After becoming allergic to garbage dialogue and woke movie slop, I had to dredge this up. I'm only looking for a proper game. Will it be worth my time?

Yes.
Yes. Just beware enemy level scaling.
7 is the better game but 8 is more interesting. get the mod that speeds up combat animations.
it's the opposite
8 is a better game, since 7 has objective game design flaws such as very limited inventory and yet quest items [which are numerous] take up inventory space
7 is more interesting
>8 is a better game
8 is a terrible game and its when bradley left. It's just might and magic with a wizardry coat of paint. Threw away all the cool mechanics 5-7 built up, worse combat, worse map design, worse everything.
>mfw full party creation with characters still interacting and bantering with each other
How in the FRICK has no one copied that system yet?
I love how much effort they put into offering a variety of voices.
there are no meaningful interactions, just banter. Imagine if characters got a boost/penalty to performance or threaten to leave the party depending on how they get on with other members, like they did with companions not wanting to go to certain locations
>just banter
banter > "meaningful interactions"
gayboi
>Imagine if game was bad
well thank God you didn't have a say in this matter
>like they did with companions not wanting to go to certain locations
You mean one of the most garbage and annoying features in the game?
I skipped over all of the companions entirely because of that.
Have a feeling there's a mod for that though, might play through again one day and try bringing Madras and Saxx for the Bard/Gadget pairing if I can cut out that annoying bit.
I'd be fine with just the b***hing and maybe some flavorful minor debuffs while they're in certain areas, but completely upending my party comp whenever I want to go certain places is too much of a pain in the ass.
>Have a feeling there's a mod for that though
No need for a mod, there's a gameplay feature to achieve that. It's called "baseball bat to the head".
Don't they b***h and moan then eventually leave anyway if you do that?
devs love their shitty OC and because bioware made money on that, they won't stop. innovation is dead.
Great game, get a speed mod.
It's great, here are my starting tips
- get modern day mods that help running the game on modern machines and speed up combat animations [this is really important if you want to enjoy the game]
- there is a particular section of the game where autoscaling can absolutely filter you, called Arnika road. Save when you enter it for the first time in a separate slot and try to make it to the Arnika asap, repeat if failed. That's the right way to approach this area until you have not only the levels but gear and spells as well
So far so good. Addictive classic RPG gameplay. Felt like a 12 year old playing daggerfall or betrayal at krondor again. I haven't had that feeling in a long time. So much better than BG3. Why can't we go back
have fun anon
Anon, wiz 8 is the goyslop of Wizardry games. This is easily the most moron friendly casual one that plays nothing like the others. Why do you morons always gravitate to the worst one? Just go back to skyrim and leave this genre be, embarassing.
Wizardry 8 is the best game in the series and it's not even close.
The entire foundation of the series is eroded because now you can stand in a doorway and fight a pack of 30 enemies one at a time. It's absolute dogshit and you should be ashamed. Wizards and Warriors doesn't have this problem, by the way, and has excellent and very interesting encounters and level design despite transitioning the wizardry formula to 3D, but an eceleb didn't make videos on it so it gets ignored, funny that.
>an eceleb
You undermine your argument with this, even though I agree with you. People liked Wiz 8 before Youtube was a thing. New thing is always more popular.
>You undermine your argument with this
No I don't.
You do, it's assumptive and reductive. Stick to what people say, it's obnoxious to use canned arguments like "you get your opinion from x", which is just an opinion you got from here.
You're upset because it's true, I'm not going to obtain from saying something objectively true because it offends you. Same reason morrowind and gothic are popular, because it's dumbed down Google algorithm slop for edgy memesters.
How am I offended? You don't even make sense, your style is so needlessly combative that your posts become nonsense. I simply don't get why you find this shtick amusing.
lol wizards and warriors is a lot easier to cheese then wizardry 8.
Oh no, positioning matters. RPGs have failed, billions must permadeath.
