I've seen a lot of people talking about how bad new Pokémon is and that it was only good in gens 1-3. I think what a lot of these people don't realise is that they probably don't like the games anymore because they grew up. You probably only think they've gotten worse because you've played more games you like, or your life has changed. Pokémon has always been, and always will be, Pokémon. I would prefer if TPC put all their effort into the new games and making memorable experiences than porting the old games. This stuff makes me think about that one SpongeBob meme with the fish crying in the car. After these games get released on new consoles the fans complain about them and ask for something else. I hate having people who don't even like the brand anymore dictating what the community wants and yelling the new games suck. If you want to play the old games, go buy or emulate them. Complaining in the community doesn't help anybody. It's sad seeing people so lazy that instead of just looking up how to get the game themselves they force other people to do their work. In 100 years, people won't remember the rereleases of the original games, they'll remember the new ones.

Well, duh. They're not a studio staffed by 20-somethings with no expectations from the publisher who stipended them a few quid to make the game, and contracted them for schlep work to eep it going any longer. They're also not restricted or hampered by filesize constraints or display limitations so by very definition they can't make them like before, because there's both no need to or no point to, when they evolved as the hardware allowed them. But they also haven't been told to focus on one particular generation of kids and grow the brand up either, which is where your problem lies. You don't want games made in "the old style", you want them made for the old players who experienced the older games for the first time during their release years and not the kids the series has historically made their shit for.

I do think gen 1 and 2 with stadium compatibility would be, by far, the best decision that nintendo (not sure if game freak is that involved in the switch emulator decisions) could make for their fans
I think that going back and having gen 1+2, stadium 1+2 as a highly accessible but rewarding base for the brand would just put it in a better spot than having shitty dlc be their big spotlight
