Really, homie? You think Starfield is at all comparable to a top down isometric D&D inspired RPG? It's sooner compared to Cyberpunk and that game got its due shitting on too. This game ain't getting second wind once the masses get their hands on it. There's already enough negative stigma on it in all forms of social media that it will cause anyone saying anything positive about it to get slammed with webms of the game's buggy content.

      Yeah about that..

Just so you know. The hemhorraging Baldur's Gays kvetching that their 15 minutes is up does not in fact represent the general population out there. It really doesn't. Todd has blotted out the sun. Sven lost. And I must admit, I get no small amount of satisfaction knowing that degenerate little rat who shat on Baldur's Gate's legacy is sitting in his office right now coping with the actual reality that all those hot sales are actually from a three year period. Meanwhile Starfield is going gangbusters before it's even released. Maybe Sir Coke Can should have paid more attention to how BG actually plays. Because once you've fricked the bear, there is little else other than a boring slog to get through for the rest.

There's no organic exploration. Every point of interest is already marked on your map for you before you even land because you'd never find them amongst the empty procedurally generated wastelands otherwise.

It's especially obvious when you unlock the dragon shouts - I mean starborn powers, an npc just marks the next copypaste temple on your map for you every time. Compare that to organically stumbling upon dragon walls in Skyrim at the end of a dungeon or on top of mountains in the overworld

Yeah, i mean it's not like skyrim had a system where you could ask an old man in a high up place to mark the next place you can obtain one on your map for you.
I 100% found some of the temples organically as they're in random spots for every run.

        Anonymous

Now imagine asking the greybeards for the next wall location is the ONLY way to find each shout. And instead of being in dungeons they're all in copypasted temples surrounded by miles of empty nothingness

it's shit slop. Black personfilled slop. boring. extremely uninteresting story. 2 romancable characters and one is the granny and the other one is an ugly 4-5/10. every single npc is hideous. faces and animations etc are like from 2010. the whole game feels like it's a decade old game. ai is just a no i. enemies are complete bullet sponges. it feels terrible. it's like fallout 4 but with a texture pack or something. maybe worse since it doesn't even have fallout gore. It also run incredibly bad. 60 fps but this decade old looking ugly game should not be 98%ing my gpu unless it's mining crypto.

Kek, this and 100% unironically. I won't say it's 'good' at all. But if you want a comfy slow-burn space RPG, it actually delivers there. Are you the kind of autist that can immerse yourself into your character and 'make your own fun' a bit? I'd recommend.

But for most people, I think they wouldn't be very into that aspect of it.

  31. 8 months ago
    Anonymous

Already got about 30 hours on it because I have no life. Have done main quest and side stuff. Didn't pirate it, paid the full amount for early access. And I'll tell you straight up it's a massive disappointment. First of all it just feels too similar to Fallout 4 and 76. You can immediately tell it's essentially the same game with a new setting. Shooting feels better but enemies are incredibly easy. They barely react. "Exploration" is almost nonexistent. It's not open world. You just load from instance to instance over and over. Story is incredibly overhyped and boring. It doesn't really evolve as you play. Overall the whole game is boring. I've never felt so aimless in a Beth game before. You honestly just stop giving a frick because it's this drab back and forth with nothing of consequence. Character creator is good imo, builds are shit. The stuff you pick doesn't feel impactful in general gameplay at all. Space flight is absolute shit. You can't really explore space at all. The dialogue is the standard quippy modern fair. NPCs look awful as usual. Many locations are empty "mobs spawn here" zones with nothing much else. It's just a very bland game.

Starfield really does feel like Fallout 4 in "space" but it's just far more empty, generic and boring. There's nothing new here. I'll keep playing but overall I'm very let down because the game just isn't what they pretended it to be. It could literally be a Fallout 4 mod. I'm actually having buyers remorse but I'm honest at least.

    >Is it good or not?
It's the best (unmodded) game Bethesda put out since Morrowind, which is to say it's decent. Firstly, anyone who seriously bought the shit Todd the Mountain Climber said is a fricking moron or a newbie, possibly both. Starfield isn't a space exploration game, and if it wasn't for occasional pirate ambushes the starship would largely be pointless outside of being a portable home, but I will admit outright that building your own starship from scratch is actually a pretty cool feature despite it being ultimately pointless. Hand-made questlines are actually decently reactive to your background and playstyle choices, Stealth is handled a lot better to the point where it almost feels a bit overtuned in the AI's favor, gunplay is decent for the most part and modding your shit is an actual choice rather than Fallout 4's system of everything being a better version of another mod.

Honestly it's like any other Bethesda game where it tries to be everything and is decently good at some of them while completely awful at the others, but like I said at a baseline it's one of the best products Bethesda has put out. So yes, it's Toddkino.

      Are there caves?

        Anonymous

There are, but I haven't found any yet that really justified trying to find them. Finding geological features is pretty cool, but I would say there's really not much point in exploring the planet overworld beyond getting your surveys done and finding the best spot to set up your mining operation. Also, setting up what I would call a functional operation takes for fricking ever because of how many materials need to be crafted from other materials that are then crafted from other materials that... well, you get the idea.

          Anonymous

Its okay. Bought into early access because I enjoy Bethesda games, but know exactly what I'm getting into.
Not GOTY material, not worth paying early access either. Only worth pirating and buying when it goes in discount.
40 hours in and completed two side story factions and the main quest once, currently on new game plus. Not once did I feel immersed nor give a damn about the story. Your character instantly goes zero to hero and joins an exclusive elite club just because they were lucky enough to touch a piece of mystical space rock first. Nearly everything you need to do on the main quest is handed to you on a silver platter with zero difficulty. Overall the plot is poorly written, and the dialogue is mediocre. The main story does start to get interesting halfway in, but that's about it. A nice twist, but nothing award winning. It does however give a good excuse for players to enter new game plus.
Spaceship building is okay, and Outpost building in its current state is complete dogshit.

Also the game, as per usual Bethesda fashion, is a bug ridden mess. I have encountered many save breaking bugs that force you to reload to an earlier save. To name a few:
    >Docking at a station and being stuck in the scene transition indefinitely
    >Watching an essential quest NPC bug out and levitate through the ceiling of a building and into the stratosphere
    >Docking onto a space station and being unable to enter my ship nor fast travel off the location
    >Trying to reach the next area of a quest only to be indefinitely stopped by [INACCESSIBLE] doors bugged out and not progressing the quest

Why would you play this game despite its flaws? Because the one thing Bethesda does right is create a sandbox where you can make your own fun. When I first started I completely ignored the main story, joined the pirate faction, went wild robbing people of their goods and blasting them to bits, then came back to the main story with a beefy pirate vessel.

It is, but some incredibly vocal sony fans are so upset that they're launching an all out crusade against it. Generally if they're posting images comparing crowd NPCs to main characters from other games or only posting screenshots of the starting city, it's usually a good sign they're an absolutely furious PS5 owner crying that they don't get to play it.

Either way, if you're on the fence just gamepass it and drop it if you're not having fun. Minimal losses that way and you won't have let some furious snoyboys influence your decision.

I can give you a 100% honest review, i bought it, played for 30 hours, its really good until the third planet, Mars, went to explore the famous "random generated cell" 5 caves with the same layout, exactly the same. 4 meteor impacts (2 iron 2 fire) with the same layout also.
Ran away from mars thinking it was bugged, went to Uranus moon Ariel, go to an abandoned mine, it has the same layout as another one in other planet. Even dead Bodies, and perk Magazine.

Saw that and asked for a refund, saw some people with 40 hours getting, i will be mad if don't get one.
