What should I play?

While we're on the topic of pokemon, do you think scarlet/violet will turn out better than the last 2? Any major leaks? I skipped out on both and haven't played since X/Y.

If you mean everything up to gen 8 then there are romhacks out there that add them plus some of the newer mechanics. Only one I've played is Radical Red though so I don't know which would exactly be the best to recommend.
I will note for Radical Red that the default difficulty is CBT shit. If you just want to play pokemon without jacking off grinding EVs for several days then I would make it easier for yourself.
Or you could go the frick you route and play Pixelmon

      No lmao
There's been design """leaks""" as usual but it's not like anyone knows the validity of them

      >last 2
Scarlet/Violet will be worse than Legends: Arceus
(You can catch every single Pokemon without needing to Trade, they will take that feature out in Scarlet/Violet)

Play Gen 1. There's an exploit that lets you catch every Pokemon.

Pokemon Radical Red. It stuffs every Pokemon up to Sword and Shield into Kanto.

I've been playing pokemon unbound. Its massive and you can catch them all, its also reasonably difficult. I don't like the IV/EV obsession though, and the story is pretty bad.

Games that require IV and EV training, and don't show that information up front with an easy way to train it are shit.

If I use a randomizer, can I catch 'em all? I know you can catch special event Pokemon (Mew, Celebi, etc.), but can you actually encounter every single Pokemon in a certain game?

      Should be
The universal pokemon randomizer specifically has a "catch em all" mode that will ensure every mon will appear at some point
I'll also note that the randomizer also has an option to remove "impossible" evolutions like trade evos, so be sure to check that

Maybe I'll do that, then. I've been itching to replay Emerald, and I think a random run would really spice it up.

There's Pokemon fangames that add in all fricking pokemon to the engine.
There's also a Pokemon Fusion fangame that has Gen 1 to 3 I believe. In every combination.
