I have beaten the underworld solo dude. The ki bar is stupid mechanically and lore wise. The player character in 2 is a demon. There is no reason to have human limitations like William.

You need stamina because this is a souls game and not a ninja gaiden game.
Gaiden/dmc has no stamina so it has no run and (almost) none of "I trap you in a room, now kill all this waves of enemies".
With the current design you need stamina, otherwise you could just run pass 90% of the game
Ki bar is fine, anon
It just makes it so most enemies deal with the same limitations as you
If you're coming from shitty action games where the enemy cheats like in the souls games, I can see why you find it limiting as Nioh isn't a turn based game like most games that claim to be action games. It's a 100% action game, not a turn based one
Diablo loot is a filter for morons. Untill Way/Dream of the Wise, you can get by with just getting new drops with higher numbers and keeping at your desired weight.
i think the diablo loot would be more interesting if it was changed out about as quickly as you would in like borderlands 1 or 2.
You just change through gear so much and so quickly in nioh that they feel like they have little impact unless you have a full set bonus
Im sure late game wise the loot system really shines but i never played any "koei souls" game to the far late game. most fun i had was with strangers to paradise
the point is the loot system for minmaxing is for gays
Outside of getting 2x throwing damage in Nioh 1 for your ninjutsu shit, there is zero reason to farm for 'optimal sets
The diablo gear doesn't matter untill WoTD at the earliest since you very easily upgrade stuff you like to parity before then and the progression is very generous for the first few Ways.
WoTW is when you gotta start actually caring about buildcrafting beyond big number = 🙂
t.played a little bit of nioh 2
I’ll be honest I really fricking hate the ki bar and the Diablo loot drops in Nioh 2.
Ki pulsing is easy and once you realize that diablo loot doesn't matter until later difficulties, it's not that bad to get what you want unless you're going for absolute perfection
Easy with the splitstaff. High stance heavy extended can smash their heads before they get close enough to attack. Love the weapon but it really needs mystic dyad to feel good to use.
Diablo loot is a noob trap that filterd me out of nioh1. In the end you don't need good loot till ng+3. A good set for you playstyles is the only thing you need, also the whole forge system is useless once you get to Wise because you unlock "lucky drop" on your accessories and orange loot can't be forged
I could also argue that good stat placement dosen't matter till ng+2.
The only thing you really need to check is agility, toughness defence and hp. Also untouched nimpo/omnyo if you play mage
me too, the ki pulse system is fricking cancer. So excited the next Nioh spiritual successor game coming out soon does away with that entire garbage mechanic
I want TN to make a Nioh like without the diablo loot. Its cool that Nioh is a well made ARPG and bu endgame you have to also consider builds but for most players the loot is just needless busy work every mission or so.
You don't need to consider builds at all for the first play through and only really need to start actually making a competent one for NG+3.
It's honestly one of the best for progression since it's totally optional for the first playthrough where the vast majority of the playerbase check out and only starts to actually matter once you've decided that yeah I do like this enough to do it 5 times.
>Ki bar
Literally just stamina >Diablo loot
Literally the best part of the game, it gives it actual replay value unlike other souikeslop which I've never had the urge to play after beating.
Im convinced all these super aggresive and long combos I see vids of from this game is from several new game plusses down the line. I dont have anywhere near enough Ki or magic to be spamming shit. Less than a handful of attacks or 2 yokai abilities will fully deplete my bars, and I'm three parts in.
Despite all the advice to the contrary, poking and dodging around yokai really does work best. I'll maybe string together a few things if it's down to red ki.
Takes too much time. In the heat of battle, I often have to dodge out of the way before I can do a well timed ki pulse. I only find it usable if the enemy isn't doing anything.
I guess you got more attack pattern memorization and muscle memorization to do then.
You'll get it down eventually if you just keep trying. And remember, you can always lab at the dojo.
I know, fricking moron idiot.
You can still practice moves there though. Like ki pulsing and fluxing.
Why did I never realize they would put a fricking Dempsey Roll in for fists.
Fuark I already beat the game, is there really any point in doing the diablo 2 gear grind?
Perfecting your build.
By the end of the game you can really trick yourself out with some pretty game changing special effects, especially from picture scrolls.
I've restarted this game like 6 or 7 times, and playing slow and steady is the best I've performed so far lol. Aggresive play just isn't happening.
I also swear people have been lying about how "good" blocking is supposed to be in this game. Yokai will genereally break your guard super easily, and you'll barely have ki to counterattack anyway.
I've rerolled in a guard build right now and I can agree. I can barely do it with ultimate courage, boar guardian for anima on guard, and Acla grace (+100 Def, easier timely guard and -30 ki consume on guard). And of course you just don't guard everything unless you are sure you can timely guard it
iirc blocking depends on the type of armor you're wearing.
If you're running light or medium, you should probably consider blocking something of a last resort.
You can still be very effective playing reactionary instead of proactively. There's a lot of parries for example, even a couple you can use on yokai. The fist skill, opportunist, might be the best parry in the game since it works on virtually any physical attack, from basic humans to supermassive yokai bosses.
Block is "good" because you dodge instantly if you hold block and can get out of a stunlock. There are pretty strong weapon skills with guard frames. It also activates and deactivates instantly so you don't have to hold it all the time. You usually can block a couple of hits if you use heavy armor.
The ki bar is cool but it's almost pointless by the end because double fluxing is so easy to do and there's virtually no reason not to do it whenever possible. I hope they make ki management a little more important for the next one because they might as well cut out all the RPG mechanics otherwise and make it a straight action game.
Diablo loot always sucked in these games, they should take it out because it's either useless or it's so good that it allows shitters to coast. And it's always garbage filler content.
Nioh was a very weird curve.
At first gear is pointless and you just equip the best you drop and try to play minimally decent as possible.
Then gear matters little but you've got to git gud and really master movesets both yours and enemies'.
Then everything devolves into a moronic minmax in which very little matters other than sinergies and nuking enemies as fast as possible.
Team shitja never made a single good game, simple as
Fpbp
>responding to yourself
Shameful.

damascus is metalslop for poser blacksmiths who bought their equipment with their software engineer white collar high paying job and they should kill themselves

>2 male robots fricking eachother.

Well yeah but they'll call it aluminium
Damn next you'll tell me pig iron is bad.
What is wrong with the ki bar?
Ki bar is artificial difficulty.
Kill you+ self buddy
The stamina bar is artificial difficulty...
...
Yes. It is an arbitrary gate keeping of action.
Gameplay is an arbitrary gatekeeping of winning

The ki bar is fine. Diablo loot is fricking trash, and needs to stop.
Double Fluxing with Odachi and Axe is a gamechanger.
Goes from running out of Stamina easy to having infinite stamina early on.
Im convinced all these super aggresive and long combos I see vids of from this game is from several new game plusses down the line. I dont have anywhere near enough Ki or magic to be spamming shit. I honestly like all the customisation options in Nioh 2.
I hope they keep this for Rise of the Ronin but I doubt it.
Might have the best character creator since dragon's dogma, not counting subslop like black desert or honey select.
Nioh 2 is the last major release featuring males and females. All current and future games have 01s and 02s
