I recently got dogpiled on discord and left a server because the FC I was a part of kept giving me shit for disagreeing with them on a few occasions. They're into the whole ERP scene and I kept making fun of them for it, which I thought was fine since we've known each other for months now, but apparently I went to far and they got triggered.
Tell me, why is this community so sensitive? What gives?

It was just banter at first but then after someone posted their female miqo'te and asked how cute she looked I posted the OP image. This started an avalanche of shit which I just had to take a step back to take it all in.

I honestly think it’s because ff14 has a super high female player base compared to other games. Brings about a air of weirdness of people either trying to groom, beta orbiters, or just horny frickers which eventually implodes due to some “drama”.

To be fair It was my first time dealing with a girl in-game though. Now I know none of them are worth giving any attention. They have nothing but drama to contribute to a conversation or a group.
Maybe it's just me, but it feels like it's easier to treat women normally in XIV because there's so many of them. Sometimes you still run into princesses who're clearly used to everyone simping for them though, but it's not nearly as bad as in other MMOs I've played.

Unfortunately most women I've played this game have always brought their drama with them. The typical pattern is that they're shy but soon they open up and vent about their previous group that treated her horribly, but after a while you start to notice why that was and when she's not the center of attention for more than a minute she spergs out and jabs at the single men or starts calling them fat or ugly and such. After a while some of the morons get on her side because that's how easy women have it manipulating morons. At the end you have an imminent disaster and the calamity unfolds as her taking at least half the FC with her since the leader is an butthole and didn't give her the shit she wanted.
There were a few girls who were alright, but they were already in a relationship or married moms. It's the bawds that frick a different guy every week that should be gassed. They're a cycle of cringe and drama everywhere they go and it's absolutely draining when it happens to your little community.
Seen it happen multiple times. Always max crafting class and asks to get carried through dungeons to continue story.
I had a woman in my old group do the whole complain about previous group thing but then it turned out to be true and the guy she was b***hing about was a legit stalker who was obsessive about her and siced a twitter mob on her for "leading him on" or something and it disrupted our raid one night because they mass reported her or something and she got yoonked by a GM during TEA prog. Guy had a whole posse on his dick for his WAR parses since he made his group reset for any mistake of his until he got a good parse and when he subbed for us he was making simple mistakes positioning the boss constantly and dying to tankbusters or missing reprisal nonstop. He also only played WAR after the 4.2 gutting IIRC. In spite of that he somehow had some weird cult following. Was the weirdest shit that ever happened to one of my statics.
MMOs are notorious for having this kind of phenomenon. Some people who have absolutely no fricking personality get a following just because they're aggressively confident and amass submissive people who will agree with them on anything and everything because they're weak and insecure.
It's a real problem because this is not typical adult behavior. This shit is manchild-tier type of shit.
To be fair the woman was a bit of a c**t sometimes and he was specifically mad that she got "carried" through UWU (during ShB when UWU didn't matter anymore) because one of her friends group needed a healer sub for reclears or something and he somehow thought she bought the clear from a group that never sold clears because they didn't upload the parse. IDK what the guy's problem was but he eventually lost interest and moved on and then she quit the group anyway for scheduling or something. she was a semi-bad player when she joined us and held back our TEA prog but she got gud by the time we cleared and she was open about being a shitter.
This happened to me, so I realized I was part of the problem and just started to pretend to be a dude. These days there are so many weirdos who won't voice no one even thinks about it as abnormal.

To a lot of people who play XIV (especially to the point where they try to ERP), the main appeal of the game is to create an enviornment where they can feel loved, wanted, and attractive to a lot of people.
They often feel the need to do this because they cannot gain these emotional needs in real life.

In my experience the best way to play this game is to avoid any social interaction that isn't with people you meet during fishing or people you knew before playing the game
There are so many degenerates, overly sensitive people , attention prostitutes and other annoying people everywhere that I sometimes wish this game was singleplayer.
Finding a decent FC is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Finding a good one without a discord server that comes close to a more traditional guild experience something I have given up on entirely
XIV has got to be one of the loneliest MMOs out right now. Going back and doing the old content basically requires you to use discord since that's where majority of NA operates and organizes statics.
Once you're done rarely do people stick around, though.
The story is linear but super disconnected with the MMO experience. Outside of dungeons and trials it doesn't make you interact with any other player to finish it.
This has been said a million times but this game is a glorified chat room at the end of the day. Just do the expansion and frick off. Best way to play this shit. Not worth subbing year-round.

They actually didn't do anything at all. It's been said a few times in various places but it's actually extremely easy to stalk people in XIV because even when blocked you can always find out if people are online or what they are doing by just making new characters and searching the persons name which then allows you to send them a tell. GMs just told me to block the person and all the alt characters they kept making.

