I was considering getting that new fishing game by the same company. I want something that has to do with nature. Hunting is bit too barbaric for my liking. Big game hunters should be murdered. That not to say that shoving a hook into fish is any better.

The games been on sale for dirt cheap for at least the last month now. I bought the base game for 5 bucks then just got the dlc I wanted, and skipped the shit I didn't want (military rifle pack? lol, no.). Overall I've spent $20 so far and got close to 60 hours in the game already.

Man those fricked up map gen glitches with floating islands and shit was super aesthetic. I wish they actually leaned into that and made a dreamscape dlc where you hunt cryptids in a semi realistic map with floating islands and sky bridges with a really trippy skybox to look at.

It's exactly what it says it is, a DLC unlocker. I assume it's intercepting dlc checks made by steam, and just saying you own the things. It has some other functions as well, but most people use it for DLC unlocking.

How exactly it achieves this is beyond me, I've never been particularly good with finer technical stuff. If there's a simplified, non-programmer explanation I haven't seen it yet, or don't remember it. It requires the original SteamAPI DLL to be present so I assume it just latching onto that and forcing it to do its bidding report the DLC as owned.

Multiplayer should work just fine as long as there isn't an anti-cheat or non-steam based server verification. Easy anti-cheat will probably detect it and prevent you from playing the game, for example.

Steam itself has never once shown even the slightest sign of giving a shit about creamAPI, so it's relatively safe to use.

If you're too stupid to do basic research then you don't deserve anything, simple as. I fricking hate zoomers and your inability to find out even the most basic things for yourselves.

                >Don't they have some countermeasures in place?
No. That's why Denuvo is trying to develop a new DLC-focused DRM at this very moment, precisely because there is frick-all steam can do due to the nature of how their DLC is validated/downloaded. Some particular games can take their own measures to make it harder (ie, paradox with their own launcher), but even then there are workarounds and no one has ever gotten banned, ever.

The price of total DLC for singleplayer games should not be able to legally exceed the asking price of the base game. I'd say multiplayer too but that's trickier when you factor in MMOs and subscriptions.
