clone hero and yarg suck for local party play since they dont have any of the charm gh/rb did. your best bet is to get an RGHd Xbox 360 and "obtain" all the DLC. plus RGHd 360s can still run customs. you could play rb4 on modern ps/xbox but I wouldnt recommend investing in it at this point unless you have a huge DLC catalog from back in the day
RPCS3 works pretty well, but you'd either need retail USB Xplorer guitars and instruments, or custom arduino guitars. Everything there is free, with DLC easily found and intsalled
>Spent $2000+ on Rock Band and Guitar Hero DLC over the years
No regrets. You get a lot for your money especially if you play every instrument, doubly so when those songs were like $1 for a few years.

clone hero is for frauds anyways. hop on yarg bro

clone hero's extremely generous timing window makes it brain dead easy. plus it has no vocals support and pretty mediocre drums. if youre a casual I guess its fine but I see no reason to use clone hero when yarg exists and is a more faithful adaptation that wasnt just made for spamming autist meme videos
Good point on vocal support, that's a big missing feature of CH. If I setup YARG could I just point it to my song folder for CH and it'll work, or would I need to download different ones?

Yeah I'd buy this Rockband 5. I do have some personal suggestions for a few of the bands you included, since there's bands I like or love in that listen but not exactly the songs: >Sabbath
Hand of Doom or Fairies Wear Boots would be way better picks from Paranoid. Dio era Sabbath would also be cool. >Pantera
Cemetery Gates is a great, safe pick, but I wouldn't mind something else from Cowboys from Hell like Shattered or Domination. The title track for Power Metal, or the song Death Trap from the same album, would be a cool throwback to the first Anselmo Pantera album, back when his Rob Halford influence was much more apparent. Speaking of Anselmo, Down would also be a great fit for Rockband too.
I actually did have a few other Sabbath picks. Fairies Wear Boots was one of them, the others were The Wizard and Supernaut. I went with Iron Man as a 'this is one of the songs you'd advertise on the box' pick, and also to fill out definite impossible tier drums songs. But really, there's a shitload of Sabbath no rhythm game ever got I'd be content with, even if you include the 4 tracks Rock Band got covers of, and the few additional song GH got near it's end of life.
As for Pantera it's a similar boat, but more Cemetary Gates is the biggest Pantera track that wasn't in 2, 3, or 4s lifetime song line-up, so it's kind of a 'how haven't we done this yet' pick. Certainly wouldn't be opposed to other songs though.
>The Wizard and Supernaut
These would have also been hype picks I would have been very excited for. You're right, way too many good Sabbath picks to choose from in general.
For sure, I get that. I think most of the best stuff (including Great Southern Trendkill minus Suicide Note pt. 1, which I assume they just didn't have the masters to) post CFH is in Rockband as it is. That being said, if I had to pick one post CFH track, it'd be Stronger Than All.
PS3/360 would've been ideal since a lot of the old DLC and expansion packs don't transfer over to the last gen systems but you missed that boat. I haven't played Clone Hero or any of the other f2p games but if any of the old charts were recreated there I'd just play that
Xbox line.
360 for RB3 (the best game in the series) and the pro instruments if you can somehow find them, then your DLC for that carries over into Rock Band 4 if you must get that on Xbox One onwards.
