothing like the 90's and early 00's where so much technological development was happening all at once across the industry, that can never happen again.
>skyrim BAD!
being contrarian is not a substitute for having a personality
skyrim was proven to be objectively bad on this board 12 years ago. before joot took our doubles away we were able to enforce taste here. now Ganker has no identity, it's an aggregate for every other shit website with garbage taste out there. skyrim is a bad game, no amount of time will ever pass when it becomes a good game. mods cannot fix it
>before joot took our doubles away
The rest of Ganker doesn't even check dubs anymore anyway. This whole shithole is a shadow of its former self and I'm still here forever.
You weren't here 12 years ago newbie.
TES at Ganker was religion even during oblivion which had some people here tracking where a giant troll homosexual shitting oblivion and morrowind mods lived to rape his ass.
None of you newbies have no idea of the shitton of oblivion mod threads Ganker had to a point when skyrim came out, moot created /vg/ to contain it.
/vg/ exists thanks to that.
vg exists because of Katawa shoujon and league of legends shitting up the Ganker catalog back then, newbie
>Lolgay and mutilation gay wanting to rewrite history
Every single time
not an argument, moron
ok
The problem I have is that at the end of the day, no matter how good you make Skyrim look, at the end of the day it's still Skyrim, the roleplaying aspect is still mediocre, the questing is still mediocre, the exploration is still mediocre and the gameplay is still mediocre.
>b-but muh combat/skills/quest overhaul mod
Doesn't matter. It's a bunch of different individuals with varying opinions on how something should be made clashing different design philosophies together. It's not coherent like an actually well-made game. That doesn't mean that the mods themselves aren't impressive, because in a lot of cases they are, but there's only so much you can do to fix a game.
oh errr one more thing…
How many people do I have waiting for my Wildlyfe grass mod?
yeah it could but you have to modded to oblivion
Realistically, how can the draw distance issue be solved?
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32382
Disagree, the modding required to make it look decent takes forever to implement. The mod packs are all trash. I like Skyrim but it doesn't hold up to modern standards.
elfx or lux
lux, way more compatibility patches
Have some screenshots without ENB
Looks like rdr2, nice. I like that its not too flashy and gitchy
Thanks man. I feel like a lot of modders tend to go too over the top with the saturation and enb effects
Here's an NPC in an interior
Looks very based as long as you're an OLED chad
I play on a 27" IPS monitor so no OLED for me
Yeah now post some interiors without enb 😉 CS interiors look like dogshit
>guys literally live in apartments like this and don't see any issues
No opinion on the mods but you write like a stupid gay
What mod(s)?
The mods to get that general look is Fabled forests, Skoglendi, community shaders, a modified version of the veyrah reshade and northern roads
>community shaders
>reshade
hello skyrim
What's the deal with "community shaders"?
Is it a cope for people who aren't able to use ENB and or needs to use DLSS?
Or is it actually good?
I use cs over enb because i average higher fps
So it's mostly if you can't hit constant 60 with ENB?
for me at least, my game doesnt look half bad either
its a win-win for me
I tried to play Skyrim a week ago, but the combat felt incredibly lacklustre after being spoiled by better games. Are the combat mods worth installing? Do they feel "canon"?
>Are the combat mods worth installing?
the dark souls combat mods are incredibly impressive for what they are, and generally present with a decent level of polish and consistency that you wouldn't really expect from a fan mod. It's not on par with dark souls, it's obviously a little bit more janky, but it's not the total jankfest you're probably expecting.
There's also some guy working on a really promising KCD combat mod if you have dark souls derangement syndrome.
You say that like mods still work after Todd's update
Works on my machine
modding skyrim is the closest you can get to polishing a turd without getting shit on your hands
I prefer Morrowind too, bro, but that's a little harsh.