>positioning matters
It doesn't matter, there's nothing tactical about standing in a doorway. That's the problem. Wizardry breaks and it becomes a might and magic gibfest when adding this extra dimension to it. Like normally in these types of 3d games standing in a doorway could be an arguably disadvantageous position due to various angles displacing your ranged and letting enemy ranged dog pile on your tank, very easy to implement this geometry, but wizardry 8 does not work this way because all characters occupy the same cell in an abstract space. This is worsened by wiz 8 dumbing down wizardry combat anyways, with far less encounters and resource management, less enemy variety to learn. It's garbo for moronic slavs.
8's combat is literally harder than anything but 4's.
>8's combat is literally harder
None of the combat is hard, its about resource management as you explore labyrinths. The combat is designed so you have to study enemies, write down what they do, how much hp they have, budget your spells wisely, etc., whereas 8 is just some amoeba brained power gaming fantasy, which again is what attracts the morrowind/gothic edgy memester crowd.
>The combat is designed so you have to study enemies, write down what they do, how much hp they have, budget your spells wisely
No, no, no, no. Wrong on every count. The sole game where you have to actually do that is 4 because it has a different structure to normal Wizardry. I played 5, 6, and 8 all back to back and 8 was by far the hardest.
>The sole game where you have to actually do that is 4 because it has a different structure to normal Wizardry
You have to fight literal 10s of thousands more battles than necessary in wizardry 7 if you don't budget spells properly due to how severely punishing rest is. This all goes back to the original mechanic of Wizardry 1 having a limited pool of resources to delve down as far as possible and get back alive for the next deeper delve, now repurposed for an open world. Wiz 8 recreates none of those feelings. Nothing difficult about 8. Maps aren't labyrinthian, puzzles are braindead, nothing.
>puzzles are braindead
and thank god for that. you have no idea how lucky you are these days being able to google a walkthrough or watch a let's play instead of having to pay for a separate clue book on top of the fricking game.
>puzzles are braindead
that's true for Wiz 1-7 as well though
I'm not saying they are easy, but they aren't exactly testing wits wouldn't you agree?
seems like you just came to shitpost
It's because they can run it and the graphics are slightly newer. Doesn't even seem to matter to them that the idea of 3D encounters in a Wizardry game is an awful gimmick by moronic developers.
it's absolutely not the WORST one and it is the easiest to get into
>easiest to get into
It's nothing like the other ones and you'll learn nothing that will help you play the other games, so what does this even mean? It's a moron game so of course it's easy to play.
kys half blooded monkey
I'm a WASP.
>anglo
your da was mr john bin muhammad then i assume
Always anime posters with the shittiest of takes.
Absolutely yes, though I enjoy Wizardry 6 and 7 a bit more.
>I'm about to play this super easy game for complete morons, but it's le old so it's like I'm deciphering an ancient text, I'm going in you guys, brace yourselves XD
>wow so old and based! It reminds me of... uh krondor!!
Why do kids make terrible threads like this? You dont even know what the frick is going on in the game and probably played it for an hour and dropped it. Jesus lol
i cant find your wiener for some reason
did you drop it?
It's in your mouth.
weird, i don't feel it
>so used to sucking dick it doesn't register
sad
zamn
You guys looking forward to that new Wizardry game in the works?
Do you ever get to swap out your companions or are you stuck with the starting party for the whole game? I made a custom party consisting of:
Human Fighter (sword n shield tank)
Dragon Fighter (2handed axe)
Elven Priestess
Elven Ranger
Fairy Mage
Tigon Monk (Martial Arts)
For me the greatest pleasure comes from creating custom characters and watching them develop through the game. That is what RPGs are all about but I'm wanting to replace the Tigon because his martial arts dps sucks
>Dragon
>Tigon
You mean Dracon and Felpurr?
tf is a 'felpurr"
read through the thread again, there are several posts by people who haven't played the game
