No mod can fix the skeleton of the game. When the really moronic plot and shit side quests starts to annoy you again then you’ll get bored.

I like the pin up girl poster mods. then I plaster my main settlements with booba. I wish there were more but there are only about 5 or 6 good mods with "free use" poster girls.
On ps5? Do not install Automatron or Wasteland Workshop or your game will crash 100% of the time. Without those two dlc it still runs fine.
Apparently these two dlc also contribute to Boston running like shit on xbox.

yes? a 10mm pistol won't kill a deathclaw in one headshot, but it will drop an unarmored raider. if you step on a mine or don't run from the frag, you will die. power armor gets a damage threshold that blocks all incoming damage until the piece of armor is destroyed, then it provides no protection at all, then you die. the 'slow-mo' button replaces VATS since 3/NV style VATS is irrelevant and clunky in fallout 4, which has excellent shooting mechanics.

Can I get all these mods from steam workshop or do I need to do a separate launcher with nexus?
I have never been able to complete the game after several attempts because I always encounter game breaking bugs.
I've been replaying new Vegas for a few months (took a few weeks off) playing very slowly and loving it. Crashes maybe two or three times a session (2hrs). As it's installed on my SSD it's not that bad, boots back up within 10 seconds.
I used a collection mod that installed everything for me
Comfy af game, I still remember the day I bought it on my work lunch break in the pissing rain. Couldn't wait to get home and play it on my PS3 (it ran like shit kek)
You can play it. Odds are you won't enjoy it as much as you think because most of the fandom is driven by stupid company war crap. Some stuff is better than mainline but a lot of stuff is worse.
- Turn incoming and outgoing damage down to 1.25 (killing everything including super mutants with one 10mm sneak attack bullet isn't fun)
- Turn adrenalin off (fixes ridiculous damage boost)
- Turn fast travel on
- Turn cell change save on (so the game saves when you enter a dungeon/city)
- Reduce water and food thirst by one notch (saves on the tedium of drinking/eating by late game)
Honestly the best part about it is how well it integrates New Vegas' improved mechanics and new weapons into Fallout 3. It also does surprising things like make all the unique weapons actually look unique. Plus you get to use all the fantastic New Vegas stability and script extender mods that can completely fix things like janky movement or add new fluid animations.
I dont remember it being particularly difficult. Just an installer with checkboxes.
Its fallout 3 ported over to fallout NV, so you get all the QoL updates from NV etc. I think it already spreads shit like doctor bags into the FO3 world to deal with the NV health system like getting crippled etc. and also adds recipes that use FO3 items.
Its a superior experience to standalone FO3 in every way and I never noticed any big differences or incompatibilities. Only some FONV mods that affect weather or graphics etc will cause the citadel to be missing and you continually falling through the floor. So check that there is a citadel patch for them. I managed to save my playthrough by just disabling the offending mods and the re-enabling them after I nuked that shit

both are pretty bad. Play the first Fallout if you want a traditional RPG. Play 4 if want an FPS hybrid. Play Fallout Shelter if you want a mobile game. Ignore the rest of the series.
The really great thing about NV is the characters/factions and dialogue/choices you make is by far the best in the series. The gameplay is very dated now, but even FO4 feels dated to play.
If you go into it looking to talk to NPCs and do their quests you'll enjoy it. If you want to shoot guns and build bases, then probably just FO4/76 is better.
Install the storywealth collection OP. Grit your teeth and bear the nexus bullshit and enjoy 1000 hours of cringe kino fan quests and voice acting.

In 76, you can't stop for much of anything, there's nothing but the generic quests given by robots and boring gameplay to distract you from the poor visuals. When communities get insular they become very homogenous.
What does this mean? Over a period of 200years, the majority population of a settlement would dominate. Minorities would get assimilated (bleached) or exiled/shunned.
There's very little travel in the wasteland, 90% of it is caravans. You would have exception like diamond city being a central hub.
But every other settlements in the games would be same-race people. Now what would be extremely interesting is having remote ones being 100% black or 100% asian.

Not FO4 but new Vegas. First time player here. Are there any builds that are really bad, or should I not worry about builds and just go for what I find fun?
I've played through the game with a regular ballistics build, a shotgun build, and a melee build and I've managed to make everything work. Anything with loads of crit damage also works.

I actually think Fallout 76 has one of the best online communities in a video game. People tend to be nice and helpful. If you are a new player, you will probably get a bunch of goodies if you run into a high level player. I don't think there's a lot of screeching children on FO76. You'd have to be delusional to believe that (and you are).
The storylines and the quests have actually come a long way in FO76 as well. PERSONALLY, I don't give a shit. I don't really like Bethesda's writing, but some of FO76's quests are about on equal footing to Fallout 3 or Fallout 4. Again, I never really cared for the storylines in FO3 or FO4, but they've more or less brought that into FO76. For me? I think it's fun to log on and kill some shit, loot some shit, experiment with some builds and mods, frick around in my base, etc. Bethesda will never tell a story as good as Morrowind again, and FO's storyline will never be as good as New Vegas or the original FO games again, so there's no point in being upset over that.

