Recently got the urge to play Borderlands, are any of the other games worth it? I keep seeing how Borderlands 2 is the epitome of the series but that's where I kinda lost interest since it seemed to go too far down the whacky road. Am I wrong?

Started playing BL3 and I'm really enjoying it, story seems OK to me.
Tried playing BL1 over the weekend and compared to 3 it it boring as shit and definitely hasn't aged well.
Haven't played 2 yet but I want to play through the other games, I'll rush through 1 as fast as possible, play the prep sequal, then play 2, then wonderland.

Kek, no it doesn't, commander Steele was a nothingburguer character, there was no loot in the vault, only a monster that was later retconned to be only part of a bigger monster, the characters had no personality other than "greedy russian man" or "redneck mechanic". That said, it's still my favorite story because I prefer something that doesn't try and it doesn't bother me than being like BL2 which is just fricking annoying, and BL3 is the game with the worst writing know to man.
I always played these games listening to something else because the gameplay is really fun, but the story and characters at best are forgettable.
Moze and Zane are easily my favourite characters gameplay-wise throughout the entire series.
I can agree about loot variety and how stupidly easy it is to acquire legendaries compared to previous titles, but that aside, the shooting and action part are superior to other Borderlands titles.

Except for the story, which is such rancid dogshit that I can't muster the willpower to play through it again. One section of the story was so bad that Gearbox needed to release an alternated/extended cut on youtube to avoid pissing off fans.
Oh, also about the PS4 not having the space to hold information higher than legendary rarity thus you're in hell getting perfect modifiers on those. Frick that, I just use cheat engine.
1 had the best plot (little to virtually non)
2 had the best combat (although improperly balanced in late meta)
3 had the worst plot, worst gameplay (unless you like your FPSs feeling like shit like COD), and went full tilt on wokehomosexualry
TPS might've been passive if it wasn't for the over emphasis of cryo weapons and "butt slams" (although claptrap having "infinite air" was a nice touch)
Never bothered with wonderlands, I'm sure it was just as insufferable as 3, if not moreso
BL3 has the best gameplay and the OST isn't half bad but that's all the compliments I say about it.
TPS is good but feel it's something for the die-hard BL fan. Backtracking feels more tedious than in BL2, humor isn't bad but clearly made for a certain audience (Aussie humor). Combat may feel off given some of the combat takes place in areas with zero-g
Borderlands 2 is the most fulfilling skill trees, and the most content. I really recommend 2, Gunzerker, Siren, Krieg Melee only, so many ADDICTING builds that I've put thousands of hours into it.
But, you should get a mod for it. The third playthrough relies on Slag damage way too much and everything one shots you eventually, so to balance it get BL2Fix if you're lazy, or BL2Reborn if you're down to code, either fix it. I'm a bit behind on these things though so if anyone knows better overhaul mods..
BL1 is basically an arcade game that didn't age very well but has its fans.
BL3 is a straight upgrade to BL2 considering you want to ignore the dialogues and story in both games and focus on the gameplay.

Recently got the urge to play Borderlands, are any of the other games worth it? I keep seeing how Borderlands 2 is the epitome of the series but that's where I kinda lost interest since it seemed to go too far down the whacky road. Am I wrong?
Borderlands 2 is the best middle ground between story and gameplay.
BL1 has solid story but just okay-ish gameplay.

Started playing BL3 and I'm really enjoying it, story seems OK to me.
Tried playing BL1 over the weekend and compared to 3 it it boring as shit and definitely hasn't aged well.
Haven't played 2 yet but I want to play through the other games, I'll rush through 1 as fast as possible, play the prep sequal, then play 2, then wonderland.

Kek, no it doesn't, commander Steele was a nothingburguer character, there was no loot in the vault, only a monster that was later retconned to be only part of a bigger monster, the characters had no personality other than "greedy russian man" or "redneck mechanic". That said, it's still my favorite story because I prefer something that doesn't try and it doesn't bother me than being like BL2 which is just fricking annoying, and BL3 is the game with the worst writing know to man.
I always played these games listening to something else because the gameplay is really fun, but the story and characters at best are forgettable.
TPS is only worth if for Claptrap DLC.
BL3 ruined loot variety and also the classes really aren’t that fun imo. I still find BL2 more enjoyable when it comes to gameplay.
Moze and Zane are easily my favourite characters gameplay-wise throughout the entire series.
I can agree about loot variety and how stupidly easy it is to acquire legendaries compared to previous titles, but that aside, the shooting and action part are superior to other Borderlands titles.

BL3 nailed it every category EXCEPT story. Levels, music, your main characters actually talking during the game, how skills and guns are handled, everything is better.
Except for the story, which is such rancid dogshit that I can't muster the willpower to play through it again. One section of the story was so bad that Gearbox needed to release an alternated/extended cut on youtube to avoid pissing off fans.
Oh, also about the PS4 not having the space to hold information higher than legendary rarity thus you're in hell getting perfect modifiers on those. Frick that, I just use cheat engine.
1 had the best plot (little to virtually non)
2 had the best combat (although improperly balanced in late meta)
3 had the worst plot, worst gameplay (unless you like your FPSs feeling like shit like COD), and went full tilt on wokehomosexualry
TPS might've been passive if it wasn't for the over emphasis of cryo weapons and "butt slams" (although claptrap having "infinite air" was a nice touch)
Never bothered with wonderlands, I'm sure it was just as insufferable as 3, if not moreso

2 and onward the overall theming just gets too fricking painful to drag yourself through, it only gets worse as it goes on
BL3 has the best gameplay and the OST isn't half bad but that's all the compliments I say about it.
TPS is good but feel it's something for the die-hard BL fan. Backtracking feels more tedious than in BL2, humor isn't bad but clearly made for a certain audience (Aussie humor). Combat may feel off given some of the combat takes place in areas with zero-g
Borderlands 2 is only good if you get some mods that fiex the skill tree and drop rate of gear.
Just give bl2 a try but keep in mind that the writing is le random unicorns with flames, it's a product of its time, they didn't know better. LOL
Borderlands 2 is the most fulfilling skill trees, and the most content. I really recommend 2, Gunzerker, Siren, Krieg Melee only, so many ADDICTING builds that I've put thousands of hours into it.
But, you should get a mod for it. The third playthrough relies on Slag damage way too much and everything one shots you eventually, so to balance it get BL2Fix if you're lazy, or BL2Reborn if you're down to code, either fix it. I'm a bit behind on these things though so if anyone knows better overhaul mods..

BL1 is basically an arcade game that didn't age very well but has its fans.
BL3 is a straight upgrade to BL2 considering you want to ignore the dialogues and story in both games and focus on the gameplay.
The reason Ganker will pretend BL2 is much better than BL3 is they're thirdie poorgays who can't run BL3 without stuttering.

Been playing 3 again and was reminded how the easy legendary drops can ruin a first playthrough. How is it possible for a legendary weapon you obtain at level 10 still kill everything fast 30 levels later?