The Xbox 360 store is shutting down in a few months though so get on it.
just get an rgh at this point. zero reason to invest in a soon to be dead ecosystem. especially since you cant even get the exports on retail anymore if you didnt own them already
Xbox 360, generally the easiest to pirate the DLC with and lots of instruments for it. But you're gonna be doing customs as well, the game is what you make of it because 4 ain't worth a damn.
>have at least 5 usb guitar controllers >every fricking one has some issue, be it faulty fretboard connectors, broken peg in the strumbar, etc >GH2 PS2 controller still works just fine
Did any of the two-piece GH controllers NOT have hardware issues inherent to the design?
bros how the FRICK do I fix this shitty lag on PS3? I've been dicking around with the settings for hours and can't get past the fifth setlist. I can get FCs on Gitadora at the arcade no problem but this delay is making me miserable.
It does, I also tried out every single preset in game just for shits and giggles, did the sight and sound adjustment, then manually adjusted it after that didn't work. My shit is always just ever so slightly off. I'm legit about to see if playing on my CRT works better with a signal converter.
Is it gonna work with Rock Band 4 at least? >Fortnite Festival charts drum kicks as similar looking notes
Did they learn nothing from every single clone that tried to copy them?
I know they plan to add actual instrument support in the future, maybe when playing on real drums it'll change to the traditional kick notes? Same with HOPOs appearing for guitar/bass.
I wonder if we'll ever get actual vocals down the line. I guess they don't want to deal with mic sync issues, but the 5 note layout for it really sucks
Either there's literally no one left at Harmonix who understands why that worked from a UX perspective, or some clueless dickhead at Epic objected on the grounds of Fortnite zoomers who tested it were dumb to understand that.
I know it's a niche specialty item, and having a rechargeable battery is nice, but I just can't justify spending $150 on yet another plastic guitar. My RB4 strat still works fine after nearly a decade.
If you have a decent enough computer, just emulate RB3 on RPCS3. Get RB3 Deluxe too, has a lot of neat QoL features and there's also online servers. Songs (both official and custom) are easy enough to find online as well.
literally go play Fortnite. I'm serious. Rock Band was a great saga but at this point it's literally on death row. It won't be long before the homosexuals at Epic decide to kill all the DLC. The only hope now is that the stupids find a way to send all the DLC to Fortnite and that way keep it on the stores.
>the homosexuals at Epic decide to kill all the DLC
they already did, there's no more Rock Band 4 dlc drops, all of the dev time is going into Fortnite Festival lol
None. Harmonix is no longer releasing content after they were acquired by Epic so the series is effectively dead. Plus you can't get instruments without selling your left nut.
does an electronic drum kit only connect to PC or is console available? i actually wouldn't mind owning an electronic set if it were multipurpose, even though i want an actual drum set at some point
>playing through Rock Band 1 for the first time, single player >"wtf, this kind of really sucks" >stick with it anyway >tfw the final song was fricking amazing
Just play on YARG or Clone Hero. You can just download any song from every GH/RB game plus endless customs .
i have buddies that would probably want to play on couch co op. does clone hero support that?
i play guitar but crave the clack of plastic.

