I'm a mega man first timer and I was just wondering if the levels in the later games ever get less cluttered with enemies or if that's a common complain at all with X1.
I've got half the bosses down in one sitting and while it's fun, going through levels is mostly miserable. I just wanna slide and go fast but there's enemies in the worst fricking positions, always off screen, always trying to halt your momentum. The game really could have benefited from a goomba stomp feature or or just less enemies over all imo.

You'll love X2 and X3, levels are so empty and horizontal you'll be able to jump + dash everywhere and survive on nothing but pre-placed life pickups after a couple heart capsules.
>I'm a mega man first timer and I was just wondering if the levels in the later games ever get less cluttered.
HAHAHA no.
or if that's a common complain at all with X1.
It's not.

You're the only person who has this problem, pay more attention.
dashing lemons do double damage
you can clear enemies and move fast once you get gud
special weapons also clear enemies like its nothing, specially tornado and fire
>dashing lemons do double damage
I've played this a ton on and off as a child and I never realized this.
Only in X1
X2 it stops doing double damage to bosses
Play X4, that's the one with levels so streamlined that you can zip through them.
Git gud zoomer
Im trying Vince sama
Back in my day I would play mega man x now you homosexual zoomers get offended with everything they call it mega person x.
Steal that from facebook grandpa?
Talk to me with respect mega boy
How old are you?
52 years young thank you very much
>Won’t give his actual age without irony behind it
Yep he’s underaged
I served in Iraq defending your freedom frick off
Learn to slide and lead your charged shots. X is known for being perhaps the best designed one. Also take advantage of your weapons to kill as you go
Dash shots do double damage
Charge shots slaughter everything
Enemies are placed in a way that a dash jump can avoid most if not all. The ones that cant die to a single shot and if theres more than one they die to a green charge shot
Just play X5 where you can just damage boost your way through most of the game without even shooting.
>I just wanna slide and go fast
So go play Sonic. The game's a platform shooter with a bit of exploration for hidden power ups. You're not meant to speed run the thing your first time playing it.
that's fine, but I just hate the enemy placement even when Im going through normally
No. The fundamental flaws with the mega man series are its controls (lack of aiming, ducking etc) and the level design (enemy placement is almost always on some kind of angle so being able to even hit them with your weapon is extremely awkward, yet they can all aim 360 degrees and hit you no matter where you position yourself).
And they are never addressed. Ever. There are approx 140 games in the mega man series according to wikipedia, and they're almost all identical. They're so obviously made by some kind of randomised template, that they don't even have credited designers or directors anymore, and haven't since Akira Kitamura left after MM2 on the NES.
The lack of controls wouldn't be an issue if the levels were designed around the fact accordingly. But they're not - the wacky enemy placement just doesn't work and makes traversing levels a frustrating, clumsy and awkward experience.
Just jump idiot.
>and they're almost all identical
Sure, Legends, Battle Network, Star Force and spinoffs like Command Mission all play like Classic.
What a massive moron. This is what the special weapons are for and FYI, sliding in the classic series lets you duck a boatload of things. The classic series also has Bass playable in a couple of games who can aim in 7 directions with a rapid fire buster.
Btw the classic series is good and the X series is shit.
>and they're almost all identical
I'd argue the only identical series are X and Zero and even then not really. I guess ZX and Star Force too but I've always just considered them extensions of Zero and BN

t. has not played through X5-X8
He's complaining about X1, anon. He hasn't even been in the same room as MMZ.
not giving a (you) to 613583218
Oh. Neither has he, though.
this series, and perhaps the entire entertainment medium of video games, is not for you
I suggest you to play megaman zero then.
Why would you say something so spiteful?
I'm not entirely trolling. He wants momentum with dash, well in zero you dash in with your charged sword
Sure but Zero is the king of cheap offscreen gotchas.
He complained about enemies being in ass positions and off screen. Those are common complaints about the Zero games.
>I just wanna slide and go fast but there's enemies in the worst fricking positions, always off screen, always trying to halt your momentum.
This isnt fricking snoic.
I'd argue that he wouldn't be able to stomach the 2d Sonic games if he's complaining about those issues with Mega Man. 2D Sonic requires you to know stage and enemy layout like the back of your hand if you want to go fast without losing momentum. Mega Man games you can wing it for the most part if your reactions are good.
but it should still feel good to traverse a level
You're the only one who thinks it's bad.
I don't agree with OP, but with some X games, I go for buster/z-saber only runs on bosses, and I've noticed that some bosses are significantly more challenging than others. Some first-timers might have a bad time if their first boss was someone like quick man or Armored Armadillo.
I dunno how to feel about this. On one hand, it encourages players to try a different stage, get what they need, then tackle the boss again. On the other, most mega man games don't even let you exit the stage until you've already cleared it.
>going through levels is mostly miserable
?
If you are complaining about that in FRICKING X1, boy are you in for a rough ride
Abuse the charge shot. That's what it's there for.