It's always awkward to me when ERPers mingle with normies and there's no filter between the two. Normies don't want to see degenerate shit and degenerates don't want to hear normies vent about work or taxes. I'm an ERP degen and I keep that shit away from the FC.
That said I don't ERP in XIV. It's full of attention starved people who get extremely attached. I've met multiple people who get extremely upset if you RP with someone else or even boot up a different game with someone other than them. I used to get tells from people checking out where I was and asking me what I was up to, it was creepy as shit. Nowadays I have a small circle of in-game friends and stick by them.
On one hand the freaks aren't boring, but they are repulsive most of the time.
On the other, hanging out with normies can mean no contact for weeks on end and not really playing the game as a group as often as you'd like.
If I had some IRL friends who were into this shitstain of an MMO maybe that'd be different, but I find it sad how there's not really any middle-ground.

The leader and her BF were both good players, it was mainly one of the tanks I think and the Australian bard that were the problem players in that group. I think maybe they worried I was going to leave for a better group or something since I had gold parses and they were all blue or high purple most of the time.

If you mean 6.1 and 6.1.5 you can do most content in less than a day, the only content that needs more are the beast tribes to get the mount, the ultimate and the crafting delivery quests

I have been doing Frontline roulette every day for about a month now, and whether I win or lose, I usually get enough Wolf Marks to get... 3? Maybe 4 pieces of armor every week, some of them vary in price.
It's not fast but I find it a relatively painless way to go about since I don't particularly enjoy PvP. I don't hate it but I would certainly not queue if I didn't get the rewards.
Eh, I can at least get the Knight gear centered around the physical classes. Shame they never brought in the actual Axe knight for Warrior.
Does it take long for you to get the mounts?
Not that long, depending on how much you play. Besides CC, you can get Wolf Marks from Frontlines too, and it's a good way to level your jobs.
Also to speed things up, when you get PVP season rank ups, turn the Trophy Crystals into Collars that you can turn into more Wolf Marks.
Like the other anon said you can do it pretty casually too, I doubt the sets are going to go away any time soon.

I know what you mean. Personal relationships that involve actually meeting and interacting with people is what humans are built for. We're social creatures. The online space in essence creates an easy way to get that without any of the risk. If you don't like someone you can just block them or have your posse gang up on them. In real life there are consequences and with them the chance to grow and learn. It's completely different.
If anything this thread has made me realize what's really important. I gotta put this game down for a while and not try to let it replace my social headspace so much.

As someone who was drastically running out of things to do including S rank hunts and gold saucer achievements, the first week was a bit of a "what do i do with time now?" but you got this, focus on whats important to you and dont let any game replace or take that away from you. I made a friend I still talk to through fishing. Had pleasant talks and chats with people when fishing. Felt funny when the Endwalker trailers and showcases dropped that I felt most excited about the music and the fish, with the story only being the 3rd place.
Most FC's I've tried out were weird like
said. I've found the best way to find a decent one was to look for long-lived content you could do together. Joined a Linkshell for doing old content synced and on min ilvl no echo. That was a total blast and we still do content every now and then like when a new patch hits and we do the extreme blind together. Got through all of coils as a little sprout doing them synced like Yoshi-P intended. O8S was pretty funny on min ilvl too. Healers actually panicking because spamming GCD heals isn't enough when you don't also properly mitigate is a joy
Based fellow FSHchads. I ocassionally came across some attention/drama prostitutes at the crowded holes of rare fish like cinder surprise, but most people are very chill and don't force themselves on you.
It is nice to have people to talk to about the fishing journey, to share advice on difficult catches with and to have people wish you good luck

The titles and glowstick fishing rods are nice, but the activity itself is very comfy and it scratches the collection autist itch. I wish they added more varied rewards, like some mounts or glamour items though.
Fishing off the coast of kholusia at night for henodis grandis or steel razor, fishing in the churning mists for raimdellopterus or fishing in the hundred throes in dravania and just letting the soundtracks combined with the ambient sound of the waves, waterfalls or wind overtake me have made for some of the most memorable and enjoyable moments I have had in this game.
It is a shame I only have one fish left in my entire fishing log, so I am already thinking of starting all over again on an alt without rushing it this time.
Yeah there sometimes are those c**ts who take it too seriously and get butthurt when they are unlucky or see other people being lucky. I doubt most of those shitters ever get close to the title.

It's comfy. Always has been. Just kick back and shoot the shit or do whatever. I ended up doing squats, planking and pushups and read a bit between having set up and waiting for the window. Pleasant times.
During the time I played I got made co leader of the fc I was in for some reason by the new leader after the old one stepped down. Dude was probably the most autistic person I've ever spoken to and the definition of a buzzkill. He took the whole guild thing way too seriously. Also special mention to the window licker in chat one day who sat there and asked 200 questions about fricking eureka lockboxes.
I guess I must have been lucky in my choice of FC then, I've not really had any of the issues that are described in this thread and I've been playing the last 3 years.

from my 8 months journey, i'd say 70% of players never had "friends" or a "community" so it's really easy to make your own group of friends to do content with.
do you have experience in old extremes? i'd say you start those and gather a bunch of cool players so they can join you in the more recent extremes.
same answer as always, free trial that covers base game and first expansion (i personally got 600+ hours out of it before buying the game) is still available. rushing would be stupid since game offers a lot of old content (raids, boss fights) that are really fun. once you decide whether to buy game or not, you'll pay 39.99€/$ for endwalker + a free 30 days, then you'll have to pay sub.

