    I design TTRPGs.

But do you play or GM them?

No because my games are either itch.io shovelware or unfinished.

Hmmm I've played in and GM'd for multiple different campaigns and systems but I'm currently only playing in a game of bronze age dnd funnily enough I've only like played DnD like 4 times including this incomparison to the countless times I've played everything else, but I suppose it makes sense that if the friend group you play with isn't into DnD so much your gonna usually play stuff that isn't DnD

Sursprise most just larp. Same with the gun board and other hobby boards.

While the idea is nice, the most likely outcome is that a small portion of /tg/ userbase is going to answer your poll or even notice your thread, and it'd be optimistic to assume that the users who do answer are a representative sample if fa/tg/uys in general.

I know but I’m still hoping that most anons answer my poll. People often say that this board is filled with nogames but I think that’s an exageration.

I've been called nogames dozens of times even though I've been consistently playing for 20 years.

I have been called it too even though I have been playing/GMing for six years now but I wanted to get an idea how much if it is true.

Depends. Most people who legitimately don't play games you're going to find in worldbuilding threads and Critical Role General.

Most accusations of nogames you're going to find in any thread where someone asks for advice on how to play the game properly, as anyone who doesn't do it exactly like me to the letter is a fricking larping liar.

              Anonymous

I think a lot of people also use this board as a fantasy/sci fi dump board. They are probably in those world building or setting threads which don’t talk about a specific rpg.

This is not the way to do it. There is no way to guess how many people use /tg/ on average, how many are going to answer your poll, and your results are depending on the average anon being honest. Your poll and its results have less integrity than a californian poll declaring that 80% of people interviewed are anti-gun after asking five 19 year old college students at Berkley.

Why would somebody lie in an anonymous poll?

For shits and giggles? A desire to be thought of, however briefly, as part of the "cool kids" who actually play games? Ganker contrarianism?

I got called nogames while describing a campaign I ran myself. I assume it's one of those words that doesn't really have meaning anymore and people just toss it around to stir the pot.

Some anons seem to find it impossible to believe that anyone could genuinely have even slightly different experiences or preferences than them. This is probably the root of a lot of nogames accusations. Aside from that I think there's a tendency for any word that starts to see use as a slight to eventually lose any meaning it once had aside from vague and general association with something negative. I think there's more than that for the whole nogames thing, though, with some people legitimately not believing that their experiences could be anything but universal and representative of the general state of things.

          Same.
Extra irony points when it's some idiot projecting some bullshit in tune "muh realism mudcore improves the game" or "human male fighter is based and redpilled", as a failed attempt to defend his clear out-of-experience stances. You know - by actual no-games.

    >how many anons are actually involved in TTRPGs
Just a reminder that while TTRPGs are games, TTRPGs are not the only kind of game. I shouldn't even need to mention it, but /tg/ tends to forget. I used to dabble in RPGs, but I think I'm happier with wargaming.

Wargames really need to get popular, especially squad or skirmish ones...a lot of people would be happier playing them instead of rpgs

        Anonymous

From the top of my head
        >Pricetag
        >Even if using army men, still need to buy them and catalog them
        >Require space and measuring tool of any kind
Wargames aren't more popular and won't get more popular, because there is far greater investment of both money (even when you are doing it cheapo-style, with army men and cardboard boxes or random objects as terrain) and time to even get the game rolling. And then it's just a battle skirmish that you might as well just get from any given RTS or tactical shooter, further eroding the will and desire to even bother.

I've got to agree. I've not played too many RPGs, but of the groups I've been a part of, not many players are actually interested in the roleplaying and mostly just want the roll dice, kill dudes, get loot experience. Honestly, that's the best fit for a skirmish wargame, but those same said players will rail the hardest against it, even if you cover all the materials.

Wargames should get their own board or RPGs should get their own board. There's no overlap except in the obnoxious and very very loud crowd of secondary and tertiary (no games) fans of related fiction. I wish the fricking janniss would kill threads made by and for those c**ts to talk about TV shows and video games and whatever fricking flavor of the month bullshit that has their microattention.

Narrative wargames with rpg elements and rpgs with tactical wargame elements have always been the norm. The overlap is considerable. Secondaries, people who don't play games and ignorant frickwits like yourself will accumulate regardless of the number of boards.

What utter nonsense. RPGs do not function like wargames and neither do wargames function like RPGs. There is no overlap, except in the ancient history of the hobby and the overlap produced DnDogshit. Don't worry you can keep them on your shitty troon board. But holy frick it sure would be nice if there was an actual RPG board on this homosexual website.

So you've never heard of a narrative wargame, or played an rpg that has wargame combat?

Literally half the threads are RPG related. Not enough content for you? Maybe go play some actual fricking games.

I used to play and occasionally GM, but then i came to conclusion, that i don't acutaly like it.
Still browse /tg/ sometimes out of nostalgia and because i like the _idea_ of TTRPGs (more than actually playing them).
