*howls of fury at segregating Superiority Dice to a single fricking subclass from being a baseline Fighter feature in playtest*

The funny thing is that the complaint is "I have played other D&D and liked it", so it's a much more specific "have you tried staying away from 5e?"

That leg is in an impossible position. I get that the artist was probably paid very little for it, but holy shit I could never turn that in.

The waist to shoulder angle seems to be around 70 degrees, which is extreme but not impossible. Then the leg comes up almost to 90 degrees which is a noteworthy stretch but hardly contortionist. The ankle twist is bizarre to occur in motion, but not remotely unreasonable in range-of-motion terms.

The problem is that the shading and outfit force the perspective into highlighting that the right arm and left leg are perpendicular, while the foot angle furthers the skew. It also looks like the torso is very short, but this SEEMS to be a quirk of being bent toward the viewer.

Overall, it COULD be done by a rather modestly athletic person, but it's very unusual and put to print poorly.

The hips are also too narrow unless they're turned toward the viewer. If the hips are turned toward the viewer rotating the trunk sufficiently to put the shoulders in that position would be tricky.

How about always getting to add superiority dice to EVERY attack and damage roll, AND using them for extra tactical benefits AND you never run out?

Why settle for 1 maneuver a turn only usable once per combat or even per day pulled from an enumerated list the devs cobbled together when you can do a maneuver every attack and the only limit is your own creativity? The book doesn't give you explicit mother may i permission to swing from a chandelier and plunging attack the lich straight through his colarbone pinning him to the floor? The book doesn't give you explicit mother may i permission to crack a crumbling stone pillar with a monstrous kick and having it fall on the ogre as you bash his head in with a warhammer. The book doesn't even have rules for fricking pocketsand? It doesn't need to. You're a fighter and fighters are badass, of course you can do it, and if your fighter bonus/superiority die roll more than 3, said badass maneuver is successful.

Tome of Battle mogs the vast majority of non-D&D games in combat, so this is not a valid use of this meme.

There is no such thing as a valid use for that shitspam.

Years and years ago, it might have been possible to pass off the lie that it had some purpose, and not just be immediately called out on "You're aggressively assuming they don't have any experience with other games, acting condescending, and then offering no meaningful advice like suggesting an alternative system, but just telling them to not play the game." Maybe, but not likely.

Now, with the stigma associated with the phrase thanks to trolls spamming it nonstop, it's basically impossible to argue that. Hell, you can even go out of your way to write a post with lots of advice you genuinely consider good like listing alternate systems and why they'd be better for a specific task, and then just torpedo your entire post by asking "Have you tried not playing D&D?" and basically asking the person to treat you like a pretentious and elitist homosexual at best, but more likely just as a meme-forcing troll.

There's dozens of threads dedicated to other games on this very board. No one who comes here is ignorant to the idea of other systems existing. Even if it was possible to say it earnestly, it would still be a dumb c**t move, even without the forced meme stigma. Telling people to try other games can be good advice. But pretending "Have you tried not playing D&D?" could be seen by anyone as wholesome help is like asking people to treat "Should've had an abortion" as advice to someone asking for the best shampoo for their baby.

In all seriousness, yes. Wholeheartedly agree, some of the most fun I had as a melee was playing some of the classes from that book.

Blame the martialgays that b***hed and moaned about it. Don't even get me started on what happened to Warlord. They get what they deserve.

Weeaboo Fightan Magic came out way too late after people had already been conditioned to believe that martials were both supposed to suck, and also the most broken classes if you went out of your way to follow some moronic build guide that claimed you get 50 attacks per round with +120 to hit/damage. So by the time there was this very inoffensive idea to give martials cool maneuvers and tricks and spell-like abilities, morons freaked out because they thought they were playing the game correctly this whole time and that there wasn't anything wrong that needed a drastic change. So that must mean that the weeaboo fightan magic book was wrong and the designers were wrong to even imply that martials needed some different cheese to flavor their attacks.

play as a human and start with that feat that lets you have some superiority dice and maneuvers.
I know it's not the same and it's almost like a "light version", but honestly, 5e weakness it's the simple mechanics and few build options, so there isn't much you can do.

I often played the Crusader class, since they used a mechanic I've not seen any other class use to determine which spells they had ready each round, which made each round feel like I was playing a Card Game while also playing D&D. I even made a sett of Maneuver cards, and put effort into making them seem like they could have been official.

If you NEED ToB to have interesting martials, it means you are massively incompetent both in character building and in playing it in actual game situations.
Since you are a moron, OP, FYI - there is already a 4e thread for cretins like you. Post your shit opinions there.

There's an extremely vocal minority among grognards that want to historically revision all Eastern influence out of D&D to make it a LotR/Conan the Barbarian crossover game with none of the kung fu or wacky sci-fi stuff that's always been in the setting. People that actually get upset that the Monk class exists. Tome of Battle was the closest D&D official material ever specifically told them to frick off, and they seethe about it to this day.

Because martials having resources and martials having fun are both not allowed.

That's why when they made Oops All Tome of Battle 4e, it nearly killed the brand. Martials must be Town Guard NPCs as PCs, no exceptions.

Anon what killed the brand was the GSL, a double homicide and shareholders voting to downsize D&D to focus on MtG. Nobody gave a shit about your edition warrior grievances about Fighters not being mogged by Clerics anymore.

    They are, though.
You just have to beg your DM to write in the things you want and hope he likes them.
D&D 5e has everything good that good DMs do for their good groups and that makes D&D 5e the best TTRPG in the world, and it doesn't have any of the bad things that bad DMs do for their bad groups, why would what people do at their table affect what's in D&D?
