It's because the npcs leave after you interact with all of them.
They very dreamlike areas, and a lack of people makes them feel almost in a state of suspension.
>playing the original trilogy on an emulator >decide to go for the skill points on year of the dragon (didnt bother with ripto since I realized they were a thing halfway through the game) >get almost all of them in YotD quite easily >beat the yeti in 2 rounds of boxing >I got fricking filtered hard just getting the eggs from this homosexual, used save states and everything; im terrible at this >dread getting the point, save it for last and do everything else first >its time >oh frick you have to start over and get the first egg >fight begins; hes just standing there powered down like a b1 droid in star wars phantom menance >o..ok... >box his shit >repeat for egg 2 >yeti gets clapped on round 1 and I get my skill point >thanks devs >now I have to go get my ass kicked on the super bonus stage toboggan race that I could never complete as a kid
maybe ill breeze it now idk

Just make sure to pull off a sextuple diagonal front flip at the beginning of each lap to completely fuel up your rockets. Takes a couple of tries to reliably pull it off but if you ration it out the lap and make sure to collect and shoot the rockets at anyone pulling ahead you’ll get it. It’s impossible otherwise
I always figured the planet of Spyro was Saturn sized and Avalar may as well have been as big as Earth if you take into account that all the denizens consider their lands "worlds". It can't be a parallel dimension because they make mentions to dragons.

I prefer to imagine that the Dragon Realms, Avalar, and the Forgotten Realms are on one giant planet like the setting in Hunter x Hunter. The inhabitants referring to their homes as "worlds" could just be further proof that they're unaware of how large the planet they live on is.
unbeatable comfiness to this day
going to the very top of the castle where the music stops and all you can hear is the wind is literally burned into my mind
i want to live with the goat
So Summer Forest it is
Hella cozy
That first area in Summer Forest where you're under the tree canopy and there's a river/pond you can dive in is my favorite.
I don't like summer forest because it requires swimming through an enclosed tunnel to reach the rest of it. Frick that.
Home
I use to just run around Autumn Plains as a kid. Always had a weird melancholy feeling after beating each game

They could have easily completed the seasonal theming thing by calling Dragon Shores, Dragon Springs instead.
i always wondered how far away the different homeworlds and levels were from each other if you traveled by foot
You couldn't travel by foot. The rest of the world was shrouded in fog and ruled over by dragons until Gwyn found the first flame.
Uhhhhhhhhh

I mean, doesn't Bianca literally tunnel from the Forgotten Realms to the Dragon Realms?
I might have to play through Spyro on Christmas day just to get some inkling of feeling like a kid again, thanks for the thread

It fricking sucks Activision killed those upcoming Spyro mods just to do nothing with the franchise after Reignited
It always struck me as so bizarre that Crash and Spyro were so gigantic on the PS1 and then when the next gen hit they both just disappeared.
I know now of course that Universal ended up owning both IPs and made games from different studios but it was really weird to me at the time.
>24 years later
>still mad the moronic monkey was playable in midnight mountain instead of her
I can't believe she was voiced by Milhouse.
I want to frick Elora's faun butt while yanking on her tail
