press r1/rb right as an attack connects. you get rewarded with health, magic, some damage if the enemy is in range, and if you were charging something its pretty much guaranteed to be fully charged after your parry
Yeah that is some nonsense but also there's a small text-blurb in the Elements menu. Frick I'm tired and can only play this late but why can't they just outright tell you about the armor outside of the menu?
i GUESS the color change to her character is an indicator but come on.
I had this same problem too. I read the fire immunity thing but the game states it as "on use" when it should be "while charged". I assume its a translation error. Technically you still have a few frames of armor/fire immunity while firing the charged shot but that's obviously not related to what you have to do here.

you can parry everything and anything, even your own attacks to get back health and recharge magic

There is a tutorial message on the floor telling you that it gives armor when you get the spell.
