Magic is either shit or broken to the point it's boring. Theres no middle ground.
Do Fortify Enchantment - Fortify Alchemy loop, enchant shit with -100% mana drain and spam tactical nukes with dual cast.
Came here to say this. Currently playing it, too. Around 50 hours in now and I've gotten more enjoyment out of it in the first 2 hours than I've gotten from 100s of skyrim.
OP, spare yourself of the wasted time. Play Enderal.

play enderal instead
Redpill me on Enderal, is the main questline any good?
Yes. Its great. Pretty much every quest is great, it doesn't do filler. Seemingly unimportant quests often escalate and become far more interesting. I don't want to say much about the main story because its deep as hell and is completely unexpected. My favourite questline was the one you get from the undercity's arena. I had to put the controller down and just think on what I had done afterwards.
There's also an ingame book series written from the perspective of a serial killer which is great.
>went to install it >lmao you need to own a version of the base game >own special edition >don't own the original version of the game
Is Bethesda fricking serious? Why don't I get access to 2011 Skyrim when I buy the special edition? I'm not spending $20 to get an older version of Skyrim to install a free mod
except for:
-worse worldbuilding, invisible walls even in the main fricking city
-worse economy, hard to believe it's even possible but it is, in early game you don't even have money to level up your character because you have to buy skill books, but once you hit certail point in the game you suddenly become so rich money means nothing.
-worse companions, skyrim companions are not much more than combat drones but enderal companions I actively dislike
-main quest is ok but not as good as skyrim's was on the first playthrough
-no memorable locations
-combat is the same
The only character I didn't like was the dyke-elf. Stupid character with an annoying squeaky voice. Almost all of the others are great in my opinion.
Economy is great for single player. Rags to riches is the dream, and it gives us that. After I have done 2/3 of the game I don't want to care about scrounging for coin anymore. Its not an mmo.
The quests just don't compare. Almost every quest in Enderal is expansive and interesting. In Skyrim there's like two that aren't completely forgettable and bland.
The combat is different despite being based on the same system. Far more moves, spells, etc. The best thing is the change in approach with everyone dying easier, including you. Weapons are dangerous. No bloated healthpools.

if you aren't going to grab a mod to rebalance magic, then it's a HUGE mistake, with the main reason being:
ALL damaging (destruction) spells do a fixed damage value which has no scaling whatsoever, and the strongest spells in the game are completely fricking useless after level 30 because enemy HP values get scaled to your level, so now the strongest spell you have (and will EVER have) now just tickles enemies whilst raping your magicka/mana pool
the absolute bare minimum mod you need to magic magic somewhat viable is a magic scaling mod, there are loads of them because everyone who ever played mage found out how trash this system is and a bunch of people decided to fix it themselves, they all do roughly the same thing, which is to increase the damage of a spell proportionately to your level and/or destruction skill level
god, Bethesda are so fricking incompetent it's kind of insulting how successful they are
>tickles enemies whilst raping your magicka/mana pool
By that point any player with common sense would at least tripled their mana with item enchantments and efficiency perks
what? It's been a while since I played Skyrim, and I know its spell variety is garbage, but I remember master destruction spells being pretty powerful AoE that I used all the time
Archery really is the only fun way of combat in Skyrim, every other system just feels boring and honestly the archery is also done better in other games.
What's the point of modding Fallout 4? It still feels like Fallout 4 no matter how many mods you pump into it, compared to other Bethesda games where it feels like a whole different game after only 50 mods.
From what I've used, the best mage builds use 100% spell cost reduction alongside Ahzidal, Aspect of Terror, and Augmented Flames (Note: Ahzidal and 100% cost reduction is only possible by enchanting your armor with a manmade potion or a philter and Ahzidal's insight for 110 Enchanting) for about 300 damage on a dual-casted Incinerate. After that you just rely on Impact to stunlock enemies which can get boring.
LE is the old one
SE is the old new one, LE with some graphical changes
AE is the new new one, SE with creation club content integrated into the game
I think a ton of modders stayed on SE and said they'd never switch to AE but I also remember hearing the same things about LE to SE so who knows. AS it stands currently AE is the best for no mods and SE is the best for mods
I would go for some kind of magic mod. Vanilla magic is really boring and moronic, while also being brokenly overpowered in that you can stunlock anything to death (it just takes forever).
magic is the most kino playtrough. one hand stunning, one hand explosions. dont believe people who tell you it doesnt scale. its OP and scales fine. especially when u get to freecasting.
Dual cast illusion magic with enchanted gear for it to work on everything, you need a perk to do it.
Destruction scales like shit
Conjuration can carry you through the game if you get the summon dremora spell early
Restoration hels you
Alteration.... Lmao, fricking lmao
Do it ASAP. I don't have money for scumrim but I would've played it in a blink of an eye!
imagine just walking and enjoying ambient music killing occasional bandit or dragon
I did, it's great but only if you auffer from severe autism.
It's janky SOVL stuff, with wolves killing you at low level, but you becoming a literal god at high level
Don’t do it
Do it
vanilla magic is boring as shit, the master spells are useless
Yeah but its fun when you stand in a Group of soldiers after taking windhelm for example
But yeah useless actually
>max sneak
>max destruction
>get master spells
>sneak close to enemies and spam master spell
as a mage youll be very angry the first time .... gonna take you a good 60hrs till you understand what you are doing
destruction spells are very boring, go with the other schools instead

Enderal is better in every way.