Yeah I think the gameplay in FO76 is pretty good. You have to actually put a bit of effort into correctly building and gearing your character to do some good damage and play well. I think it just works, as Godd Howard promised.

Yeah, it's not a hardcore experience. If you want a game that forces you to talk to people and you want a hardcore PVE experience then play WoW. If you just want to chill, play FO76. The endgame is just you maximizing your personal power.
You leveled up by tagging mobs in public events, but consider that the guys actually killing the mobs have good characters, and you would have likely failed the event had they not been there.

I randomly ran into someone that crafted me a bunch of weight reduction gear when I was a low level. That helped out a lot. In general, whenever I ran into high level players, they'd lend me some stimpacks or chems which are pretty useful early on. Me personally I craft some low level fixers and hand them out to new players since that tends to be a really beastly weapon no matter what build you are running.

I just downloaded the Magnum Opus modlist on Wabbajack. It's got all the mods I've ever wanted plus hundreds more and runs flawlessly compared to when I tried to do it myself and ended up crashing constantly.
Going to reinstall FO76 again if only to grab the new goodies. Last time I played I had a full health rifleman build with plasma flamethrower and the fixer. Does this build still work?
I'm playing it TN. Storywealth collection with a gritty ENB. It was rough getting all the mods configured, but it's not so bad. I don't think it's much of a good Fallout game though. Still interested in seeing Nuka-World and some of the Fan DLC Expansions.
It's another instance of a Bethesda game that has a terrible base game but molders use it as a platform to make something you can actually enjoy
Also Sim Settlements 2 is absolutely required. Find out how to set up a radio beacon and you can ignore all the house building crap and it improves performance too. I learned that yesterday.
I hate these guys so much. I don't even know if they were in base game. That's the funny part of playing it modded on your first playthrough. You don't know if "Mister Doctor Pepper" talking about Stimpaks causing autism was written by Bethesda or a fan.
How do you think Bethesda could capture that feel of travelling down a path towards a destination? Even New Vegas had you getting to Vegas quite early and the city ultimately being a bit of a letdown, Fallout 4 had the same thing with Diamond City. Afterwards you sort of make it a hub and wander back and forth through the wasteland but that kind of inhibits the sense of a journey that I feel Fallout 1, 2 or Underrail capture much better. Yes their cities and their quests can cause you to spend a good deal of time in an area but eventually you're moving on.
Gameplay wise it's the best 3d Fallout. The main story and overall dialogue choices are just extremely weak compared to earlier entries. I enjoyed playing it but was kind of bummed out there wasn't a single outfit I liked that wasn't Vault Suit + Leather Armor or a set of power armor. Many of the armor and gun designs are really ugly. I ended using pretty much just a Hunting Rifle and Deliverer outside of Power Armor, and a Minigun inside Power Armor the entire game.

yes? a 10mm pistol won't kill a deathclaw in one headshot, but it will drop an unarmored raider. if you step on a mine or don't run from the frag, you will die. power armor gets a damage threshold that blocks all incoming damage until the piece of armor is destroyed, then it provides no protection at all, then you die. the 'slow-mo' button replaces VATS since 3/NV style VATS is irrelevant and clunky in fallout 4, which has excellent shooting mechanics.

I have never been able to complete the game after several attempts because I always encounter game breaking bugs.
I've been replaying new Vegas for a few months (took a few weeks off) playing very slowly and loving it. Crashes maybe two or three times a session (2hrs). As it's installed on my SSD it's not that bad, boots back up within 10 seconds.

You can play it. Odds are you won't enjoy it as much as you think because most of the fandom is driven by stupid company war crap. Some stuff is better than mainline but a lot of stuff is worse.
None of the expanded content mods are actually good so you just need the stability mods which will only take like an hour.
This game is fully playable without mods unlike a certain other lesser Fallout game made by an incompetent developers (Fallout New Vegas).
Download survival mode options mod then,
- Turn incoming and outgoing damage down to 1.25 (killing everything including super mutants with one 10mm sneak attack bullet isn't fun)
- Turn adrenalin off (fixes ridiculous damage boost)
- Turn fast travel on
- Turn cell change save on (so the game saves when you enter a dungeon/city)
- Reduce water and food thirst by one notch (saves on the tedium of drinking/eating by late game)
Now you are ready for Bethesda kino

Honestly the best part about it is how well it integrates New Vegas' improved mechanics and new weapons into Fallout 3. It also does surprising things like make all the unique weapons actually look unique. Plus you get to use all the fantastic New Vegas stability and script extender mods that can completely fix things like janky movement or add new fluid animations.

Its fallout 3 ported over to fallout NV, so you get all the QoL updates from NV etc. I think it already spreads shit like doctor bags into the FO3 world to deal with the NV health system like getting crippled etc. and also adds recipes that use FO3 items.
Its a superior experience to standalone FO3 in every way and I never noticed any big differences or incompatibilities. Only some FONV mods that affect weather or graphics etc will cause the citadel to be missing and you continually falling through the floor. So check that there is a citadel patch for them. I managed to save my playthrough by just disabling the offending mods and the re-enabling them after I nuked that shit

The really great thing about NV is the characters/factions and dialogue/choices you make is by far the best in the series. The gameplay is very dated now, but even FO4 feels dated to play.
If you go into it looking to talk to NPCs and do their quests you'll enjoy it. If you want to shoot guns and build bases, then probably just FO4/76 is better.

