I would like a brainstorming session on how to make use of him in singles please. I'm a karengay and I use a lot of shitty pokemon, but even can't figure out anything Cacturne is capable of doing besides using sucker punch and then dying. What's the secret? Spiky shield? Destiny bond? Do I HAVE to do substitute leech seed bullshit? Even with loaded dice his fricking seed bomb won't kill hippowdon, it's just not fair.
>Even with loaded dice his fricking seed bomb won't kill hippowdon
the frick are you using loaded dice with seed bomb for
do you mean bullet seed?
Yes I meant bullet seed
I tried but everything just out speeds and kills him in one hit.
I know! And that's requiring someone else set up a sandstorm for him and then switch to him. So much setup just for Cacturne to usually get outsped and one shot if they don't miss.
You can run it as a mixed attacker and use giga drain/grass knot/energy ball/leaf storm
Karen is a dumb bawd who just said that to make favoritegays feel good and donate to her OnlyFans.
Cuckturne is trash, dump it and find a competitively viable mon like Eternamax Eternatus
It never even began for Cacturne. The only thing it can pull off is gay Brightpowder + Sand Veil hax
It only needs one thing to become usable: Sand Rush. It could be a decent sand sweeper with good type synergy with other sand mons
Too bad gamefreak is moronic and doesn't care
Cacturne is an amazing offensive Spiker in NU. Due to its strength and typing, it finds many opportunities to switch in on and threaten tier staples like Sandaconda, Qwilfish, and Drifblim. Cacturne is also good at taking advantage of Water-types like Bruxish and Floatzel thanks to Water Absorb, giving it more chances to set up Spikes and dish out heavy damage. Dark Pulse reliably pressures Defoggers like Drifblim and Lurantis as well as Magic Bounce Hattrem. A Naive nature lets Cacturne outspeed Modest Clawitzer without sacrificing any power. Braviary is an excellent teammate for Cacturne, since it dissuades Defog attempts with Defiant and reliably pressures special walls. In return, Cacturne offers Braviary safety from Bruxish, offensively checks Ghost-types, and can facilitate late-game cleaning with Spikes. Setup sweepers like Hisuian Sneasel and Vivillon become much harder to stop when backed by Spikes and also match up well against Defoggers like Braviary and Lurantis.
>Cacturne is an amazing offensive Spiker in NU
>its the best of the worst!
absolutely depressing
Actually it's not PU or ZU so it's not the worst
>NOOOO I REFUSE TO USE MY BRO IN A SETTING IT'D BE USEFUL IN
Your loss
Mindgame the frick out of your opponent with Sucker Punch and Focus Punch
Cacturne deserves to suffer for ruining my bro Cacnea
I learned the hard way how shit this dude is in my randomizer of HGSS
>oh shit an early pupitar!
>maybe I can do a sand team...oh shit cacnea has immunity to sand right? I'll use him for some grass coverage!
I was stuck with absorb until 53...for a fricking base 60 grass move
awful
oh and apparently it lost needle arm in gen 8
lol goodbye signature move!
>sucker punch and then dying
It's pretty much just this. Give it a Choice Band or something.
Needle Arm deserves a buff and its baffling its not a punching move despite its animations using a fist
Bad pokemon like these only exist so Lati@s and Metagross look good.
oh?
Put it in Doubles and make a Trick Room team or something. It's easier to play around bad stats on any Pokemon in Doubles. Ignore the Singles meme.
SLOW
FRAIL
MIXED
FRICKING
ATTACKER
Modified FEAR.
>Focus Sash
>Endeavor
>Spiky Shield
>Sucker Punch
>Knock Off/Destiny Bond/Fell Stinger
Endeavor/Sucker Punch for the FEAR combo. Spiky Shield protects the sash against Fake Out and potentially scores the KO after you use Endeavor. Knock Off/Destiny Bond inconveniences the switch-in. Fell Stinger provides a boost if your opponent decides to stay in and doesn't attack you (unlikely to happen but it might lead to some funny "Kingambit at home" shenanigans).
t. has never played competitive before
Kind of tangential, but one of the reasons I like random battles on showdown is that you're forced to make use of mons you'd otherwise overlook entirely. I have a greater appreciation of a lot of pokemon because of this. Comfey is a recent example, I've found that triage with giga drain or draining kiss is a useful card to play if your opponent is stacking speed and can help you out of otherwise precarious positions.
The main reason though is that I have zero ability to plan and teambuild, and my main skill is in improvisation
if only gamefreak would come up with a way to cater to this kind of gameplay style in their own games...
Funny you mention this, because as a kid, the battle factory was my favorite facility
