Claymore if you're cool. Bastard if you're still cool.
bastard if you're one handing it, claymore otherwise
bastard because it's less commonly used and is more dignified
What's the quickest way to get a bastard sword in DS2?
Assuming SoTFS
that one side area in FoFG that you can unlock from beating last giant. where the fog door and the crouching fella used to be. You can also buy one from Mcduff.
Banished Knight Greatsword
You're a bastard with claymore.
why not both?
First of all, why are you playing Dark Souls 2?
I kinda like it despite its flaws.
you're not allowed to like it stop playing immediately and watch some youtube essays about how it sucks
This is Ganker, no one here is brainwashed by ecelebs with an inflated ego on their interpretations of games. Zoomers stick to twitter.
Dark souls 2 is unironically the best one in the series, I don't care what anyone says.
Well, nice opinion then.
The sum of it's parts is not impressive and its flaws are glaring but there are enough little things I enjoy: Bonfire ascetics, you could buff and infuse almost every weapon, useless summons, status effects were nice to use since it was fun to proc them and it was effective, tons of ways of getting around, so much item and equipment variety that do kinda dumb shit that wasn't made with balance in mind so there is a solution to everything. Dark Souls 2 is my personal favorite after Bloodborne.
Good. Its a flawed masterpiece and the best souls game in the entire series.
The claymore because it has a longer range.
>I will now listen to your opinion
>DS2 doesn't let you get the Zweihander until the game is mostly over
literally unplayable garbage
zweihander is for filtered secondaries so it works out in the end?
>t. casul
bro, giantdad is the epitome of casual provided you're good enough to rush it early game. By lvl 35 you're already a good who can b***hslap manus. If you take it all the way up to 120 like the meta says you may as well be playing with invuln on. Giantdad is fun pvp meta where you get to be the boss, but in PvE its broken as hell.
Bastard sword is literally just a shorter claymore with shittier R2s
it's noticeably faster too
claymore has the poke. bastard has lower weight/stamina cost and damage?
Claymore is pretty much unilaterally superior. Pokes are just better.
DS2 is the best PS1 game ever made.
>server still offline
What a view.
Dark Souls II never looked this bad when I played it last. It was a stunningly gorgeous game throughout the whole thing. The cherrypicked screenshot you have there more reminds me of Dark Souls 1. I promise you.
Neither
Yes. YES. Greatsword is the best.
HAI-YAI FOOOORCES
your speaking my language good sir
>tried out the bastard sword as a filler weapon until I got something better
>end up falling in love, use for the rest of the game and dlcs
Such a robust and versatile weapon, it can both slash and thrust, and the backstep swing is deceptively good. The only reason I would advice against using it is so you don't get heartbroken by that piece of shit masquerading as it in DS3.
Bastard sword doesn't has thrust.
I booted up my 7 year old save to check this and it does have a thrust, but its for the one handed roll. I could have swore it had a heavy attack thrust but it seems I was wrong on that regard.
The only greatsword besides THE greatsword that’s worth using is the MLGS, especially enchanted so you have physical damage on your mage with a NINETY PERCENT block when 2handing a GS.
For me? Craftsman's Hammer of course
Unironically both.
bastard used to have a 5 hit combo but that got patched out
at the moment its just objectively worse than claymore in every single way, its moveset is worse and the less range really kills it
claymore has an incredible r2 and is able to do extreme damage with leo ring and counter hits
das 2 is the most noticeable game out of all the series with counter hits being so strong
Say what you want about DaS2 but nothing really compares to this.
Claymore has the better moveset
Luv me Claymore simple as
Is it me or was the Claymore bigger in the early games? It's huge in Demon's Souls and still pretty big in 1 and 2 but 3 and onward it feels like a bigger version of the longsword. The greatsword/zwei in DeS is fricking massive.
if you go for dex use the flamberge, its the best in the series in all aspects and i fricking hate how they did it in ds3
Any good early game souls farming?
Assuming we're still talking about 2, the best place to farm early game is in the Tower of Flame, the giant knights are worth like 400 souls each and you really can't do better than that for a while. There is a spawn limit on enemies but if you burn them out you can just join the company of champions if you want to continue farming them, but I can't think of any reason you'd really need to farm after clearing out the whole tower since you should be good to push forward in the game for a while.
Thanks
If you do feel the need to farm later in the game, Iron Keep is probably the other best farming spot in my experience.
Bastard Sword is the chad move
