Was thinking on the topic of powercreep. WoL is badass because we have 6 crystals of light on us at any given time, in addition to other plot powers like Azem's crystal. Considering that the MSQ appears to be playing everything straight, I think a good way to drop our powerlevel is to have us use one or more of those crystals to 'fix' Azdaja when everything is done. It is 100% in character

Emet-Selch already explained it in ShB. Lahabrea overworked himself. He worked constantly, without rest, for 12,000 years, always switching bodies when the one he was in was too exhausted to continue.
Myeah, I guess. I never liked that explanation so I had hoped Pandaemonium would add another one. When he split from Hephaistos, it explained why he was weakened, but not why he went insane.
When he rejoined with that part of himself, it explained why he went insane, though.
All ranged and healers died to Pandaemonium’s Hell Wrecker (the slams) from straight damage, from full health. This is how normal raids should be.

Everything in this post was agreeable until this point. The only semi-challenging one was P10, the rest are barely above level 50 dungeon bosses before trusts simplified them. It's been a long time since a whole normal raid posed a challenge, since Alphascape at least.

Wind and water phases for Chaos, Middy dealing notoriously high damage with just about everything and especiallythe ahk morn if you had less that 7 people stacking, mustard bomb and the tether were the real culprits for omega, and outgoing aoe damage for M and F. Doesn't apply to the experience since 5.0, and fights on the harder side of SHB don't apply since 6.0. The powercreep in XIV kills old content experience instantly.

Fights used to have more mechanics to keep track of on average. Elidibus and Athena has three whole attacks. The savage version of P12 has to be amazing because this is easily the most embarrassing final boss for a raid, and doesn't help the arena is bland.

It's the first raid I've done day 1 with zero wipes. The only things I even died to were getting dunked by tethering to a post on 3 or 4 webs because I was standing so close to it to get away from the others I couldn't see the line and that was about 10 seconds before it died anyways, and in my sleepy state not noticing the difference between blue and green on Athena's chains.
I wiped to p10 once because the healers weren't willing to use a gcd on his raidwide spam.

This is why every new big release you see half the catalog is about whatever that new game is, but one thread about XIV is banned and mods justify it by claiming it's a "general thread" but 50 threads a day about the latest Zelda or Resident Evil game is fine. SE notoriously doesn't invest in advertisement so of course they aren't gonna pay for threads about this game to be allowed here. That's all this is about. You don't pay for ad space? It's not the rainbow, it's the ending cutscene and the fact that it's a reference to an actual confirmed couple.
See, I don't mind the Gaia/Ryne friendship arc (or lesbian arc if you'd rather interpret it as that) in and of itself, the thing that bugged me is that it completely eclipsed the original plot of the raid. You go into it with the goal of unfricking the First and making it habitable again, but at the end of the series it basically became a footnote to preventing a guy from being too clingy with his gf. The final parts of Eden are all "Yay, we saved Gaia!" and not "Yay, we saved the First! (And also Gaia!)", which just makes me feel kind of cheated. That on top with what that other guy said about the villain of the story being introduced way, way too late for us to be able to care about him.

I'm glad the normal raids felt like a challenge - at least, the last two did - though that does scare me as to the difficulty of the savage tier. I already felt like last tier was getting ridiculous, particularly with the number of "do everything perfectly or die" mechanics. We'll see, I guess.
Also Yotsuyu and Athena sandwiching me between their sweaty bodies, busting nuts endlessly into each one as they both swell with energy before exploding.

It's surprising how appalled half-Lahabrea was at his complete self's deeds, yet still willing to admit that he'd be willing to do the same if the circumstances were right. It's telling how his last words are expressing relief that his odious memories would ultimately fade into nothingness despite everything that would come to pass. But despite the complete Lahabrea's immediate antipathy to the WoL, at least he was willing to admit a certain level of respect for the WoL when they last parted ways at Elpis by giving them some advice. I'd like to think that there's at least an iota of the self-aware and contemplative Lahabrea that we saw in the Pandemonium raid series that was rattling around in the present-day Lahabrea's mind somewhere.
I feel like the Lahabrea memory was much more likeable than post-Anabaseios Elpis Lahabrea. He basically just tells you "I don't like you. I will never like you."
If you click on him again, he says something along the lines of "if you linger, I'll put you in a gaol next to the most unruly creations."

It's not the same, you know? It doesn't compare to hearing it straight from the horse's mouth, whether it's "Frick you WoL I'd do it all again if I could" or "You know, maybe I shouldn't have held onto the rock that makes you crazy for 12,000 years".

Well yeah. Hephaistos was basically his worst elements of his self that allowed Athena to do every horrible thing that she did, including setting in contingencies that would result in the whole Pandemonium kerfluffle. His other saner half is made out of all of the traits that he wanted to keep, probably his rationality and everything else that we like and respect in the Lahabrea we allied with. He doesn't have his legendary stubbornness that Eric alludes to, or at the very least he's willing to change his stance after seeing how things shake out.

I liked it. It's pretty nuanced. It doesn't whitewash him- he still says it's fricked up and hypocritical, but accepts that he might be driven to do the same thing given the circumstances. Much better than "I WOULD NEVER." or "Ackchually its ok cause i dont think you are people anyway xd"
It's fitting. Ultimately Emet-selch is a grouchy dude who is ultimately very sentimental and cares a lot about his pals and life in general, otherwise he wouldn't have allowed himself to get dragged into the various shenanigans that Venat/Azem/Hyth drag him into and do his best to see them succeed. He'd be the type to go through all sorts of mental gymnastics to try to justify how far he's fallen. The rational memory-Lahabrea, on the other hand, seems to be more objective and analytical about things and doesn't have as many emotional factors to cloud his judgment (since they're being contained in Hephaistos), as befitting of a researcher of his station.

You drop web near it and you get tethered to it while also making a bridge, there's most likely going to be more mechs with it in savage.
When target with webs, they have the same effect as being too close to a player (just look at the tethers when you go near em)

Speaking of Zeromus, does anyone else think that Azdaja + Crystal Golbez will be used to make it into more of a primal than another voidsent? With as much as Golbez was ranting about how Azdaja's feelings of wanting to go home would influence the creature, that doesn't sound like typical Voidsent behavior. I think we might end up beating up Zeromus enough for Crystal Golbez and Azdaja to gain enough control to act as the heart for it, much like how Elidibus acted as the heart for Zodiark.
In FF4, Zeromus looks like an amorphous hair monster with jaws until the light of the crystals pierces its true form. Then it becomes an alien-looking final boss thing.

So they had to come up with an explanation.
