if I played shooting games for 100 hours, number of hours I used LMGs would probably be less than 1%
I cant be alone in this, I feel like noone ever uses LMGs at all

>bfbc2
>medic
>hc mode
>suppressive fire the shit out of the enemy team while raking in the kills, since 2 bullets are enough to kill anyone and you can shoot over 100 of them before needing to reload
>mg3
>4x scope
>magnum bullets
yep it's time to hold down the trigger and kill people in 1 second
This was my brother.
I like how the Division games made suppression an actual baked in mechanic which LMGs excel at.
Locking someone down with suppressing fire so your buddy can just waltz over behind their cover and plug them point blank for free feels good.
LMG units are fun, but using LMGs is a bad compromise, as you are never in a position to use such bulky guns
although I used em quite a lot in BF1
Most lmg in battlefield 1 sucks. I tried playing with the Perino and i wanted to kill myself after one hour. The only good lmgs are the chauchat, the bar and the mg08/15
>most lmgs suck
skill isssue and I mean that unironically, the parabellum is quite possibly the best weapon in the game
If you enjoy playing like a subhuman maggot who crawls on the ground and bipods where ever he goes, yes.
>he cant run n gun with the parabellum
git gud
>can't control the Parabellum's recoil
ngmi
BF1 LMGs were great. Actually felt distinct instead of just being 'big mag ARs'. BFV did them dirty by making them just shittier ARs, thanks to DICE pandering to the Scouts who b***hed they couldn't land perfectly accurate shots when they were suppressed and caught out in the open.
Love machine guns but they feel kind of like shit in most multiplayer games to use
Can't think of games that do it better than battlefield
CSGO lmgs are really fun
Negev after 10 shots is a fricking laser beam and the m249 is just an ak with a big mag CS LMGs are great.
the only time they're good is in class based fps shootan ie Battlefield where they have to be good. If it's a BR or cod game they got mogged by ARs as the god weapon that works at all ranges.
games generally dont lend themselves to proper use of lmgs, which is firing from a fixed position or prone on a bipod. not that you can't shoulder fire something like an m240, but its not the ideal situation. that and if they had the range, accuracy, damage and rate of fire of their real life counterparts they would be broken in every game they are in.
i like it when LMG's are treated like super assault rifles because your character is so meaty
love my belt feeds, love the bipod, hate snipers
simple as
*snipes you from 300 meters away making you lose your camping spot in your direction*
Yeah it happens, I got nothing against snipers that actually do their jobs.
That's how I play sniper, by counter sniping and taking out any other threats.
Counteesniping while all the little people get shredded down below.
Pure kino
CSGO office with Negevs was fun as frick.
I use LMGs all the time in COD just so I can fire off like a madman for 20 seconds straight into a hallway, get zero kills, then immediately get killed when I start the 8 second reload.
BF seems to be the only good game with LMGs
exactly
cant remember a single time where a COD lmg was meta during cod4 - black wieners 4 era
idk how things have been since
>exactly
i was being serious lmao
also
>meta
>in cod
jesus christ metagays are the worst
They were actually OP in WW2, the one no one played. In the new MW1 at release at least LMGs were all over the place when people figured out you can attach all of the ADS speed and handling mods to one and turn it into a fat assault rifle. In BOCW lmgs had one job and it was holding a couple sightlines on Nuketown, but they were absolutely disgusting at that one job.
you tend to see lmgs in those easy to use noob classes like lsat target finder, thermal any lmg in mw3 due to how lmg recoil worked in mw2, m27 thermal, geez why do so many noob classes have vision enhancing sights???
I meant to write mw3 not mw2
the trick is to leave enough ammo to bait people into pushing you when they think you're reloading, before actually reloading
lmg in mgs3 is cool because you can only hip fire it and you start yelling when start firing. it's basically the "frick it i don't care about stealth anymore" gun
I agree but all these contrarian liars will tell you how it's all they use
how do we address the LMG question?
make them assault rifles with 200 bullets
Make them as stupid powerful and accurate as the real counterparts but also make them stupid cumbersome to use (low movement speed/higher stamina use, heavy aim inertia/recoil while standing, long bipod depoyment/retrieval animation, long reload times though almost every game does this already, etc)
Never played Red Orchestra 2? Kraut team always has 1 or 2 Rambos going ham with the MG
Battlefield 3 had the best LMG mechanics. They would lay down suppressing fire and it would make you nearly useless until it stopped.
LMGs are thinking man's weapon of choice, ADHD zoomers zooming around the map wouldn't understand
>play cod/battlefield
>pick one stairwell
>post up with claymores and bipod lmg
>rack up 20+ kills
Thats because in most games they're shitier assault rifles, which in on themselves are prety shit as well
in realistic games they're god's gift to the squad
>just an assault rifle with a frickhueg mag and shit accuracy
>when there's basically no reason not to reload after every burst when every FPS has pooled ammo and quick reloading
LMGs are balanced like shit, same tier as shotguns with disappearing buckshot past a meter.