You can play base and 1st expansion for free but some limitation regarding trade and chat iirc.
You can try any job up to that expansion on 1 character and get them to 60lvl.
That way you play the story without worrying for sub and if you end up liking it and want more, then you buy the other expansions and/or sub... Don't buy/sub right away

I wasn't in such luck since I didn't get Clemency there, so it was just potions. It was after the stat squish so they were quite effective actually, I keep using them to this day in pulls when I see that the healer is kind of shit not to die, hundreds of those pots that I got from POTD runs finally finding a use.

I never played any of those games (well I did start playing XI earlier this year but it doesn't give me the same enjoyment as XIV sadly) but I enjoy doing that kind of thing, it's fun.
Last weekend our FC took part in a costume contest and I entered and it was fun to see people's different entries.
Maybe it feels that way to you because you did enjoy those games and newer ones can't live up to them, but that won't be the same for everyone.
The issue with modern games nothing is worthwhile or has some real meaningfull stuff. I started Everquest last year for my first time (P99) and I'm blown aways. Besides the visuals the game is so much better than every modern mmorpg.

Nothing to speak of practicing it, working on the "parses," etc. I haven't even gotten to P3s yet because trying to form a group of randoms to clear Savage content when everyone and their mother has already cleared it, practiced it, gotten all the gear within the span of two weeks of the content releasing is just an exercise in tedium.

For apartments you get 1 mil instead of 500k if you transfer to a preferred world i think. Any furniture you don't store in your inventory or retainer storage goes poof though.

Everyone should have sprint on cooldown at all times out of combat. If you don't, then you're not doing it right. There is no reason not to move faster from one point to the other if you have the possibility to do such a thing.

Earlier this patch I've joined a Hydaelyn EX learning party and I've tried helping them clear, after 2 hours we made it to the chakrams once, both healers kept constantly dying and they didn't even learn the healer stacks so we marked other players and told healers to follow them, we had to constantly call out the elements and weapons and even then they kept eating vuln stacks.
Both healers had a couple of jobs at 90 so me and one other guy offered to switch to healer but immediately a DRK(another vuln stack collector) comes in their defense with the usual

Aether and Crystal are weird DCs bro.
Crystal specifically. Aether is much better by comparison because a lot of the high-end to hardcore players moved when they created the Crystal DC.

Pro tip for clearing some of the higher end content. This will definitely not work for Pandemonium, but for things like Hydaelyn's Call, you may have a shot.
1. If you don't have a DPS leveled to 90, get it to 90, homosexual. What are you doing at this stage of the game? Don't care if you want to clear it with a healer or a tank. Beggars can't be choosers. This is just for a clear
2. Learn the first/middle phase of the fight. Just those two phases Either watch a video, join a random PF and struggle for a bit and then bounce, Whatever. Make sure you know how to survive easily without a sweat. Doesn't matter if if you clear.
3.Join a PF for the instance in question that is running loot grind. Hopefully you find one that doesn't have "Duty Complete" has a requirement. They do occur because some dipshit always makes one without knowing how PF works so you can join it without the leader realizing it.
4. Don't say a fricking word when you join. Just say "hello" when you first join and that's it. If the leader asks if you know the fight, just affirm that you do. EVERY phase.
5. ????
6. Enjoy the clear and then bounce because the end phase is usually the easiest in a clinch because the vets will be able to clear with one or two DPS being dead on the floor.

As a player without house/apartment, does transferring into a new world have any downside? Sounds too good to be true.

It's a waste of your money because exp is not an issue in this game and you lose the exp boost past a certain level. With the data center visit upcoming, there's no point transferring anymore unless you have ping issues.

Do roulettes and run Shadowbringers dungeons for your level. Fate grind is awful for exp.

just run dungeons lmao, it's about 2 runs per level
don't forget to do role quests if that's your first class in the role

Trusts will always be slower. Unless you are DPS and have to wait 15+ minutes its not worth

Is completing Bozja's story even possible anymore? I doubt people are bothering with castrum, delubrum, or dalriada anymore.
delubrum is the problem, doing castrum and dalriada should still be possible
even with a dps's abysmal queue times it's still faster than trusts
It can be done, but its like pulling teeth to get people to run Castrum with you. I cleared it with 12 people though.
Castrum and Dalriada are definitely doable during prime time hours and on weekends. Delubrum is the problem, however you can put up a PF or better yet ask in your Data Center's Delubrum Savage discord if anyone can help you, usually people there are super nice and are willing to help you get a clear, you can do it with as few as 4 well geared people

I raid as a Subtlety rogue in wow. What class would I like? Samurai and BLM seem alright. I like a decently complicated rotation and doing lots of damage.
Try ninja. Highest cast per minute.
Dragoon or Ninja. Keep in mind all the complexity and fun of pretty much every dps rotation is back loaded, so you won't get the proper job experience until level 70.