What does this mean? Over a period of 200years, the majority population of a settlement would dominate. Minorities would get assimilated (bleached) or exiled/shunned.
There's very little travel in the wasteland, 90% of it is caravans. You would have exception like diamond city being a central hub.
But every other settlements in the games would be same-race people. Now what would be extremely interesting is having remote ones being 100% black or 100% asian.

I actually think Fallout 76 has one of the best online communities in a video game. People tend to be nice and helpful. If you are a new player, you will probably get a bunch of goodies if you run into a high level player. I don't think there's a lot of screeching children on FO76. You'd have to be delusional to believe that (and you are).
The storylines and the quests have actually come a long way in FO76 as well. PERSONALLY, I don't give a shit. I don't really like Bethesda's writing, but some of FO76's quests are about on equal footing to Fallout 3 or Fallout 4. Again, I never really cared for the storylines in FO3 or FO4, but they've more or less brought that into FO76. For me? I think it's fun to log on and kill some shit, loot some shit, experiment with some builds and mods, frick around in my base, etc. Bethesda will never tell a story as good as Morrowind again, and FO's storyline will never be as good as New Vegas or the original FO games again, so there's no point in being upset over that.

Yeah I think the gameplay in FO76 is pretty good. You have to actually put a bit of effort into correctly building and gearing your character to do some good damage and play well. I think it just works, as Godd Howard promised.

When I played it you just teleport around tagging shit at the events endlessly. There's no point where you ever need to actually talk to each other like in a game like runescape or WoW.

Yeah, that's a smart way to level up fast if you are starting out.

Yeah, it's not a hardcore experience. If you want a game that forces you to talk to people and you want a hardcore PVE experience then play WoW. If you just want to chill, play FO76. The endgame is just you maximizing your personal power.
You leveled up by tagging mobs in public events, but consider that the guys actually killing the mobs have good characters, and you would have likely failed the event had they not been there.
I guess but my point is that was where the entire playerbase was. I don't see where the community is. There isn't anything to "help out" with because it's all scaled content, same problem with ESO.

I randomly ran into someone that crafted me a bunch of weight reduction gear when I was a low level. That helped out a lot. In general, whenever I ran into high level players, they'd lend me some stimpacks or chems which are pretty useful early on. Me personally I craft some low level fixers and hand them out to new players since that tends to be a really beastly weapon no matter what build you are running.

The storylines in FO3 and FO4 were never really strong. I liked exploring the world. I liked killing shit. But the storylines were never very good in Bethesda games after Oblivion.

I just downloaded the Magnum Opus modlist on Wabbajack. It's got all the mods I've ever wanted plus hundreds more and runs flawlessly compared to when I tried to do it myself and ended up crashing constantly.
Going to reinstall FO76 again if only to grab the new goodies. Last time I played I had a full health rifleman build with plasma flamethrower and the fixer. Does this build still work?

I'm playing it TN. Storywealth collection with a gritty ENB. It was rough getting all the mods configured, but it's not so bad. I don't think it's much of a good Fallout game though. Still interested in seeing Nuka-World and some of the Fan DLC Expansions.
It's another instance of a Bethesda game that has a terrible base game but molders use it as a platform to make something you can actually enjoy
Also Sim Settlements 2 is absolutely required. Find out how to set up a radio beacon and you can ignore all the house building crap and it improves performance too. I learned that yesterday.

I installed the midnight ride modpack. I just really dislike the whole base building its so boring because I know my base looks like shit.
I hate these guys so much. I don't even know if they were in base game. That's the funny part of playing it modded on your first playthrough. You don't know if "Mister Doctor Pepper" talking about Stimpaks causing autism was written by Bethesda or a fan.
How do you think Bethesda could capture that feel of travelling down a path towards a destination? Even New Vegas had you getting to Vegas quite early and the city ultimately being a bit of a letdown, Fallout 4 had the same thing with Diamond City. Afterwards you sort of make it a hub and wander back and forth through the wasteland but that kind of inhibits the sense of a journey that I feel Fallout 1, 2 or Underrail capture much better. Yes their cities and their quests can cause you to spend a good deal of time in an area but eventually you're moving on.

finished fallout 4 last week without any mods. it's pretty playable idk what's the fuzz about it.
Gameplay wise it's the best 3d Fallout. The main story and overall dialogue choices are just extremely weak compared to earlier entries. I enjoyed playing it but was kind of bummed out there wasn't a single outfit I liked that wasn't Vault Suit + Leather Armor or a set of power armor. Many of the armor and gun designs are really ugly. I ended using pretty much just a Hunting Rifle and Deliverer outside of Power Armor, and a Minigun inside Power Armor the entire game.