Many games do LMGs dirty by making them have piss poor damage per shot. But whey they do it right, it's magical. I love LMGs in Rising Storm 2 in particular since they serve as both area denial tools and sniper rifles there.
Once it clicked that this thing is an automatic mosin I never put it down. Turning a huey full of GIs into hamburger never gets old
Oh yeah, Dinnerplate sucked dicks in RO2, but man, is it fun in RS2.
>play pavlov vr
>dual wield lmgs
Makes my dick hard
jugs are a good way to introduce fun LMGs to casual shooters
it means you can head into action without wasting minutes camping
but jugs would be difficult probably
Reminds me when I used to go full fat frick with a barricade shield and LMG on Blacklight: Retribution, with an armor like that and all.
I prefer a more fun approach
ATF is seething and coping over this level of second amendment exercising.
americans will circumcise even their kalashnikovs
Sweet anti-aircraft pistol bro
aww it’s so cute! i want one
God imagine the muzzle blast if that wasn’t pistol caliber
Metal Gear franchise knows how to make them worth using but their fire rate is always too slow compared to reality. Snake yelling like Rambo if you held fire long enough in MGS3 is also just fricking cool.
Other than that there always seems to be a better weapon than any given LMG in pretty much every game I can think of.
I exclusively use lmgs and shotguns coz I'm not a homosexual like op.
>tfw Heavy Gunner in Synthetik
>flip an AK upside down
>one of the best GPMGs in the world
How the frick did Kalashnikov do it?
he had a big brian
I spent many hours in BF1 with its great machine guns
Lovely 200-round beasts that could be bipod-deployed for virtually zero recoil
God, Ennis's Punisher MAX was kino. Shame Jason Aaron ruined it, but he did that with mainline Punisher as well, so it's not surprising.
I main LMGs in Red Orchestra/Rising Storm/Insurgency
in those kinds of games LMGs are death lasers when mounted
LMGs are my least favourite weapons but they are pretty good.
I hate prone bipod head glitch warriors so much it's unreal.
>arma 3
>dont feel like playing normally
>grab an LMG and frick off mags
>BBTRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR *ch-ch-chk* … BBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
>get my head blown off in 2 minutes
>repeat
LMGs are like drugs. there’s a time and a place.
havent tried fortnite for a while heard they removed building autism, is the game fun now?
nope
love LMGs in rising storm 2 (M60) and Verdun (madsen)
LMGs are always poorly done in games because their irl purpose just isn't fun for gameplay
>precise bursts to keep someone pinned down
>inaccurate spraying to make a group think twice about moving
>plunging fire to saturate an area out of the line of sight
best implementation of them was BF2142 and BF1, where they got more accurate as you sustained fire, but irl they'd overheat fast and you'd have to change the barrel. you still couldn't do plunging fire though as although there was bullet drop it wouldn't work in a vertical arc. also DPS is just too low for the suppression effect to be anything other than just annoying.
an accurate implementation of LMGs would only be good niche games like Arma, it'd be very tricky to put in without it pissing players off. plus they weigh a lot (on purpose so they stay on target), which could work as a nerf for players if it reduced movement speed, jump height, etc but then any aggressive LMG player would be outpaced by teammates.
Few games can balance and use an LMG for it's primary doctrinal purpose.
If it's not balanced high enough or if the game's movement is liberal enough, base of fire tactics are moot because a shotgunner can parkour through the stream of bullets and frick you.
Additionally, respawn makes suppression useless because getting shot only gives you an easy out to re-asses and potentially even flank a gunner's position now that it's known.
Arma, Insurgency, squad, cs:go, etc all heavily weighted mechanically to discourage CoD c**tery, still find themselves victim of the nature of how videogames are played. Even with a 20 minute respawn cooldown, people are gonna go for hail-mary plays at their own expense just for the cool factor.
Lmgs in games make for a fun bullethose to punish poor positioning and hastily planned advances, but few gamers will find the ole drop and pop suppression trick less than useful.
even in the more realistic games LMGs suck or maybe its just me, in hell let loose firing of a LMG is like holding up a big neon sign that says "shoot me"
The trick for using LMGs in autism shooters is being far enough away you can't get killed by regular grunts easily or setting up in such a position where an enemy can't realistically get a drop on you, like a long street. That said, not going full auto like a moronic monkey and changing your poisition relatively often also helps, but that applies to any class.
> not going full auto like a moronic monkey
like telling a fish not to swim brother
nah thats why i stopped using them, just not a class im good with and i like to be in the thick of it
Post your stats you Black folk
Project Reality made LMGs feel almost like a automatic sniper
They're only fun in milsims like Arma, otherwise they suck ass.
