Of course. It's fricking common sense video games are just another (pretty good tho) source of entertainment. For me it's not a hobby, I'm not an epic gaymer, a life-style that identifies me (that could be the case of pro-players in eSports though), or any of that BS video games offer me entertainment, fun, they distract and make me feel distended and even help me relaxing depending on the game. And/or you know, just to pass the time at the least.
Furthermore I like to say video games teach you stuff (i.e Age of Empires literally teaches you history, CoD MW trilogy and spec ops teach you good shit because of the realistic graphics and actual moves like stabbing with a knife or how to kill a dog barehanded. UFC 3 teaches moves since graphics are realistic enough, or it did for me at least, I actually learned a technique from it, the scene kept fresh in my memory and I actually applied it irl in a sparring, both my opponent and my instructor who happened to see me at that moment struggling complimented me for the execution). So never listen to idiots that say video games are a complete waste of time, that you should be doing something "productive" instead any time you are playing, or moms telling you video games are what are preventing you from studying/doing your school homework if you're getting bad grades (bc they only are right at that when you're playing all day every day to one of those very adicttive games that take frickloads of time from you).
Well you can go one step at a time. If they like fast games, try something like Love Letter or 5 Min dungeon or Potiuon Explosion. Try to go with IP and easy rules. Stuff like Codenames is easy to teach and is more fun than Taboo.
