I disagree. Almost every other element of the game's visual is very accurate to the original game, which featured a lot of 90s/20th century era hardware from computer screens to vehicles. If anything, randomly inserting smartphones is jarring and forced.
People will seethe a lot about Part 3. It's basically backtracking/looking for Huge Materia and dealing with Weapons. Worked in OG because the game is 40hr~50hrs.
50hrs is Part 1 alone, and Rebirth is 80hrs+.

Rebirth kinda ruined the point of them changing things for me. We're going into part 3 pretty much the same way the original's disc 1 ended with really bland variations.

If you just in for story, you should switch to easy. The game takes massive difficulty spike in Vincent and Gold Saucer fight gauntlet and continues with it
