40yo boomer here. never cared for the original re4 but just bought the remake and i love it. it's great when you accept it for what it is, its not like RE1 or 2 where you have to solve a lot of puzzles, there are some but not many. but the action is great. your just thrown into a world were you have to start running for your life, the weapons are all underpowered and that makes you really take time to customize and conserve ammo and setup your weapons to get you through it. i'm just about to the lake cabin now and i'm having a blast. i also got VII too on the winter sale and the hitman world of assination so i'm going to be busy for a while lol.
also just want to say, im really looking forward to a RE1 and 0 remake as well.

Nobody had a problem with Capcom remakes until the modern ones started coming out, almost everyone agreed RE1make was the true version of the game and most didn't even realize it was a remake. It was made by the same devs only a few meaningless years apart from each other, nothing changed except it got better.

Literally every single remake in the RE franchise is better than its original. A bit of soul is lost in the 4 remake for sure but overall it's still a much better game.
3 isn't better, not because it couldn't be but because it feels like they stopped trying halfway through.
But it is an improvement. It tries a little harder to be horror, it tries a little harder to implement exploration, but most importantly of all it removes the goddamn QTEs.

6 is not going to happen. They are not just remaking 5 they are rebooting 5 and creating a new universe spin off that keeps wesker alive as a presence. It's a clever way to take the series in a new direction while dropping the Winters and 6 in the dumpster. 7 and 8 were good but narratively that story is going nowhere with characters no one really cares about.

ive tried to play on a controller. with all the modernized gameplay, it doesnt feel good at all. seems very designed for kb+m.
I played it with gyro on Steam (so mouse gyro and not the shitty gyro they actually used on the PS5 port) and that seemed like the game was balanced around that.
I can't imagine playing with just thumbstick.
