>If neither Todd nor Emil are fired, would you still be optimistic about TES6? Or, is Bethesda already dead to you?
Bethesda died in 2011 with Shitrim
TES VI died when Jeremy Soule was fired
>TES VI died when Jeremy Soule was fired
The Skyrim OST wasn't that great either. The Oblivion OST is one of my favorite albums though, doesn't get more comfy than that.
Absolutely NOT. Emil and Todd being fired is the bare fricking minimum requirement for TES6 to even have a chance to not flop.
The entire development team at Bethesda is fricking trash. Level designers, Combat AI, UI/HUD designers, and whoever the frick is in charge of making NPCs, they ALL suck. They're all incompetent fricks.
Bethesda needs to be completely dissolved, and have their IPs distributed to competent game studios.
I used to be very anti-new-engine, because Le Modding. But now I say frick that. I shouldn't have to mod your games to make them playable.
They ought to just use Unreal 5, we don't want to wait another 15 years for Creation engine 3.
>Modding is such a small part of the fanbase a new engine won't affect it.
That's not how it works. Beth is banking on the longevity of their games and that's assured thanks to the very moddable nature of the engine. If you change it and remove modding from the equation, you're basically banking on a lot of normies buying it on release but no more. People are still buying Skyrim and the modding scene is basically the only reason that's happening, Beth wants to recapture that and changing the engines would have the exact opposite effect.
Currently 1/10th of 1% of the people who bought Skyrim are still playing.
I am willing to concede they are all playing modded games.
It is a statistically insignificant number. Modding is not that big a deal.
yet nobody is modding starfield. >creation kit is not out
fallout 4 had more daily uploads and downloads 8 years ago before its creation kit got released.

Because it's shit, I thought we already established that. Starfield flopping has no bearing on this discussion, the approach is still the same. The reason for why they're not changing the engine is still the same, despite Starfield flopping because the approach has been proven to work in the past and one failure won't affect that. What would affect it though is entirely changing the engine which would completely alter their marketing strategy and their expectations for the game's success.
And this is not even getting into the discussion about the ridiculous overhead that completely changing the engine would introduce that'd delay their entire development pipeline for years and bump costs up to crazy numbers.
>Or, is Bethesda already dead to you?
It's not. Starfield was bad, yes but one flop doesn't erase all the love I have for the ES series, built up over the years. I'll give them one more chance with TES6 and if they frick that one up as well, then I'm done.
Anon, we said this exact same thing with Fallout 76. We gave Starfield a chance because we didn't want to drop bethesda over one flop. But then Starfield came out and flopped. That's already 2 flops. You should be done by now.
I don't include the Fallout series in all of this and especially not 76 because I have no attachment to the series and pretended 76 doesn't exist. To me their first real flop is Starfield because it just didn't grab me beyond 90 or so hours. And I just love The Elder Scrolls too much to not hold out hope for TES6.
They're both fine.
TES6 just needs a solid main story.
Why the FRICK did Emil make Starfields story "Get recruited to collect some artifacts --> turn into a space wizard after you collect them"
Starfield is average as one can be, and thats even worse than being bad. I don t have high expectations from new TeS, but it will be better Im sure, simply because medieval setting is visually better looking than dead empty space.
>tes6 map will be the biggest EVER >game is 300 gig in size, please understand >all voice acting done with ai >only three races in the game >only four skill trees >super realistic graphics makes every pc shit itself >game still looks like ass >no mounts at release, will be added later
Well it's pretty standard now that you don't have to finish your game at release. Don't blame the devs, it's the consumers that keep buying it day one. They incentivize it
Releasing unfinished games the fans need to finish goes way back.
Look at Troika and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
Video game fans have never been that demanding an audience.
>loading screens for everything, everywhere >magic is weak and ineffectual >magic visual effects are bland and uninspired >can't create custom spells with custom visuals >can't create custom enchants >combat is extremely shallow >combat mechanics are non-existent >all play styles eventually lead to the same stealthy archer assassin gameplay >loading >loading >loading
Skyrim is a masterpiece. You having objectively shitty taste is a you and you alone issue.
The best way to tell everyone you have objectively shitty taste is to claim Daggerfall or Morrowind is better.
Oblivion has a legit place as a contender but the scaling is a bridge to far.

Pretty much.
Every game is worse than the last, I have no idea how they even still exist at this point

The bare minimum is making a new engine from scratch. Lazy fricks should have done it a decade ago.

Microsoft has taken more control over the gaming division. It is going to be set in Hammerfell and so woke it will make Starfield looklike Mein Kampf.
Abandon hope. Bethesda is cooked.
After starslop and microsofts refusal to refund the game, I will literally never buy another Bethesda game for as long as I live.
dispute it with your bank

moron, can't even read between the lines. Enjoy your disappointment.
When did Todd announce they were indulging in wokeness?
A reddit ama.
He wasn't lying for once.
I am grateful for Todd announcing they were indulging in the woke crap long before release. I demo'd the game to see how bad it was. It was prevalent.
I appreciated the courtesy of them letting me know I am not a valued customer anymore. I am heartened to see it is a widespread sentiment.
They're both fine.
TES6 just needs a solid main story.
Why the FRICK did Emil make Starfields story "Get recruited to collect some artifacts --> turn into a space wizard after you collect them"
>TES6 just needs a solid main story.
Yeah, who needs gameplay in a video game. Also, have a nice day.
They go hand to hand together. For me both are equally important. Without a story and emotional interest/immersion its just a silly mobile game
Tolstoy and Shakespeare couldn't write a story that could save Starfield. The writing is the least of the games issues.
Bethesda has never made a good game, their earlier games were only popular because they were some of the first open world games.
Starfield is average as one can be, and thats even worse than being bad. I don t have high expectations from new TeS, but it will be better Im sure, simply because medieval setting is visually better looking than dead empty space.
Bethesda can save itself by going full force into VR
skyrim VR is actually worth the money
I once finger banged some dude's girlfriend while he was lost in his VR.

Frick outta here with that shit.

I lost hope after they blew up Morrowind out of spite
It was the right call. It was to send a message to the mouthy Morrowind fans.
Best hope is TES7. By then maybe most of the current devs will be dead or retired
after starfield i'm not sure i want a tes 6