There's literally endetal special edition on steam moron
the only thing to criticize about it is that it prob makes some people buy skyrim to play it
also i dont know how good the english translation is as im playing in german
except for:
-worse worldbuilding, invisible walls even in the main fricking city
-worse economy, hard to believe it's even possible but it is, in early game you don't even have money to level up your character because you have to buy skill books, but once you hit certail point in the game you suddenly become so rich money means nothing.

-main quest is ok but not as good as skyrim's was on the first playthrough

All in all, it's ok but nothing special
The only character I didn't like was the dyke-elf. Stupid character with an annoying squeaky voice. Almost all of the others are great in my opinion.

You can get Enderal special edition on steam.
Wow, I'm moronic. Thanks.
I hope you're OP, but even if not, at least we got you playing enderal.
>worse lore
that's a yikes from me
WIll enderal work on pirated sse? I've bought this shit once on ps3 and i'm not buying it again

yeah, but having a bigger magicka pool doesn't suddenly make the "mana to damage" ratio on master spells complete shit
>increasing mana
>instead of reducing casting cost to 0
you can just enchant yourself with 100% cost reduction but you’re still spamming low damage fireballs the entire time
what? It's been a while since I played Skyrim, and I know its spell variety is garbage, but I remember master destruction spells being pretty powerful AoE that I used all the time
worse than just spamming stagger fireballs
doesn't the fortify destruction potion increase your destruction spell damage?
I supposed mage players could do just fine as long as they're alchemist
it’s kinda dumb there’s no destruction damage enchantment, while any melee weapon can be turned into an infinite damage stick
Archery really is the only fun way of combat in Skyrim, every other system just feels boring and honestly the archery is also done better in other games.
combining spells does absolutely nothing
i'm currently reinstalling fallout 4 for the 100th time. I'm 500 hours in and the furthest i've gone is establishing the minute men castle.
you’re not missing much
What's the point of modding Fallout 4? It still feels like Fallout 4 no matter how many mods you pump into it, compared to other Bethesda games where it feels like a whole different game after only 50 mods.
play enderal instead
fixed
Play Daggerfall Unity instead
you guys say magic is shit but this guy makes op archmage on legendary difficulty
It's a video game. It's a bad one but it's a game. Go hog wild.
Install colorful magic.

whats the difference between legendary edition, special edition or anniversary edition and which one should i install
Ironically, Special Edition is the original one
Anniversary is SE with mods
Legendary is the remaster
apparently its the other way around LE is the OG one with all DLC etc while SE is a remaster
You're right, LE is the closest to vanilla, with a more recent patch and DLCs
SE is "vanilla" remastered and AE is SE with mods
LE is the old one
SE is the old new one, LE with some graphical changes
AE is the new new one, SE with creation club content integrated into the game
I think a ton of modders stayed on SE and said they'd never switch to AE but I also remember hearing the same things about LE to SE so who knows. AS it stands currently AE is the best for no mods and SE is the best for mods
AE is literally SE, SE mods are AE mods, with the exception of some scripting mods.
AE is just SE packed with some shitty cc content.
se is more stable and better, play that. Avoid ae because it has shitty subpar content that will only sour your experience
hold lmb rmb gameplay
I would go for some kind of magic mod. Vanilla magic is really boring and moronic, while also being brokenly overpowered in that you can stunlock anything to death (it just takes forever).

>open console
>"bat OnePunchMan"
>you can now roam around completly naked, whilst onehitting everything even with the noob spells
>tfw used to be in top 2% but due to alcohol abuse and lack of brain exercise am probably down to top 10%
>sandbox
>cant do what you want in terms of rp or affect things in any meaningful ways
do a stealth archer playthrough instead.
no one has ever done that before.
Dual cast illusion magic with enchanted gear for it to work on everything, you need a perk to do it.
Destruction scales like shit
Conjuration can carry you through the game if you get the summon dremora spell early
Restoration hels you
Alteration.... Lmao, fricking lmao
>Talk me out of it
No need, you'll end up as a stealth archer either way
Do it ASAP. I don't have money for scumrim but I would've played it in a blink of an eye!
imagine just walking and enjoying ambient music killing occasional bandit or dragon
Pirate it, it sold a gazillion copies already, the devs are going to eat tomorrow regardless
Anybody here ever tried the requiem mod? Seems kinda neat
I did, it's great but only if you auffer from severe autism.
It's janky SOVL stuff, with wolves killing you at low level, but you becoming a literal god at high level
Have fun playing one of the worst designed videogames in existence
