He had to come up with something. Imagine holding a global 8-month popularity content and literally crowning Min Min "The Ultimate Champion" only to have the round 1 loser join Smash simply because he's on the box.
SF also has a long legacy of being 35+ years old, with Ryu being the face, of course they'd choose him. Arms has one game with pretty much nothing established, so it's easy to choose whoever they want, so why not the most popular character.
At this point, Min Min is the Ryu equivalent of Arms. If they ever make a second game, she'll be front and center on the box.

There's another Min Min mod but with Chun-Li's SF Alpha costume, I can't decide which one I like more. I've been meaning to do a recolor of this if it ever gets publically released.
Most fighting game characters are one-note, this is nothing new, we're lucky new games of the genre dare to have more extensive story modes like SF6 with more lore about the characters, otherwise most of the character traits used to be told by little bits and pieces like winning quotes, endings and profiles.
The thing is, they released Splatoon 2 in the same year as Arms, effectively cannibalizing it, not only that Arms costed fricking $60 and that feels like robbery for such a game you play in short bursts.
I was just playing: >go Quickplay/Elite >all fine until I fight a laggy ass Sephiroth >then I fight a Ryu that only did two things, mash down tilt into tatsumaki and spam shakunetsu hadoken, he was also incredibly laggy >ok ill play arena >wait 10 mins for someone to join >get a kid playing kirby that has no idea on how to play that's also lagging like crazy >I stop playing and go eat dinner

Been playing since launch, had my main king dedede in elite since basically launch, here are my observations: >shit netcode >shit rule set swapping between games, this means that if you have flat stages with no items set and the other guy has stages with hazards on and items, every other game you play will be hazards and items. This is really fricking annoying because i feel like with the popularity of smash’s comp scene even casuals don’t want to play with gay stages and items. >the matchmaking is terrible, it will match you up with people wildly above your gsp if you are not already at least in elite. This is silly because once you get good enough it’s way harder to fall out of elite than it really is to get into it. More on that on the next point >elite is the easiest online max rank to get in any fighting game and it’s not even close, granted I’ve played more smash in my life than other FGs, but just on an experience/elo level it’s easier, albeit inconsistent. low gsp has really bad matchmaking, every 3rd or 4th game you get someone double your gsp, it gets easier though as matchmaking generally gets better as you get higher gsp because the vast majority of the players are kids who suck. Sometimes if you have a high roster gsp you can get really lucky and start a new character on ranked and get elite in a few games, when you start a character that is at roster gsp you have a multiplier for gsp lost or gained for like 3 games, I myself and my friends have experienced this several times. All of these factors make the experience really inconsistent on an elo level, but overall if you’re not a scrub it’s still not that hard to get a character in elite and keep it there, in fact it’s super easy to keep it there because after you get so high you can lose over and over and barely lose 10k gsp each time. Thats nothing when you have almost 13m.
Different strokes I guess, anytime I go over to someone’s house and they have smash they always have a rule set for 3 1v1 3 stock no items no matter how normie and casual they are. It’s weirder to see someone enjoy goofy stages and items that break up the combat these days imo but that just what I see.
Chaotic Smash stopped being fun after Melee IMO. The items and stage gimmicks got too over the top and the lack of tempo control, especially when you're already losing, is just obnoxious.
Yeah, as much dumb fun as that stuff can be, its appeal wanes after a while and naturally you just wanna feel like the actions you take matter or at least aren’t invalidated by a giant fish eating you when you fall in the water or 2 pokemon and an assist trophy gang-banging you when you’re already down by 2 stocks.

Yes. All clear as long as you don't use mods on some online games (like splatoon 2), don't cheat online, and don't pirate without making a separate partition of your system memory on your SD card. Even overclocks and performance mods won't get you banned.
I play it like a discord fighter now since I exclusively play on hewdrew remix. Mod is great and online is a lot better (when we can get it running on 2 delay)

I like fighting games for the improvement aspect, its very obvious how to progress. smash eludes me, the mentioned things together with all the small little complex interactions make my brain explode. Aside from getting matched with tryhard Wolfs, Jokers and Palutenas or camping Mii Gunners or Pits too regularly, it's been mostly ok.

how safe is playing online with cfw? all clear as long as you bought the game?
Yes. All clear as long as you don't use mods on some online games (like splatoon 2), don't cheat online, and don't pirate without making a separate partition of your system memory on your SD card. Even overclocks and performance mods won't get you banned.
I play it like a discord fighter now since I exclusively play on hewdrew remix. Mod is great and online is a lot better (when we can get it running on 2 delay)
lots of children like to use Bowser and Incineroar and spam side b like their life depends on it. Also Falco and fox tryhards are cringe

Sm4sh at least let you guarantee serious no items, Battlefield/Omega stages. It's shit to play with limitless air dodging, grab fishing and imbalanced pieces of shit like Bayo and Cloud everywhere, but at least you can guarantee a serious match.

I like fighting games for the improvement aspect, its very obvious how to progress. smash eludes me, the mentioned things together with all the small little complex interactions make my brain explode. I get motivated to try it again every couple of months but I'm reminded why I just stick to any other pvp game that doesn't actively discourage you from trying to play it.
Hero is fun and I like using him to btfo tryhards in elite smash. Currently have him at 14.2mil gsp

it's so fun going for Zoom when you're otherwise fricked.
Only problem i have with hero is the localized DQ spell names are honestly so hard to parse it's a disadvantage to speak english if you want to learn him. the original spell names are a lot more intuitive.
Pretty alright with the lag mod, now if only the troony devs would open Smash Pros up to the public so I didn't have to deal with wifi debauchery.
It’s basically how I learned how to play Smash. I even bought the HORI Ethernet adapter because I do not believe in playing online multiplayer with a wireless connection.

An anime/manga smash bros clone or straight up fighting game would be very cool, but keeping it shonen jump only would be boring because we've seen goku naruto and luffy interact so many times already, i want to see them interact with characters like guts or tohru or ryuko or whatever
