everything chuck said was true but also not true. If chuck had done his job and guided his brother to be better and grow as a person then Saul would have been clean. Saul looked up to chuck and after the first bail chose to turn his life around. chuck was jellous of Saul and wanted to be better then him. His mother looking for Saul proves that and is what fundamentally made chuck hate Saul forever. so Chuck is right but hes also super wrong and a homosexual too.
Okay, I understand that, but here's the thing.
My impression was this: If Chuck didn't sabotage Jimmy's chance at getting a job at HHM then Jimmy likely would have been as clean as possible. But because Jimmy lost respect for Chuck, and that respect, and desire to impress him and earn his praise was lost. There was nothing holding him back. Chuck essentially created a self fulfilling prophecy stupidly. An almost worthless and hollow belief at that point. He CANNOT be right. Because human beings can't be- shouldn't be reduced that way. They're a product of environment and context as well...BUT when I expressed this, somebody expressed some cringe but admittedly valid defence of some instances where Jimmy actually gets a lawyer job but turns on some sign? And that's supposed to indicate he can't change even when he gets something for himself?
Like that destroys the entire nuance, if somebody is just a certain way because (and yes, some people are, but I don't care at that point then, they're not complex people either way) then the nuance of that entire first confrontation is lost, and it's just watching Jimmy be Slippin Jimmy and waiting to see what wacky shenanigans he gets in.

Congrats, you found out Chuck's main flaw. He is technically right about Jimmy's nature. He is WRONG about Jimmy being unable to change. Jimmy could change at the end, and he could have changed with Chuck's help rather than his sabotage.
It doesn't destroy the nuance because it still means Jimmy can become Slippin Jimmy and even worse, Saul Goodman, at the tip of a hat, based on external factors. You can blame Chuck for pushing Jimmy in the Slippin Jimmy seat but Jimmy pushed it up to eleven and did way more awful things than that.
Sell it, theres 0 exclusives that are worth playing.