It would probably be cheaper to buy a real guitar with how much and how many song packs there are
You don't have to buy any song packs

>Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver
>La Villa Strangiato
>Grey Matter
Yeah I'd buy this Rockband 5. I do have some personal suggestions for a few of the bands you included, since there's bands I like or love in that listen but not exactly the songs:
>Sabbath

>Fatal Illusion by Megadeth finally got on there
>Tier 0 Bass
>Tier 4 Vocals
Something tells me they got those mixed up
even tier 4 would have made it feel undertiered kek
>tfw was one of those "I'll just swap my discs if I want to play the old songs" guys. I got rb3 at least when 4 came out
PS3/360 would've been ideal since a lot of the old DLC and expansion packs don't transfer over to the last gen systems but you missed that boat. I haven't played Clone Hero or any of the other f2p games but if any of the old charts were recreated there I'd just play that
>tfw nobody to play clone hero with
clone hero is for frauds anyways. hop on yarg bro
Just get a PC that can run Xenia and you can get Rock Band 2 Deluxe.
Xbox line.
360 for RB3 (the best game in the series) and the pro instruments if you can somehow find them, then your DLC for that carries over into Rock Band 4 if you must get that on Xbox One onwards.
The Xbox 360 store is shutting down in a few months though so get on it.
just get an rgh at this point. zero reason to invest in a soon to be dead ecosystem. especially since you cant even get the exports on retail anymore if you didnt own them already
>tfw I have all the imports
feels good bros
Xbox 360, generally the easiest to pirate the DLC with and lots of instruments for it. But you're gonna be doing customs as well, the game is what you make of it because 4 ain't worth a damn.
>have at least 5 usb guitar controllers
>every fricking one has some issue, be it faulty fretboard connectors, broken peg in the strumbar, etc
>GH2 PS2 controller still works just fine
Did any of the two-piece GH controllers NOT have hardware issues inherent to the design?
I have 3 Wii guitars and they all worked fine. Biggest issue I ever ran into was the spring on the whammy bar breaking on all of them.
The drums were worse. Always prone to breaking after a few months of play.
Somehow both my RB1 and GHWT drums still work fine. The WT ones have some deterioration on the cords for the cymbals though.
bros how the FRICK do I fix this shitty lag on PS3? I've been dicking around with the settings for hours and can't get past the fifth setlist. I can get FCs on Gitadora at the arcade no problem but this delay is making me miserable.
It's your TV. See if it has a game mode or anything
It does, I also tried out every single preset in game just for shits and giggles, did the sight and sound adjustment, then manually adjusted it after that didn't work. My shit is always just ever so slightly off. I'm legit about to see if playing on my CRT works better with a signal converter.
I had the same issue and resolved it after like 3 months by flipping my HDMI cable. I don't know why it worked but it did.
Set your television to game mode if possible and try to manually calibrate in the game settings.
if youre playing gh3, the ps3 version is atrocious iirc
Rock Band 1, sorry, should have clarified.
I play with the calibrations zeroed out on a CRT and RB2 & 3 play just fine
I guess I will try picking up a converter then. Thanks for the info.
you DID get your riffmaster preorder in, right Ganker?
Is it gonna work with Rock Band 4 at least?
>Fortnite Festival charts drum kicks as similar looking notes
Did they learn nothing from every single clone that tried to copy them?
its in the title lol. but yeah, will work natively on rb4 and its already been confirmed to have great compatibility with ch/yarg.
I told myself this last time we got new instruments, and slowly saw the prices reach insane heights. im buying these as backups
>charts drum kicks as similar looking notes
What did he mean by this?
It's not a bar like in Guitar Hero or Rock Band, it's just another note. Drums are still 5 lanes.
I don't understand why they'd do this since it's made by Harmonix. Why change it?
I know they plan to add actual instrument support in the future, maybe when playing on real drums it'll change to the traditional kick notes? Same with HOPOs appearing for guitar/bass.
I wonder if we'll ever get actual vocals down the line. I guess they don't want to deal with mic sync issues, but the 5 note layout for it really sucks
Either there's literally no one left at Harmonix who understands why that worked from a UX perspective, or some clueless dickhead at Epic objected on the grounds of Fortnite zoomers who tested it were dumb to understand that.
I have enough plastic instruments, including the bendy jag I only used once
I keep going back to my trust SG
I know it's a niche specialty item, and having a rechargeable battery is nice, but I just can't justify spending $150 on yet another plastic guitar. My RB4 strat still works fine after nearly a decade.
I had no idea anyone made a new one so I'll have to wait till June/July when they're back in stock to pick one up.
is there ANY good 3rd party usb guitars that work on xbox?
If you have a decent enough computer, just emulate RB3 on RPCS3. Get RB3 Deluxe too, has a lot of neat QoL features and there's also online servers. Songs (both official and custom) are easy enough to find online as well.
Damn, that was the pitch Shohei
literally go play Fortnite.
Plus you can't get instruments without selling your left nut.
>tfw coworkers want to play fortnite over the weekend
>uhhh ok
>we play nothing but the rock band mode
Better than nothing, but it made me miss RB
does an electronic drum kit only connect to PC or is console available? i actually wouldn't mind owning an electronic set if it were multipurpose, even though i want an actual drum set at some point
>or is console available?
If you feel like buying a $1000 adapter
>playing through Rock Band 1 for the first time, single player
>"wtf, this kind of really sucks"
>stick with it anyway
>tfw the final song was fricking amazing
