You don't really "need" it though, the game is perfectly fine without ever moving the partner with it. He moves on his own and besides you're better off playing 1 character at a time in most of the game.
This thing is really cool and I'm super interested in it but it's pretty much useless when there's retroblue adapters. I guess the minimal input lag due to being wired would be relevant to some people. But damn I wish I owned this controller. I must have been dropped as a baby and got a little bit of autism based on how I feel about this dumb children's toy game controller
It's your choice, man
I guess you could play Mega Man NT or the X Collection with it
>I guess you could play Mega Man NT or the X Collection with it
Don't you mean "I guess *I* could play Mega Man NT or the X Collection with it"? No, of course you didn't
I couldn't justify the price tag for the HORI one and I don't use garbage off-brand controllers so instead I rewired a SNES controller to work on Gamecube. Map the Z button to Select.
I only use it for Game Boy games.
>I don't use garbage off-brand controllers
I have been using a wired off brand 360 rock candy controller for about 3 or 4 years now, and it still works perfectly. I'm serious
Outside of Kirby Air Ride, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, & DDR: Mario Mix, what other games for GCN can you control ENTIRELY with the d-pad and without the need for a C-Stick? I legitimately can't think of anything...
There's tons of games. Literally. Just gotta Google them
Can't really say GB games don't count when that's the damn point of it. Four Swords Adventures I guess?
For GB games: Metroid Fusion, Zero Mission, Minish Cap, Pokemon Blue, Link's Awakening, ALTTP
>Can't really say GB games don't count when that's the damn point of it.
But I fricking did. GB games are the most obvious choices. Literally

The d-pad does not feel right on it. However you can put a regular SNES dpad in it and it feels better.

My brother is dumb with money and gave me an extra HORI one that he bought.
Mainly just did it with the Sonic Mega Collection before setting up my Wii for emulation.
That controller became my goto for GameBoy games.
Too arsed to get a GB Player.
Guess I'll give some more games a playthrough, though Melee and Brawl are a nogo simply for 'needing' the stick.
It looks like it would be good for Mega Man X Collection, Sonic Mega Collection, and Sonic Gems Collection. Nintendo Puzzle Collection too if you have a Japanese console
I picked up a LegecyGC controller when they came out earlier this year. I haven't tested a lot of stuff with it, but it's been a real solid controller every time I use it.
Retrobit makes some ugly ass looking shit but I'd trust their brand over old skool. Only issue Retrobit really has is that they never backport any fixes or changes made to new iterations back to the previous versions.
- Zelda 1 & 2 (on the Zelda collector's edition)
- Mega Man X Collection
- Sonic Mega Collection
And a bunch of Gameboy Advance games on the Advanced Game Player. I thought about using it on REmake and RE3, but I'd rather use the same RE controls for all the games as I'm so used to the GC controller
I don't have a Hori, but a Snes to GC ralphnet adapter works just as well. The Gamecube dpad is pretty shit, so I actually ended up using it for Resident Evil 2 and Zapper: One Wicked Cricket, and those games felt waaaaay better to control.
I don't think so? I find that I'm better at directional inputs in RE2, and I'm able to play way faster in Zapper than I could using the standard gamecube controller, so I feel like I would have noticed it by now. I've only used the NES, SNES, and Genesis adapters with hyperkin contollers, though, so I can't tell you if there's a slight delay on any of their other products.
It's unironically the best controller you can use for Mega Man Network Transmission. You can play that game without control stick and C-stick, and it's better for it.
>Game Boy games don't count
But that's when it truly shines! I love using it in F-Zero Maximum Velocity with the Sly Joker.
You could connect it to a Nintendo 64 with an adapter and play Mischief Makers, I suppose.
Game Boy games don't count because those are the most obvious choices. It's called a "Game Boy controller" because it was meant to be played with the Game Boy Player. But there are plenty of Gamecube games that use the tiny d-pad, and the controller can be used for those games too
Ikaruga, Sonic Mega Collection and a few others. Don't really like the (Hori) thing. Comfy enough to hold and button placement is fine, but it feels too lightweight and the d-button has always been responsive but stiff; it doesn't have the give of other official SNES pads (or any decent modern pads.) Probably can be fixed with some surgery but I can't be bothered.
I don't have this controller but it looks like it could be good for basically ever RE game on GC except RE4
You need the c-stick for partner zapping system in RE0
You don't really "need" it though, the game is perfectly fine without ever moving the partner with it. He moves on his own and besides you're better off playing 1 character at a time in most of the game.
The D pad is so ass on this thing

BS

The NES games in Animal Crossing?
Can you move your avatar in AC with just the d-pad? If not, it doesn't count.

Viewtiful Joe because FRICK playing 2D games with analog.
Best comment so far I think. Pretty sure there's only one walking speed in that game anyway. Would probably be great with this controller

Maybe fighting game like Soulcalibur 2.

Do these cause any input lag?

Raphnets are zero lag. Well techcnically the USB ones have like 1ms of input lag.
his website admits there is SOME lag
but its not a noticable amount
raphnet is autistic like this board
i have a few of his adapters they work great
There's a reason why his adapters became highly desired by Guitar Hero players.
Same except I use the one for classic controllers, good use for the SNES and Wii Classic controllers.
I got one of these. It's complete trash. Do not buy. I got a HORI one from japan and it's 10 times better.
>It's complete trash. Do not buy.
TOO FRICKING LATE, b***h
I'M USING IT RIGHT NOW
Well hope it's serving you well, I found it to be unusable
It's unironically the best controller you can use for Mega Man Network Transmission. You can play that game without control stick and C-stick, and it's better for it.
I have one of these. it isn't bad, but the d-pad is mid.

Is this controller worth picking up to use for SNES emulation? I really dislike the buttons on the SNES, but enjoy everything else.
Would have been smarter and more efficient to have that blue button on the back
Nintendos controls between N64 and switch are trying too hard to reinvent for no good reason. (Only exception is wii sports maybe)
Z is literally the GameCube’s version of select

Frick you, /vr/annie.
