I'm a couple hours in (just got thrown in prison for stealing a dude's lunch), and I'm not sure I'm understanding this combat system. If I only have a handful of seconds to make a decision, how am I supposed to figure out what the right move in any situation is? Also, is there any way besides items and resting to restore MP?
Git gud
>He got found guilty
>he wasted time doing the legwork to be found not guilty when you still go to jail anyway
anon, i don't know what to say other than the process is the punishment.
Ganker is a bunch of autists, don't let them tell you shit. If you're having issues, use wait till you get a feel for it, and then go back to atb. No shame in it and no one really exists to scream "YOU DIDN'T BEAT THE GAME" with a picture of the active/wait menu.
most of the difficulty is in having the right people in your party vs picking the right techs, targets, etc. But some fights are less of a headache is you can think between attacks.
>i'm only pretending to be moronic!
anon, please, you're better than this.
>the rest of this thread
CT isn't a hard game. Therefore you should not feel the need to make it harder. The journey, the story it tells, the fairly cinematic shit you do is the goal, not telling someone you beat CT on active, thinking that'll get your dick seen as bigger. It's not a flex. Just enjoy the game.
turn on wait, you chud. And yes, that's the only way to regen mp, there are accesories to cut mp costs or give you more mp.
but Ganker told me wait mode is for casuals
It is but no shame in playing the game casually your first time, what are you a speed runner?
You are clearly a casual so it's fine for you.
The difficulty of the game is so low you can pretty much just pick whatever spell or attack feels intuitively like an okay choice and you'll do fine. Chrono trigger is not a hard game where you need to carefully pick the perfect move on every turn. I say you should stick with the active time and just learn to pick your moves faster.
Literally the only hard part about Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga is trying not to over invest in POW so that you can steal unique items from certain enemies without killing them by accident
Magus and Golem Twins will destroy you if you rely on standard attack attack heal tactics. Magus' gimmick is that you deal damage to him with the same element he casts on you but the game is poorly translated you won't figure it out on your own.
Golem Twins have a nasty physical attack while in physical mode, so you're suppose to cast magic on them.
>If I only have a handful of seconds to make a decision, how am I supposed to figure out what the right move in any situation is?
>but Ganker told me wait mode is for casuals
anon, I....
If you play Chrono Trigger you're already a casual since the game is nothing but spamming attack and babysitting your HP bar.
Since that's already too much for you there's definitely no shame in admitting you're a shitter
Chrono Trigger is 99% spamming spin attacks, lines, and other AoEs
Switch to wait mode and the battle will pause when you are choosing an ability or item
That should help a little bit. You can even use this to your advantage if you need a pause to figure out your strategy
Is there an easier Japanese RPG than Chrono Trigger? I'd be interested if anyone could think of one.
Super Mario RPG is easier I think
I found it a bit harder because there's less leeway in healing. SMRPG has some later bosses that sort of assume you are going to be group hugging every turn, and they do damage accordingly, while I found CT has a lot of bosses that do not put up the pressure quite as much. That said they are both near each other on the scale of easiest.
>Just git gud and obtain the super suit for Geno
>Put all of your next best equipment on Mario and steamroll fights thanks to being able to jump good
>Bowser has lazy Shell and uses items and status for fights where healing is required uses more offensive build when healing isn't required
>Git gud at blocking
I don't care if it makes the game harder I refuse to use Peach and Mallow until I die.
A lot of the "dangerous" moves in Chrono Trigger are massively telegraphed, such as having five turns where the enemy counts down
Boy I wonder if I should defend when it reaches zero HMMM
>Mfw I skip Mamon Machine and Lavos has full ATB right as he travels to 65,000,000 B.C.
>Japanese
Get out of here with that Gaijin souvl
Anon, Mystic Quest was made by Squaresoft in japan.
It was made FOR the western market as an experiment but nevertheless.
Oh so a MHW situation gotcha.
yeah this is the perfect baby's first jrpg, it's basically that way by design
that said it's still a pretty fun time with a great soundtrack and cool characters
it gets shit on by elitist homosexual youtubers but don't listen to them
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is famous for its trivial difficulty.
I love Chrono Trigger but never would I ever imagine someone get borderline filtered by it. Grim.
It doesn't take five minutes to figure out to cast ice on the enemies weak to ice for the 50th time.
>people seriously mass recommending wait mode
How the hell does anyone on the fricking planet find Chrono Trigger hard? You will learn what each move does and the several seconds while enemy animations play it is more than enough time to make a selection in ATB. ATB was done to add more reactivity to combat since it's boring as shit otherwise.
It's cool that they let you play Chrono Trigger in prison dude
Set the combat to Wait so that you have more time after you select a command or while you're in the items/spells menu. You can also turn the combat speed slower in the options if it's too fast for you. Items and resting are the only ways to restore MP (unless there's some technique I don't remember) but you shouldn't run out unless you're spamming techs left and right.
buddy... you committed a crime?
>He doesn't know about the secret ending were Marle and Ayla trib Cronos wiener in a netorare threeway for being a bad boy
I bet Ganker would beat up Gato's joints for silver points
spend long enough and the bolt blade is yours a little bit early, get through the first time to 600 ad and the early part of 2400 easier.
