If OoT and Mario were so "revolutionary" and invented the video game industry including controllers, 3D technology, and even the jump animations, then why did this console flop so hard everywhere?
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
because it released late, used cartridges, and had no third party support
>then why did this console flop so hard everywhere?
pic related.
tendies are STILL malding about it 25+ years laters
FFVII solos.
The controller sucked.
it really makes me mad that only like 5% of world population touched aN64 and yet they claimed it was some kind of greatest hardware in history
Because Playstation was literally a glorified SNES, but CD quality music and cinematics made up for it.
The SNES has the second best library in history only behind the PS2
Being a glorified SNES sounds pretty cozy
Sony as a multi-million corpo jumped in the market and pushed advertising everywhere on top of buying exclusivity deals (Final Fantasy for example). Being an electronics giant they also had resources and technology to make CDs viable. Sony was ready to take losses to be able to get itself into vidya industry.
Also, did N64 make Nintendo lose money? Never looked into it much.
T.PS1 is my fav console
Nobody wanted to make shit for nintendo because they were extremely anti-consumer and israeliteed their 3rd party games, charged 4x more for cartridges vs CD and it was hard to make anything good on it because cartridges sucked dick.
Ah yes, just like how Avengers movies are the most influential movies of all time because they're the most popular.
Cartridge > CD
Only Black folk disagree.
keep blowing them cartridges everytime you want to play
Only morons do this. Most of the time, the contacts aren't the issue, it's the cartridge being seated incorrectly, and simply reinserting it once to a few times will solve the issue. If your contacts are actually dirty, it's trivial to just swab them with isopropyl alcohol and they'll be good as new, assuming you did not neglect them and leave them in poor conditions for enough time for the contacts to become corroded.
Meanwhile, CDs can contract disc rot simply because they had minute manufacturing defects that were undetectable by the consumer, or they weren't stored vertically.
ironically enough, that eventually BECAME true, but only with the switch.
back then cartridge technology was abysmal, and price aside cartridges really did not have enough space for good looking 3D textures, orchestral soundtracks and cinematics, AND oot still managed to run at like 18fps in europe.
the ps1 with all its flaws was objectively the superior plarform to develop on at the time
moronic controller design, lack of support from third parties, cartridges with only one tenth of memory space compared to cd's
Because it was expensive and wasn't marketed very well.
>console flops
>journalism still treat it like a huge milestone in mankind's evolution
reminder that Nintend𐐬 owns the gaming journalism industry
That should really drive home how good those games were. Even people who didn't have the console thought they were great. And this was before gaming was popular with young adults, so most kids only got one console.
>Consolewarhomosexualry about 30 year old toys
Bro, your mom bought you the console you got at random, you don't need to keep trying to internally justify its superiority while you're pushing 40.
Literally still at the level of discussion of an Elementary Schooler.
It is the consumer/capitalism culture where people identify through brands and products due to lack of proper identity or self-image.
When you don't have real culture or history, you build your whole culture and identity around corporations, brands, and their products. Pic related is always a good baseline example
What would you have added to that mural you fricking moron?
Nintendo is a toy company and treats it's products like toys, by not subsidizing N64 it let sony sweep the floor with ps1
Lack of good games. The PS1 was drowning in quality content and diverse genre choice.
OoT and Mario64 weren't successful because they were on the Nintendo 64 they were successful IN SPITE of the Nintendo 64.
>then why did this console flop so hard
the name brand doesn't "flop" just because a lot of the off brands were released to the poors
He who has the widest selection of games wins. Every time, every generation. Except 16bit era when everybody had a shitload of games but not all in the same regions.
Every company eventually makes the mistake of forgetting this extremely simple fact, and they all wind up paying for it.
Yamauchi went full moron.
He was right though
>kids don't want random battles with enemies
>they want Pokemon
What did he mean by this?
tendie gay is being mad and moronic at Sony
nothing new
I bought one
What game would be on that cartridge
N64 emulator.
