Now you can go play a game that's actually good.
ff5 is only superficially like crystal project. much easier boss fights and much less difficult to build party synergy.
Yes, and it's a much better, much more fun game since literally any party composition and any build is viable from start to finish.
Cuckhold Project tried to do a job system RPG without understanding what actually makes those fun to play, all while providing a slew of meaningless things that make Reddit "intellectual gamers" think they're having fun (literally, a spreadsheet simulation).
Do you have an actual argument instead of "muh reddit, muh casuals"?

FF5 Void Divergence
Yes it's only superficially like CP because CP is hot garbage and FF5 is actually good.
Western devs need to stop trying to make jrpgs because all it amounts to is shitty puzzle games that are tedious and not fun.
not sure there's anything like crystal project
>party building
>exploration
>platforming
>no pointless story
>secrets
>openish world
>difficult fights
Genuinely no idea what the frick else is like it.
It's not the same at all but those criteria describe a monster taming game. Perhaps something in the Dragon Warrior Monsters series can scratch the itch? Even without a guide you can breed whatever monsters you like and just give them the best abilities or breed up their stats to beat the game.
DWM on GBC for the patrician
DQM Joker 2 for zoomer plebs
DQM3 was good you could emulate it.
DQM doesn't fit that at all. There is no exploration due to the roguelite level structure and the story is completely linear.
Still a great game, but not accurate.
Also don't really fit. You can explore everything early (I certainly do) but it isn't really the same. 2 is very good.
I suggest Metal Max, as it is the only open world jrpg that does it right.
I could do without the platforming. That was my least favourite part of the game.
Really? I thought the platforming made exploration pretty fun, doing weird jumps to find secrets was pretty cool. You could even use platforming to bypass sections of the game, I got to the city with zero crystals by backtracking the tutorial area, crossing the desert etc then climbing up from the samurai town. You can also still get out to the left of the city without the required crystals too. I was doing a no crystal run but had JUST 100%'d the game so burned out.
The platforming is, at best, a meme designed to distract normalshitters from the mediocre gameplay.
I would suggest octopath traveler 2. Mind you its not as setup complexity intense as CP but it is very setup oriented and has enmity mechanics (tho not as relevant as in CP). Its also completely open ended and has far more build freedom since JP is universal and shared across all jobs for each character.
I'd love an RPG with a good party, but I heard the characters rarely interact with each other. Is this true?
Correct for the first game, the second game has shared missions that focus on two of the characters instead of one and has a proper climax where the party actually interacts with the villains and their schemes as opposed to just silently observing it as a group.
2 is much much better than the first one. Also, its denuvo was removed, so you can pirate it to see if you like it.
Should I not play the first one, then?
Your choice, the first game is pretty much 6/10 but I'd say 2 is an 8/10. 1 is set in the most generic possible setting with the world's most generic conflicts (except maybe Primrose's opener), while 2 is a campy 1800s story that swerves between cowboys, robber barons and incestuous murder cults.
On the other hand, going back to 1 after 2 would be pretty much impossible.
Also, the vast majority of 1's actual plot is explained in lore dumps in the final area and then fully fleshed out in the phone game, which is bullshit on both counts.
Thanks anon.

Yeah frick that shit, I'll just check out the second one
He’s not being entirely fair to 1’s plot. Theres a mystery going on behind the scenes that is explained to you with full context at the end while the 8 stories themselves as well as some sidequests give you subtle hints of things to come. The game is built around discovery and exploration, so you also have to outright find the last boss and area on your own merit (or just look it up, since the sidequest you have to do is pretty well hidden) which I find it interesting since most of the time the solution to sidequests involves paying attention to npc dialogue as well as their scrutinize/inquire text. Its also very satisfying to see how the 8 stories come together. That being said octopath 2 is a colossal improvement over 1 so if you play 2 first then theres no way you’re gonna enjoy 1 as much.
1 does have party banter by the way, its just hidden and detached from the story. Basically as you are doing a story depending on who you have in your party dialogue will happen in the form of travel banter between the protagonist of the story and a traveler in their party. They are well hidden so its a good idea to follow a guide for travel banter. The same goes for 2.
Andrew, stop being a homosexual.
A rpg that's more focused on building a party than its story? Maybe Oreshika? Though exploration in that one isn't nearly as fun.
